Kenneth R. “Rick” Melanson

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, December 17th, from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE, for Kenneth R. “Rick” Melanson, who passed valiantly loosing his five (5) year battle with cancer on Tuesday, December 12th at the Kaplan Family Hospice House of Danvers. A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, December 18th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), REVERE at 10:30 a.m.

Born in Malden, he lived most of his life in Saugus and was a 1992 alumnus of Saugus High School. Most of his working career was spent in the construction field as a laborer.

He is the adored son to Laura M. Datserakis of Saugus &  her husband, George, Kenneth R. Melanson Sr. & his wife, Shirley of Sandown, New Hampshire. He leaves his long-time companion, Melanie Hart of Saugus. He is the devoted father of Kayla, Ari, & Kenneth R. Melanson, III,  all of Saugus. He is the grandson to George Manfra of Middleton & his late wife, Carmella (Oliva) Morani-Manfra. He is the beloved brother of Ryan M. Melanson & his companion Melanie & Karisa C. Melanson, all of Saugus, John Datserakis, Andy Datserakis, both of Lynn, Cheyenne Melanson of Sandown, N.H. & the late Craig P.Melanson. He is also the cherished nephew to Gregory Morani & his wife, Jacqueline of Middleton, George Morani of Newburyport, Melinda Morani of Methuen, & the late Linda Morani. He is also  the loving uncle to Tyler Melanson & Natalia Melanson. He is also lovingly survived by his sister-in-law, Leonides Ortiz-Melanson of Saugus & many cousins. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

    Rick u will be deeply missed, will never forget when my mom passed. You n your family were thete 4 me, you were my back bone at that time.     My heart bleeds of this death . Rick was so strong a loving family man who truly loved his family. Out of everything he loved his family. My heart goes out to the family of Rick’s, may God heal all your hearts during this time of your life.
