Gregory Carangelo

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Wednesday, November 7, 2018 from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio and Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt. 107) Revere, for Gregory Carangelo, who died on Sunday, November 4th at the Kaplan Family Hospice in Danvers after a most valiant battle of Liver Cancer, he was 59 years old. A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, November 8th beginning 9:00 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 a.m., in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere.

Greg was born in Winthrop & raised in East Boston. He was educated in Boston Public Schools and was an Alumnus of East Boston High School, Class of 1977. Greg resided in East Boston, later moving to Revere for a brief time after he and his wife Marie were married. The couple then moved to Everett for approximately 15 years, where they raised their daughter Alycia. Greg held various jobs, but the majority of his working career was at Boston Logan International Airport where he performed building maintenance, a position he held for over 15 years. He later worked as a security officer for “Securitas” for several hospitals on the North Shore, mainly Melrose Wakefield Hospital & Whidden Memorial Hospital. Unfortunately, in 2015, due to his declining health, Greg was forced to stop working and became disabled. Although Greg’s illness prevented him from working, it didn’t stop him from being the dedicated husband and father he was. He was still doing everything he could to maintain a happy life for his family. His passion was his family and being surrounded by them. He was also a long time Dallas Cowboys football fan. Greg will be remembered & he will be missed but he will always be loved for the gentle and loving man he was.

He is the devoted husband of 32 years to Marie M. (Fucile) Carangelo of Revere. The loving father of Alycia M. (Carangelo) Lopez & her husband Jeffrey of Revere & Everett & the late Gregory Michael Carangelo. Dedicated son of Phyllis (Pagliarulo) Carangelo of Lynn & the late Nicholas Carangelo. He is the cherished brother of Sabrina Colombo & her husband James of Peabody & Nicholas Carangelo & his wife Katie of Bangor, Maine. He is the dear son in Law of Michael J. & Rosaria “Sarina” Fucile of Revere. Adored uncle of Jared G. Colombo & his wife Katy of Billerica, Nicholas J. Colombo & his wife Katie of Peabody, Olivia M. Colombo of Peabody, Nicholas Carangelo & Steven Neal of Bangor Maine & Dania Kenny of Revere. He is also lovingly survived by his sister in law Michele M. Kenny & her husband Patrick of Revere and many loving cousins, friends and extended family. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
Faithfully,

Your friends at Vertuccio Smith and Vazza.
