Samuel Russell Segee

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Sunday, January 23rd from 2:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE for Samuel Russell Segee who died on Sunday, January 16th at the Massachusetts General Hospital in Boston, he was 84 years old. All other Funeral Services will be held privately. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. 

Sam was born in Winthrop but was a lifelong Revere Resident. He was born to Waldo H. & Helen E. (Spence) Segee. He was one of four boys. Sam was educated in Revere and was a proud alumnus of Revere High School, Class of 1955. Sam enlisted in the United States Army during the Vietnam Conflict on November 9, 1960, and proudly served his country until November 3, 1962. He was honorably discharged at the rank of Private First Class. When Sam returned home, he began working at the First National Grocery Stores. He worked there for 27 years as a Dairy Manager, until they closed in 1980. He then sought employment in the Commercial Cleaning Industry, in and around Boston. He did this type of work until his retirement. Sam was an active man. He would enjoy long walks, daily exercise and was very conscious about his diet. He was a very regimented person. Sam enjoyed taking trips to the Casino. He enjoyed Mohegan Sun, as well as his yearly trips with his brother Gene & sister-in-law Jean to Las Vegas, New Orleans, the Bahamas & more recently the Encore. Sam was also an avid golfer and for many years, he and his brothers met every Wednesday to play golf together.

He is the beloved son of the late Waldo H. Segee & Helen E. (Spence) Segee. The cherished brother of Richard I. Segee & his late wife Marilyn of Revere, Eugene B. “Gene” Segee & wife Jean of Salem, NH & Ronald M. Segee, whom he shared his home with of Revere. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, & grandnephews.

In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the American Heart Association, 300 5th Ave, Waltham, MA 02451.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
