Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, January 27th, 2014 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Josephine A. (Ragusa) Dionisi, of Revere, who passed away on Wednesday, January 22nd at the Whidden Memorial Hospital following a brief illness, at 95 years.  A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, January 28th at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, in Revere, at 11 a.m.  Born and raised in East Boston, Josephine was educated in the Boston Public Schools system.  In 1940, she married Philip Dionisi, with whom she began her life and family, including a son & a daughter.  They remained in East Boston until moving to Revere in 1966, where she remained.  Josephine is a retiree of State Street Bank, where she had 20 years of employment as a Clerical Secretary.  Shortly after retiring from State Street Bank, Josephine then went to work at Baybank, in the same field for 17 years, retiring at 76 years of age.  For several years, Josephine dedicated her time as a volunteer at the Whidden Memorial Hospital, and also would spend time at the Rossetti Senior Center.  In 2001, she lost her husband of 61 years of marriage, Phillip Dionisi.  She is the devoted mother of: Philip R. Dionisi & his wife Anne of Salem, and Diane M. Iacuzio & her husband Gennaro “Jerry” of Revere.  She is the cherished grandmother of: Maria Dahlgren & her husband Rodney, Theresa Dionisi, and Christopher Dionisi all of Salem, Deanne L. Pedersen & her husband Thomas of North Andover, and Gerald Iacuzio & his wife Michiko of Wellesley.  She is the adored great-grandmother of: Kanata, Yuna, Koga & Adrianna.  She is the loving sister of Robert Ragusa of Peabody and the late Phyllis Salini, Margaret Spolsino & Elsie DeDonato.  Also lovingly survived by many nieces & nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.  Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.

    We are so sorry to learn of the passing of dear Josephine. She was such a pistol and lovely woman ! Take comfort in knowing that she is in a better place with her husband in heaven. If we can do anything, please let us know.

    Just wanted to let you know my thoughts are with you during this difficult time. Loss of a loved one is always difficult; your Mom was lucky to have such a caring and attentive family. You should be at peace with the fact you did everything you possibly could have for her.

    My mother was Millie who sat in the hallway with Jo at the Lighthouse.
    Jerry , you and I had many conversations about your mom- in- law and my mom. My Mom also died at the Whidden on Jan 22. My mom will be buried from Vertuccios on Monday .
    My thoughts and prayers are with you at this sad time.

    Gennaro and Diane

    My mom was Millie who sat in the hallway with Jo at the lighthouse. Gennaro you talked to me a lot in the hallway. My Mom passed away at the Whidden the same day as Jo and will be buried from Vertuccios/Smith on Monday.My prayers are with you both.they are in heaven .
