Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, June 3rd, 2013 in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, from 4 – 8 p.m. for Retired Revere Police Sergeant Nicholas A. Melchionno, Jr., who died after a year long illness in the Kaplan Family Hospice House of Danvers on Friday, May 31st.  Born in Revere, he attended Revere schools & was a 1952 alumnus of Revere High School.  He entered the United States Air Force in October of 1951 & served until January of 1955 as an Airman 1st Class.  He is a Veteran of Korea.  He served 27 years with the Revere Police, retiring prematurely due to illness.  A proud veteran, he was a member of the American Legion Post #61 for many years, active in many of their club charities, as well as the charities that the Revere Police supported.  He was also a long-time member of the Saugus Knights of Columbus.  He leaves his beloved wife of 57 years, Phyllis M. (Giso).  He is also the devoted Father of Karyn Maglione & her husband Joseph, & Lisa A. Melchionno, all of Revere.  He is the Cherished Grandfather of Nicholas Maglione & Brianna R. Carney, both of Revere, & the late Joseph A. Maglione.  He was also the brother of the late Richard A. Melchionno.  He is also lovingly survived by his wife’s family, & many nieces & nephews.  Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to: The Joseph A. Maglione Scholarship Fund at Revere High School, c/o East Boston Savings Bank, 575 Broadway, Revere, MA 02151.

Funeral Mass

Tuesday, June 4th, 2013 at 12 Noon in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere.

Interment

Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
