Linda M. (Rigano) Giordano

Family & friends are respectfully invited to attend Visiting Hours on Tuesday, September 13th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt. 107) Revere to celebrate the life of Linda M. (Rigano) Giordano, who died on Thursday, September 8th at the Melrose – Wakefield Hospital in Melrose, following a one year valiant & defiant battle with lung cancer, she was 71 years old. A Funeral Service will be conducted in the Funeral Home at 7:00 p.m. Interment will be held privately in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Linda was born to her late parents, Basil & Nancy (Caruso) Rigano in Malden. She was raised & educated in Malden and attend Malden Public Schools. She was married to her former husband, Gerald L. Giordano, Sr. and moved to Revere where she raised her two children. Linda was a proud mother and also worked, at times, two jobs to support her family. She was extremely hardworking, fun loving & always ready for fun. She worked as a bartender at the Shipwreck Lounge on Revere Beach, working there for 40 years until they closed their doors. She later worked at the Keno Counter at Santarpio’s Restaurant in Peabody, until her health declined. Linda cherished her family and adored her grandchildren, more than life itself. She had many fond & special relationships with many close friends and family. She loved listening to country music and going to any casino or beach. She was also a fabulous baker and she always enjoyed sharing her treats with those she loved. Although her health declined, it didn’t stop her will to live and fight. She even worked during her illness and being around people was the best medicine for her, especially her family, she fought hardest for them.  Her presence, bright smile, & her sense of humor, will live on in each of those who loved her.

She is the loving mother of Renee L. Rodriguez & her husband Jamie, Sr. of Malden & Gerald “Jerry” Giordano, Jr. of Tampa, Florida. She is the cherished & proud nana of Janae M. Rodriguez, Jordan L. Rodriguez, both of Malden, Jamie M. Rodriguez, Jr. & wife Marissa of Winthrop, Gabrielle Giordano & Ariel Weatherbee both of Exeter, New Hampshire. She is the dear sister of Deborah Sica & her husband Richard of Malden, Basil Rigano, Jr. & his wife Andrea of Malden, Joanne Centrella of Tewksbury, Nancy Rigano of Malden, Angelo Rigano of Reading and the late Santi Rigano, Sr. & Anne Louise Corapi. She is the treasured aunt of Malden City Councilor Jadeane Sica of Malden, who was her caregiver for several years. She is also lovingly survived by her godchildren, Joe Centrella of Chester, New Hampshire and Arianna Rigano-Kelley of Malden, & many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews, her Aussie Poo “Cassie” & the late Lasso Apso “Bella Dora” whom she loved unconditionally.

In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.

Just heard about Linda’s passing today and I am so sorry to hear that. My deepest condolences to her family and loved ones.
Linda was a genuinely kind, loving and generous person. She had a heart of gold. She would give you the shirt off her back.
I had the pleasure of spending time with her when she got her diagnosis. She was giving Judy and me cooking lesions. She loved to cook and bake. Years ago she had us over teaching us how to bake an assortment of cookies. She was amazing. She will be sorely missed. Rest In Peace!

I am so sorry for your loss, Renee, Gerald, Jamie, Janae, Jordan & Debbie. I am thinking of you all. I am always here for all of you.

Linda was so very special to me and my family. She was best friends with my mom, Claire and we have so many fond memories. She was always so happy, kind, caring, and always thinking of us and everyone she was around. I am so glad I got to visit you in the hospital to say goodbye and see your smiling face, you dancing to the music that was playing. It broke my heart to see you in pain & I am glad you are not suffering anymore. I will miss you so much, Linda. May your RIP and fly high with the angels, now you are dancing with my mom and my brother Jimmy and all your loved ones already in heaven.

Oh my big sister, you will be a tough act to follow. I will never put smiles on so many peoples faces the way that you did. My days are empty now, you kept me busy for the past year and gave me a purpose. You were the best Mom and grandmother, not surprising because you had the best teacher…our Mom. Gerald and Renee had your unconditional love, and your grandchildren will never forget the love you had for them. They always put a smile on your face. We, the Rigano’s have another angel watching over us. Your pain is over, Mom, Dad, Santi and Chris have you now, so you are in good hands. Let Mom know I kept my word to her, did my best to take care of you.
Save a place for me up there, until we meet again, I always will love you. MISS YOU my sister.

Linda, you were my first new friend at Malden High where we started with Miss Levine’s homeroom, soon to become Mrs. Lebovitch. We had many good times through those years. Even when we would go a long time between visits, we could always pick up where we left off, completely comfortable with each other. I’m so sad that we fell out of touch in recent years. Time passes and we always think we have time.
I wish we still had time to talk and laugh together and catch up with each other. I will always remember you as the kind and caring person you always were to me.
To your children, grandchildren and siblings, I am so sorry for your loss.

It’s very sad to learn the passing of an amazing person and mom. Linda was like a 2nd mother to me growing up I met her when I was just 5 yrs old and spent more time in their back yard than my own. Every time I visited her she would make sure I always have a full stomach when I left her home she was an amazing cook. She will be missed by everyone and myself. It’s most difficult to see my friends Jerry and Renee lose their mom. Rest in peace Linda and thank you for many years of great memories. Huggs
