Irene P. “Pat” (Murray) McDonough

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, November 13th in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107), REVERE from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. for Irene P. “Pat” (Murray) McDonough, who passed unexpectedly on Thursday evening, November 9th at Tuft’s Medical Center of Boston. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, November 14th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) REVERE at 10:30 a.m., immediately followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born & raised in Revere, she was an alumna of Revere High School, Class of 1953. “Pat” continued onto Secretarial School in Boston & would later gain employment in the former Mystic Valley Gas Co. of the North Shore as a secretarial administrator. Later in time, she took a position with State Street Bank & Trust in Boston as a word processor in the newly formed computer division. Her five-year employment with State Street, ended when “Pat” took on the title of care-giver for her dear Mom (Irene A. (Vose) Murray) & her beloved husband, Dr. Frederick J. McDonough, Jr., when they became critically ill. Dr. McDonough was a former Revere School Principal & Administrator, who passed in September of 1995. Her Mom hailed from one of Revere’s oldest families, along with her late Dad, Paul M. Murray, also a member of one of Revere’s settling families. “Pat” has always been a family person, regardless of whether you were an immediate family member or part of her extended & vast family, she was ever present for solace, comfort & a generous heart.

She is the cherished mother of Kathleen I. McDonough & her wife Denise Lamoureux of St. Petersburg, Fl., Diane McDonough-Goff & her husband Phillip of Mansfield & Frederick J. McDonough, III & his companion Kim Briggs of Revere. She is the devoted grandmother to Matthew Goff of Mansfield & Colleen Goff of Mansfield, Zanelle Briggs, Ashley & Brittany Griffin, all of Revere. She is the dear sister to John V. Murray of Amesbury, Richard P. “Skip” Murray of Wilmington & the late Charles F. Murray, Paul J. Murray & Leo M. Murray. She is the faithful sister-in-law to Genevieve M. Murray of Revere and she is lovingly survived by a great-granddaughter, Izabelle Briggs & many proud & devoted nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. “Pat” was always more than an “Aunt” to her many nieces & nephews, often she became their surrogate “Mom”.

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
Faithfully,

Your friends at Vertuccio Smith and Vazza.
