Timothy A. Perris

Family & friends are invited to attend a graveside service on Monday, November 3rd, 2014 in Pine Grove Cemetery, 145 Boston St., Lynn, at 11 a.m. for Timothy A. Perris, who died following a long illness at his Haverhill residence on Tuesday, October 28th at 85 years.  (Family & friends will gather at the Main Gate of the cemetery at 10:45 a.m.).  Born & raised in Greece, he served in the Greek Army & came to the United States in 1957.  Upon marrying Demetra (Jenis) of Lynn, the couple lived briefly in Lynn before moving to West Peabody for five years.  They left Massachusetts & took up residency in Queens, New York, where Mr. Perris entered the computer programing profession.  He quickly rose in rank & became Manager of the computer company for over 7 years.  Upon returning to Massachusetts, they set up home in Groveland, MA, where they owned & operated their own “Richdale’s,” an early pioneer in the convenience store industry.  They (both Mr. & Mrs. Perris) ran their business for forty years until retirement.  In 2009, they moved to Haverhill, MA.  Mr. Perris was a member of the AHEPA (American Helenic Educational Progressive Association) & was a member of St. George Greek Orthodox Church, of Lynn. Mr. & Mrs. Perris have been long time members of Holy Apostles, St. Peter & St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church in Haverhill, MA.  He is the beloved husband of 60 years to Demetra (Jenis) Perris.  He is the cherished father of: Nina Katsos & her husband Louis of Mansfield, MA, & Paul T. Perris & his wife Pauline of Biddeford, Maine.  He is the devoted grandfather of: Christina A. Katsos & her fiancée Salil A. Tamhane of Evanston, Illinois, John T. Katsos of Charlottesville, Virginia, Stephanie D. Katsos of Oakton, Virginia, Joanna E. Katsos of Chestnut Hill, MA, & Brent A. Perris of Amesbury, MA.  Several nieces & nephews also survive him in Greece.  Remembrances may be made to: St. George Greek Orthodox Church, 11 Church St., Lynn, MA 01905 or Holy Apostles, St. Peter & St. Paul Greek Orthodox Church, 154 Winter St. Haverhill, MA 01830.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
