Marie A. (Falanga) McGunigle

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, February 27th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) REVERE, for Marie A. (Falanga) McGunigle, who died on Friday, February 23rd at the Chelsea Jewish Nursing Home, following a brief illness. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, February 28th at 10:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 670 Washington Ave., REVERE at 11:00 a.m.

Marie was born, raised & educated in East Boston. She was an alumna of East Boston High School, Class of 1954. For many years, she was a salesperson at Logan Airport’s “Duty Free” Shop and later would be a receptionist & secretary for Fleetwood Recording of Revere. While at Fleetwood, she made many social & life-long friends lasting her life span. Living in East Boston, the family then moved, in 1967, to Revere. A devotee of St. Mary of the Assumption Parish, she was an active member of several sodalities & fraternal groups in the church. She was appointed as a Eucharistic Minister for the parish and truly was proud of her function within the parish family.

She was married to the late Hilary J. McGunigle, Jr., for over forty years, until his death on December 31, 2001. She is the cherished mother to Maureen A. McGunigle of Revere, Roseann C. Terrazzano & her husband, Vincent J. of Manchester, New Hampshire & Hilary J. McGunigle of Malden. She was the devoted grandmother to Derrick V. Terrazzano of Manchester, New Hampshire & Joshua J. McGunigle of Saugus. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
