James Baldwin

Family & friends are invited to attend and visit with family on Monday, April 4th beginning at 9:00 a.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere for James Baldwin, who died at Boston’s Mass. General Hospital following a brief illness on Wednesday, March 30th. His funeral be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere at 11:00 a.m.

Born & raised in London, England, Mr. Baldwin & his late wife, May Lillian (Houghton) Baldwin & their daughter, Christine J. Baldwin made their way to the USA in 1952 first settling in New Jersey and then coming to live in East Boston, Ma.in 1955. They remained in East
Boston for 30 yrs. before moving to Point of Pines, Revere in 1985. All of Mr. Baldwin’s working career was spent as a finish painter, with several local contractors. He was a long-standing member of the Orient Heights Civic Club, a favorite place for him to visit after retirement. There he had many friends and associates.

He was the husband of the late, May Lillian(Houghton) Baldwin, who passed on Oct. 27, 2008. He is the cherished and devoted father of Christine J. Baldwin of Pt. of Pines, Revere. He is the dear brother to Beaty Reilly and Bertie Baldwin, both of London, England. He is also lovingly survived by several nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews, both in England & the USA. Interment will be held privately.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
