Ernest M. “Ernie” Rizzo, Jr.

Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Wednesday, June 5th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., in the Vertuccio and Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) Revere, for Ernest M. “Ernie” Rizzo, Jr., who died on Thursday, May 9th, unexpectedly at his home in New Hampshire. He was 74 years old. A Funeral Service will follow the visitation at 11:15 a.m. in the funeral home. Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Ernie was born & raised in Revere. He was educated in Revere Public Schools and was an alumnus of Revere High School, Class of 1964. Ernie enlisted in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era and served his country proudly & faithfully, serving 2 tours to Vietnam on the U.S.S. Boston Missile. Early on Ernie wanted to follow in his father footsteps and work in the food industry. He worked alongside his parents for several years at “Ernie’s Pizza & Take Out”. He broaden his horizons and began working in various restaurants in Boston & along the North Shore. His many talents in the kitchen had allowed him to become a “Head Chef”. He later moved to New Hampshire where he continued to work, until his retirement.

He is the beloved son of the late Ernest M. Rizzo, Sr. & Margaret (Nazzaro) Rizzo. Loving brother of Judith A. Correggio & her husband Richard P. of Revere. Cherished uncle of Gina M. Corregio – Regitano & her husband Richard of Lynnfield, Nicholas R. Corregio & his wife Rosanna of Revere. He is also lovingly survived by his grandniece Adriana M. & his grandnephew Marco F. & many cousins & friends.

    Ernie and I grew up together in Revere from elementary school through high school. He was a great friend and I am so sorry to hear about his passing. I would like to extend my condolences to his family. He will remain in my heart for the rest of my life.

    I served with Ernie on the USS Boston. Tried to keep in touch with him , but never quite happened. He was a good person and I really enjoyed him. God Bless

    I am very sorry to learn about my friend Ernie’s passing. I grew up with Ernie in Revere and hung around together with several mutual friends. Ernie and I played basketball together from the age of ten throughout high school. I remember a kind young man who loved good clean fun. He will remain in my heart and prayers for the rest of my life.

Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
