Theresa M. (Poto) Meads

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Monday, July 17th in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107), Revere for Theresa M. (Poto) Meads, who passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, July 11th after being stricken at her home & taken to Beverly Hospital. Her funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Tuesday, July 18th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Agnes Church, 22 Boston St., MIDDLETON at 11:00 a.m. Interment services will be held privately.

Born & raised in East Boston, she was an alumna of Fitton Catholic Central High School, Class of 1953. Theresa & her late husband, Stanley lived in East Boston, then moved to Revere for over 45 years, before moving to Middleton about five years ago. Mrs. Meads was a stay at home Mom, serving & spoiling her husband & two sons, daily. Her ability to spoil & indulge was not confined to her immediate family. Grandchildren,  and now especially her dear great granddaughter, Mia Rose,  have also been the recipients of her never ending love & attention. Theresa thoroughly enjoyed her family. Among her epiphanies in life, five years ago, when she relocated to Middleton, she came upon St. Agnes Church in Middleton. This chapel-like Parish became a tremendous source of comfort, peace & joy for her & the rest of the family. Her late husband, Stanley J. Meads, who died on August 22, 2014, passed following a very long & agonizing period of declining health and without the nurturing and comfort that St. Agnes Parish & their community provided the struggle would have been impossible. Her kindness & overwhelming generosity to St. Agnes is rather unique & inspiring.

She is the cherished mother to Gary J. Meads & his wife Patricia of Revere & Mark M. Meads, the Proprietor of Rapid Flow, Inc. & his wife Roberta of Middleton. She is the the devoted grandmother of Amanda M. Meads & Mark A. Meads, both of Middleton. Dear sister to Philomena Betano & her late husband Roy of East Boston, Eleanor T. Hitchings & her late Husband Kenneth of Revere. She is also lovingly survived by her sisters-in-law; Philomena “Philly” Meads of East Boston & Theresa Merino of Peabody. “GGT” also leaves her precious great-granddaughter Mia Rose, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews & her dear friends, Rosemary “Buzzy “Russo” & her husband Joseph of Winchester. A special remembrance to Theresa’s late canine companion “Teddy”.

I remember Stanley and Teresa in Revere on North St. They were a fun couple Stanley telling jokes and Teresa his best audience. Their 2 sons Gary and Mark played with my kids and came to my pool all the time they were no trouble at all . I remember they always had a dog a boxer type so well kepted . I moved away, but the Meads remained and every now and then I’d run into Stanley.. They were a good combination for a couple God Bless them both.. Love Liana❤️

Send your condolences.

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
Faithfully,

Your friends at Vertuccio Smith and Vazza.
