Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, March 25th, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Robert P. Dinan, Sr., who died on Thursday, March 21st at his Saugus residence, following a long illness, at 75 years.  The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, March 26th at 10 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service in the funeral home at 11 a.m.  Interment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.  Born & raised in Boston’s Dorchester section, he attended local schools & was a 1955 alumnus of Cathedral High School of Boston.  Always a sports buff, he opened a shop for buying & trading baseball cards & other sports memorabilia. The shop was known as “Dinan Sporting Goods” & later as “The Locker Room.”  He owned & operated the shop for over 40 years in Quincy.  He was a coach for the Southeast Babe Ruth League for many years, & in 2009, he was inducted into the Quincy Baseball Hall of Fame.  He was also a member of the Quincy Council-Knights of Columbus.  For many years, as a resident of Saugus, he was a “popular” crossing guard, retiring in 2010.  He is the beloved husband of 39 years to Carol A. (Howell).  He is the devoted father of: Robert P. Dinan, Jr. of Marston Mills, MA, John F. Dinan of Sandwich, MA, Joanne Bryant of Charleston, SC, Kevin J. Dinan & his companion, Jen Foesig of Trinidad, CA, & Kerri A. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
