Virginia M. (Rose) French


Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Tuesday, July 16th from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere, for Virginia M. (Rose) French, who passed on Tuesday, July 9th at the Whidden Memorial Hospital, following a brief illness. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, July 17th at 10:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private.

Mrs. French was a 1944 alumna of Immaculate Conception High School. Most of her working career was as a Salesperson for the former Almy’s Department Store at Northgate Shopping Center, for over 20 years. She was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt & friend to many.

She is the beloved wife of 72 years to Elmer S. French and the adored mother of Virginia “Gina” L. Imbaro & her husband, Robert of Dedham, Nancy M. Kaplan & her husband, George of North Reading & Ronald P. French & his wife, Cheryl of Melrose. She is the cherished grandmother to Rosalind V. Imbaro & Jeffrey B. Imbaro, both of Waltham, Ellen M. Oteri & husband, Patrick of Merrimac, Amy E. DiLillo & husband, Mark of Plymouth, Ronald P. French, Jr. & wife, Lindsey of Dover, N.H., Lauren M. French of Londonderry, N.H., Andrew A. French & his wife, Heather of Barrington, NH., Adrianna, Jake & Max Petitpas, all of Melrose. She is also lovingly survived by 5 great-grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and also by her best friend, Emily Lind of Londonderry, N.H.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
