Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, November 3rd, 2012 from 3 – 7 p.m. in the Nichols Funeral Home, 187 Middlesex Ave. (Route 62), Wilmington, for Ralph Carrozza, Jr., who died unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 30, at 61 years.  A funeral service will be held in the Nichols Funeral Home following the visitation on Saturday evening at 7:15 p.m.  Mr. Carrozza died at Holy Family Medical Center of Methuen, after being stricken at his Salem, New Hampshire home.  Born in Boston, he lived in Revere & attended Revere schools, & was a 1969 alumnus of St. Mary’s High School, Lynn.  The family were residents of Newman St., Revere for over 25 years before moving to Wilmington in 1975, where he remained until he moved to Salem, NH in 2008.  Since age 19 years, Ralph began a career in stone masonry, a trade that was intrinsic to his late father’s family.  His Paternal Grandfather, David Carrozza, was known as the “Master of Masonry” throughout the Commonwealth.  Two other uncles also spent their working careers in the masonry trades.  About 15 years ago, he returned to school & earned his teaching certificate & began a teaching career in Master Stone Masonry at Shawsheen Valley Technical High School, of Billerica.  “Mr. C” as he was affectionately dubbed, became an icon at the school & his loss is deeply felt among the students & his colleagues.  He is the beloved husband of Sheilah M. (Brunelle) Mulcahy-Carrozza of Salem, NH.  He is the Devoted Father of, Susan M. Carrozza of Malden & Christine A. Carrozza of Billerica.  He is the Dear Brother of, Rachel E. Stanchi & her husband, Carmen A. of Wilmington.  He is also lovingly survived by, Seana Mulcahy & Jason A. Mulcahy both of Andover & Makenzie B. Mulcahy of Salem, NH, & his adoring Grandson, Logan K. Mulcahy.  He is also the Dear Uncle to Michelle M. Stanchi of Wilmington & Michael R. Stanchi & his wife, Kathryn “Kate” of Winthrop.  Several Aunts, Uncles & Cousins also survive him.  He as also the son of the late, Ralph Sr. & Edith D. (Saponaro) Carrozza.  His mother died in March of 2012 & his father in November of 2009.  His first wife for over 25 years, Frances E. (Nardone) Carrozza, died in October of 2004.  He was a long-time member of the International Union of Bricklayers & Allied Craftsmen, Local #3 & a member of the Massachusetts Teachers’ Association, & the Shawsheen Valley Teachers’ Association.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to: Shawsheen Valley Technical High School, 100 Cook St., Billerica, MA 01821, ATTN: Athletic Department.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
