Geraldine or “Mama Gerry” as most knew her worked for many years as a nursing assistant, retiring at age 85, and in later years as an activities assistant at The Lighthouse Nursing Center. She was the life of the party and very loved by all who knew her. She was an amazing cook and shared wonderful Italian recipes with everyone. Her sense of humor was contagious and everyone knew who ruled the roost. This past year was a difficult time with many health issues. She could no longer travel to the casino or play Bingo with friends but she kept busy making puzzles and doing crosswords. She was able to live at home these past months with much help from the Chelsea Jewish Hospice Team. A special thank-you to Judy Duncan her favorite nurse who she enjoyed having coffee with in the morning. To Joyce, Kelly, Barbara and all the caretakers who visited daily. we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You all helped make these last months comfortable and happy for her.

She is the wife of the late Cosmo Fantasia who died April 9th 2016, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Anthony F. and his wife Ann of Tampa Florida, Geri R. Fantasia and Tracey A. Fantasia of Revere and the Late Richard C. and his surviving wife Deborah of Sacramento, CA. Cherished grandmother to Kimberley R. Fantasia and her fiancé Dan, and Kristen A. Fantasia of Tampa. FL, Nathalie A. and her husband Lance McDaniel of Sacramento, CA, Philip S. and John A. Miller of Revere and Brian R. Miller of Los Angeles, CA. Great-grandmother of Macy L. McDaniel of Sacramento, CA. Loving Sister to Daniel Tempesta of Stoneham and the late Ann Pasquale, Antonio Tempesta, Marilyn Ordway, and Lawrence Tempesta. You will be missed Mama Gerry. You brightened the room with your smile, laughter and jokes. We were all blessed to have known you. The world is a little duller without your presence <3

    To daughter Geri and family,
My deepest condolences on the passing of your beloved mother. I remember her helping with activities at the Lighthouse when Helen Piazza was there and my father Vincent Liberti would visit her everyday. My dad passed on January 20, 2017 at age 91. He grew up on Rand St. too and knew your parents for years. Your Mom was always making everyone smile and laugh at the Lighthouse. I was reading the Revere Journal this morning and thought of your Mom. I pulled up your Dad’s obituary and then saw your Mom’s obituary. I think it was her way of letting me know that she and your father are reunited with their old friends Helen and my Dad. They are watching over all of us. Prayers to all.

My deepest condolences to the family. There were very few days that went by without a good laugh from Geri. She loved people and she loved her job. I will really miss her.

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
Faithfully,

Your friends at Vertuccio Smith and Vazza.
