Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, March 14th, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Retired Revere Patrolman George F. Cafarelli, who died at his Revere residence on Monday, March 11th, following a long illness, at 78 years.  His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, March 15th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere at 10 a.m.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Born & raised in Revere, he was a 1952 alumnus of Revere High School.  After joining the military, George received his High School Diploma.  He had always wished to return to school at the college level, & so he did in 1971 & graduated from Northeastern University-School of Criminal Justice in 1975.  George followed in the footsteps of two of his older brothers, the late Lieutenant Antonio J. Cafarelli, RPD & the late Sergeant Leonard A. Cafarelli, RPD & joined the Revere Police Force.  He retired in 1990 after 30 years of service with the Department.  He leaves his beloved wife of 5o years, Margaret M. “Peggy” (White) Cafarelli.  He is the devoted father of Revere Police Chief, Joseph A. Cafarelli & his wife, Lisa of Rowley, Laura M. Cafarelli of Revere, & Revere Patrolman John A. Cafarelli of Swampscott.  He is the Dear Brother of, Yolanda Criscuoli & her late husband, Alfonso of Revere, Mafalda Russomando & her late husband, Ralph of Springfield, Anna Formica & her husband Charles of Danvers, Anita Smith & her late husband, Thomas of Nahant, Rita Presley of Saugus, Lydia O’Connor & her late husband, Al Fischer of Cornelius, North Carolina, Emily Warren & her husband, Edward of Revere, Vienna Mooney & her husband, Samuel of Youngsville, NC, & the late Lt. Antonio J. Cafarelli, RPD, Sgt. Leonard A. Cafarelli, RPD, & Miss Olga Cafarelli.  He is the Cherished Grandfather of: Alyssa M. & Grace M. Cafarelli both of Swampscott, Olivia L. Cafarelli of Revere, Daniel A. & Sarah V. Cafarelli both of Rowley.  He is also lovingly survived by two sisters-in-law, Malvina C. (Tata) Cafarelli & Marie I. Cafarelli both of Revere, & many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the: VNA Hospice Care, 100 Tradecenter G-500, Woburn, MA 01801-1872.

We are Kilburn Street neighbors, and I looked for George whenever I made the turn down my street. He always had a smile, a wave, and an invitation to come up and visit him. Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
