Marie A. Gioiosa

Word has been received here, of the untimely death of Marie A. Gioiosa, formerly of East Boston & Winthrop, in Toms River, New Jersey, on Wednesday, August 14th, 2013 following a long two-year battle with metastatic cancer.  Ms. Gioiosa died at the Hospice of Toms River, NJ, at 62 years.  Ms. Gioiosa moved to Toms River, NJ over 20 years ago & up to very recently worked for the Lakewood, New Jersey Board of Education as a Teacher’s Aide (Para Professional), for all that time.  A native of East Boston, she was a 1969 alumna of Fitton Catholic High School & an alumna of Bryant-Stratton Business College – Class of 1971.  She lived in Winthrop for about ten years before moving to Toms River, NJ.  She is the beloved mother of: Jonathan Elliott of Lovell, Maine, & Lieutenant Robert Elliott, United States Army, of Germany.  She is the dear fiancee of John Conway, with whom she made her home.  She was the devoted daughter of the late, Daniel & Josephine (Geraci) Gioiosa.  She is the cherished Sister of: Charles Gioiosa & his wife Barbara Brainin of Seattle, Washington, Denise Giangregorio & her husband Alan of Winthrop, John Gioiosa & his wife Mary of Malden, Anne Gioiosa & her wife Linda Stiles of Saugus, & the late, Anthony Gioiosa.  She is also lovingly survived by several nieces, nephews, & cousins.  Services were held in Toms River.  A memorial mass will be celebrated at a time & place to be announced.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
