Fernando Fernandez

A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, December 14th in Our Lady of the Assumption Church, East Boston for Fernando Fernandez, who passed away in his Revere residence on Tuesday, December 12th, following a valiant battle with cancer. He was 59 years of age.

 Born in Madrid, Spain, he was raised and educated there. Fernando spent most of his life as a missionary and immigrated to Boston 20 years ago with his wife and children. He was a member of the Neocatechumenal Way both here in the United States and also in Spain, having been sent as a missionary family. Fernando worked for many years with the Archdiocese of Boston as a programs director and was the Director of Religious Education at Our Lady of the Assumption in East Boston.

 He is the beloved husband of Maria Rodriguez and the son of Maria Dolores Rodriguez and the late Fernando Fernandez. Devoted father of Juan Fernandez of Revere, Andres Fernandez and his wife Adrianna of Maynard, Javier Fernandez of Revere, Pablo Fernandez and his wife Maria of Everett, Manuel Fernandez of Revere & Raquel Fernandez of Revere. He is the cherished grandfather of Jimena Fernandez. He is the dear brother of Maria Dolores Rodriguez & her husband Giuseppe of Madrid, Spain and the late Javier & Maria Jose Fernandez.

    I deeply regret the departure of brother and itinerant Fernando.
    I had the grace to participate in the beginning of the mission in Boston, together with the families, myself as a seminarian in Vienna.
    My sincere condolences to the family.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
