Margaret M. “Peggy” (Sweeney) Battista

At 79 years, in Revere, formerly of Charlestown, on Sunday, May 3rd, most unexpectedly. Beloved wife of 57 years to Gerald A. “Jay” Battista. Cherished mother of Annmarie DePietro & her husband Alfred of No. Andover, Carolyn Thorng & her husband Eric of Pleasanton, CA, Andrea Oriola & her husband Paul of Winthrop & Gerald A. Battista & his wife Monique of Lynnfield. Adored grandmother of Cassandra, Nicholas, Gabriella, Liam & Madison. Dear sister to Ann Marie Sweeney of Scituate, James Sweeney & his wife Christina of Bethesda, MD, Stephen “Steve” Sweeney of Quincy & the late Carol Lefebvre. Also lovingly survived by her brother-in-law Edgar Lefebvre of Plymouth, MA & many faithful nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. Dear sister-in-law to Carol A. Pedi of Plymouth, MA & her late husband Paul S. Pedi. Treasured sister-in-law to the late Patricia E. Bolton. Faithful daughter to the late James & Margaret (Donovan) Sweeney & special daughter-in-law to the late Anthony J. & Anna M. (Longo) Battista.

“Peggy” was born & raised in Charlestown & came to live in Revere in 1963 when she married. She was an alumna of Boston State College, Class of 1962. “Peggy” worked alongside her husband “Jay” in the family business, Revere Sporting Goods, Broadway, Revere for over 20 years until 1993. “Jay” & “Peggy” were winter residents of Naples, FL & both were members of the Royal Wood Golf & Country Club of Naples & locally, in Melrose were members of the Bellevue Country Club.

Saturday, August 8th at 10:30 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere

We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
