Mary E. (Barbarosa) Martin

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, November 13th, 2012 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere for Mary E. (Barbarosa) Martin, who passed on Friday, November 9th at the Don Orione Nursing Home in East Boston following a long illness, at 93 years.  The funeral service will be conducted on Wednesday, November 14th from the funeral home at 10 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service in the Funeral Home at 11 a.m., followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Mrs. Martin was born & raised in East Boston, & was a 1936 alumna of East Boston High School.  She had a long & varied career with SS Pierce & Co. of Boston, one of Boston’s Premier Grocery & Produce Suppliers.  Mrs. Martin retired following a 25 year career as a Manager & Supervisor.  She lived in East Boston all of her life until June of 1979, when she & her husband, the late William H. Martin, Jr. returned to Ohio, Mr. Martin’s home.  He died in Ohio in 1994 & Mary remained there until 2001, when she returned to Massachusetts, settling in Winthrop.  She is the Devoted Mother of Susan A. Winn & her husband Joseph M. Winn of East Boston, & the late William H. Martin, III, who died in June of 1978.  She is the Adored Grandmother of: Melissa J. Fortune & her husband David of Amesbury, MA, Lynn M. Orlando & her partner Lawrence Nestor of Danvers, Janice L. Moreth & her husband Craig E. Russell of Winthrop, & William M. Winn & his companion Annie Quinlan of East Boston.  She is the  beloved great-grandmother of: Kristina M. Stoico & her fiance Adam Veinott of West Boylston, MA, Michael K. Slattery of Nottingham, NH, Briana L. Ferullo of Amesbury, MA, Collin M. Lewis of Winthrop, Joseph W. & Leah A. Winn, both of East Boston.  Also lovingly survived by her Great-Great-Grandson, Luke M. Oberlin, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.  She was the Dear Sister of the Late: Celia D’Christoforo, Delphine Barannco, Evelyn Hembrough, Theodore, Leo, Raymond, Louis & John Barbarosa.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis, TN 38101-9908.

We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
