Thomas E. McCarthy

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Saturday, February 15th, from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) to 3:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio and Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway  (Rt. 107) REVERE for Thomas E. McCarthy, who died on Sunday February 9th in his Beachmont home, with his loving family by his side after a most courageous battle with Pancreatic Cancer, he was 54 years old. Tom had a final request, that all of his friends & family who attend his visitation, please be dressed casually, wear a Boston Sports Team T- Shirt or that of a favorite Band T-shirt. Interment will be private.

Tom was a very proud lifelong resident of the Beachmont section in Revere. He was an alumnus of Revere High School, Class of 1983. He married Anne (Sciarappa) on April 1st, 1990. Later this year, they would have celebrated their 30th wedding anniversary. They remained in Revere, where they raised their two daughters, Teresa & Amanda.  Tom worked as a Group Leader in the Printing Division for Massachusetts Medical Society, a position he held for over 31 years until his health declined. Anyone who knew Tom, knew that he was more than just a Boston Sports Fan, he was unequivocally an enthusiast & collector. Tom loved his Boston Sports Teams, but the Patriots & Red Sox were his favorites. Although, he did very much enjoy watching the Celtics during the Larry Bird Era. Tom was a very humble man who was dedicated to his family. He was a modest man, and even at this time of sorrow, he wouldn’t want people mourning him, but to be celebrating his life with memories & a toast or two.

He is the devoted husband of Anne T. (Sciarappa) McCarthy of Revere. Proud & loving father of Teresa A. McCarthy – O’Hara & husband Revere Police Officer Kevin O’Hara of Beverly & Amanda M. McCarthy & companion Justin E. Esiason of Worcester. Beloved son of the late Joseph F., Sr. & Elizabeth A. (Tupper) McCarthy. Cherished brother of Joseph F. McCarthy & wife Anne of Rockland & Kathleen E. Maxwell & husband Michael of Hookset, New Hampshire. Dear son-in-law of Sandra Sciarappa & husband Alphonse “Al” Yoviene of Boynton Beach, Florida & dear brother-in-law of Catherine M. Murray of Malden. He is also survived by many loving nieces & nephews.

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.
On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
Thank you for your friendship and continued support.
God bless you all.
Faithfully,

Your friends at Vertuccio Smith and Vazza.
