Rita A. (Vigliotta) Rappa

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Wednesday, September 18th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE for Rita A. (Vigliotta) Rappa, who passed after a brief illness at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center of Revere on Monday, September 16th. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, September 19th at 9:30 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service in the funeral home at 10:30 a.m., and immediately followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born & raised in Lynn, Mrs. Rappa was a 1951 alumna of Lynn Classical High School. Always remembered as an extraordinary “family woman”, keeping the welfare & health of her family (her husband, her sons, their wives & her grandchildren) foremost in her mind & her heart. Her extended family of nieces & will long remember their aunt as a devoted & loving element of their huge Vigliotta family. 

She is the adored wife of 64 years to Ret. Revere Fire Cpt. Fred A. Rappa. Devoted mother of Fred A. Rappa, Jr. & wife Eleanor of Point of Pines, Revere & Stephen J. Rappa, Sr. & wife Joanne of Georgetown. Cherished grandmother of Kristen M. Tavano & husband Joseph of Salem, MA, Michael S. Rappa & wife Allison of Swampscott, Saugus Police Sgt. Steven J. Rappa, Jr. & wife Elizabeth of Saugus & Amanda L. Moses & husband Scott of Georgetown. Dear sister of Jean O’Brien of Lynn & her late husband Robert & the late Mary C. Noyer & late husband Gordon, Gennaro Vigliotta, III & late wife Aurora, Pasqualena “Lena” Serino & late husband Samuel, Ida Durant & late husband Bernard, Angelina “Ann” Rappa & late husband William, Evelyn McDermott & late husband Raymond, Pasquale “Patsy” Vigliotta & late wife Mary & Robert A. “Boddy” Vigliotta & late wife Joan. She is also lovingly survived by 6 great grandchildren: Christopher, Alexandria, Scott, Melody, Emily & Kennedy & survived by many respectful nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
