Norma A. (Albano) Gioia

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Sunday April 30th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE, for Norma A. (Albano) Gioia, who passed on Wednesday, April 26th at her Revere residence following a long illness. Her funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Monday, May 1st at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., REVERE at 11:00 a.m.

Mrs. Gioia was born & raised in Boston’s North End and attended school in Boston schools. She & her family moved to Revere over 55 years ago from Boston’s North End. For over 30 years, she worked as a Supervisory Matron for Wonderland Dog Racetrack of Revere, retiring in 1996. Norma was the quintessential Mom, Grandmother & Great-Grandmother, always enjoying her time with her family and extended family. Her late husband Frank A. Gioia, Sr. died on March 12, 1989.

She is the cherished mother of Frank A. Gioia Jr. & Ann Hanslin, both of Revere, Anthony Gioia & his wife Dianne of Peabody, Mark T. Gioia of North Salem, New Hampshire. She is the devoted grandmother to Atty. Frank J. Gioia & his wife Cristen of Los Angeles, Ca. & Moultonboro, N. H., Tanya M. Johnson of Revere, John C. Johnson & his wife Donna of Lake Worth, Florida & Anthony P. Hanslin of San Diego, Calif. She is also the dear sister of Claire-Filippone of Revere & her husband Andrew A. & the late Rose Pisano, Marie C. Luongo & William R. Albano. Also lovingly survived by her five Great-Grand-Children; Briana, Destiny, Juliana, Jessica & Jeffrey & many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. Daughter of the late Nicholas A. & Etta (Amato) Albano. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
