Robert A. Alvino, Sr.

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Sunday, February 26th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway, (Rte.107), REVERE for Robert A. Alvino, Sr., who passed on Tuesday, February 21st at the Melrose-Wakefield Hospital, Melrose, unexpectedly following a lengthy illness. His funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Monday, February 27th at 9:00 a.m. followed by the Funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., REVERE at 10:00AM.

Mr. Alvino was born, raised, educated & lived all his life in Revere. He was a 1941 alumnus of Revere High School. He joined the U.S. Navy in January of 1943 & served until May of 1946 with the rank of Coxswain. Mr. Alvino had a working career with General Electric of Lynn & held the position of Senior Radio Drill Operator for almost forty years. He was a long-time member of the Revere Lodge-SOI, Giuseppe Mazzini Lodge of Revere. Mr. Alvino was also a devotee of St. Anthony’s Parish Community.

He was the husband of the late Mary A. (Procopio) Alvino, who died on September 23rd, 2013 after 65 years of marriage. He is the cherished father to Anthony M. Alvino & his wife Carol of Danvers & Robert A. Alvino, Jr. of Revere, with whom he made his home. He is the devoted grandfather of Anthony J.”TJ” Alvino & his wife Kristi of Beverly, Ma., Paula M. Potvin & her husband Benjamin & Michelle C. L’Italien & her husband Peter, all of Salem, Ma. He is also the dear brother of Charles “Chicko” Alvino of Revere & the late Edward, Paul, Ernest & Frank Alvino, Rose M. “Tina” Giamattei, Sophie Giberti, Helen L. Mastrogiovanni and Louise Marino. He is also lovingly survived by his six (6) great-grandchildren; Molly, Gracelyn, Brent, Jack, Jamison & Cole & many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
