John G. FitzGerald

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, October 1st from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith Fitz Gerald, JonhHome for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte 107) REVERE, for John G. FitzGerald, who passed on Thursday, September 24th, unexpectedly at his Danvers residence. Funeral services & interment will be held Privately.

John spent most of his young years in Peabody & Topsfield, and Graduated from Masconomet Regional High School in Topsfield, in 1986. Most of his working career, was spent in human resources, working for non-profit agencies. From about 1995 – Nov. of 2000, John spent time as a student & genealogy researcher in Aberdeen, Scotland. There, he met the love of his life, Angela “Angie”(McKenzie) FitzGerald. The couple were married & they returned to the USA in Nov of 2000, settling in Peabody. In January of 2006, the couple moved to Danvers, where they have remained since that time. John had a passion for music, especially, Fleetwood Mac. If you knew him, you knew what type of music, he enjoyed.

He does leave his beloved wife of 21 years, Angela “Angie” (McKenzie) FitzGerald. He is the devoted son of Helen R.(Green) FitzGerald of Peabody & the late, James E. FitzGerald. He is the cherished brother to; Susan M. Hamlin & her husband, Eric M. of Ipswich & Bonnie L. Kelley & her husband, Stephen J. of Methuen. He is the proud uncle to Tyler A. Hamlin of Ipswich, Daniel & Michael Bennett both of Aberdeen, Scotland. He is also lovingly survived by his mother & father-in-law, John and Margaret (Murray) McKenzie of Aberdeen Scotland, his brother-in-law, Kenneth McKenzie & his wife, Anne & his sister-in-law, Linda Bennett & her husband, Stephen all of Aberdeen, Scotland.

Visiting Hours

Thursday, October 1st from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Perkins School for the Blind, 175 North Beacon St., Watertown, MA 02472-9982.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
