Flora P. “Flo” (MacDonald) Bishop

Family & friends are invited to attend a visitation on Monday, July 15th beginning at 9:00 a.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE for Flora P. “Flo” (MacDonald) Bishop, who passed on Tuesday, July 9th at the Kaplan Family Hospice House of Danvers, following a brief illness. Following the visitation, a Funeral Mass will be celebrated in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) REVERE at 11:00 a.m. and immediately followed with interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born & raised in Prince Edward Island, Canada, she came to live in the US.A. as a teenager, settling in East Boston & remaining there until moving to Revere in 1948. Her early career was spent as a waitress at Revere Beach in the Frolic’s Café & Restaurant. Later in her career, she made a change to banking and worked as a Personnel Officer for Boston Five Cents Savings Bank-Citizens, completing some 21 years and rising to the position of assistant Vice-President, retiring in 1990. Flora always enjoyed traveling and seeing the sights with enthusiasm and excitement. She was also a member of several Revere Seniors Club and was Past President of Revere’s “Smart Set”.

She was the wife of the late Charles H. Bishop and the devoted mother of the late Charles J. “Bucky” Bishop & the late James R. Bishop. She is the dear sister of Rosina M. MacAulay & her late husband, James of Leominster & the late, Catherine McCaffrey, Donald & Allan MacDonald. She is lovingly survived by her caregiver, Kathy Corbett of Revere & many faithful & proud nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Restoration Fund at the Immaculate Conception Parish, 22 Lowe St. Revere, MA 02151.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
