Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Saturday, February 14th, from 1 to 3 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere, for Ret. Revere Firefighter, James F. “Sonny” Robertson, Jr. who died on Thursday, February 5th, 2015 at the Tremont Rehabilitation & Skilled Care Center of Wareham, after a long illness. A Funeral Service will follow the visitation in the Funeral Home. Born & raised in Revere, Sonny was educated in Revere Schools before attending St. Rose High School. After high school, Sonny enlisted in the United States Navy, Post WWII. Once he returned from his Military service, he joined the Revere Fire Department. Sonny was known for having a tremendous work ethic. Sonny also worked with his father in the family business, Robertson Construction. In later years Sonny had taken it over and operated the business, while on the Fire department. 1954, Sonny married Marjorie E. O’Hara. The couple remained in Revere, raising their daughter. Sonny was also known for his cooking, especially at the Firehouse. The firefighters knew when Sonny was working his shifts that he would be making something delicious. He is the devoted husband of Marjorie E. (O’Hara) Robertson of Revere & Middleboro, whom he shared 61 years of marriage with. He is the loving father of Patricia L. Cautillo & her husband Alphonso A. “Al” of Middleboro. He is the cherished grandfather of Christopher J. Cautillo & his wife Erin E. of Taunton & Robert J. Cautillo & his wife Sara of Franklin. He is the beloved brother of Ruth “Chickie” Guarino of Revere, Jean Giguere of Revere & June Littlefield of Lynnfield. Also lovingly survived by several nieces & nephews. Interment is Private. Past President & Member of the Fraternal Order of Orioles, 123 Revere Nest. In Lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to: Alzheimer’s Association, MA & NH Chapter, 480 Pleasant St. Watertown, MA 02472.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
