Walter M. Bruce
Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Funeral Mass on Saturday, January 26th, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere, for Walter M. Bruce, who died following a brief illness on Saturday, January 19th, at Genesis of Wakefield, at 76 years. Born in Chelsea, he lived in Revere all his life, & was a 1954 graduate of Revere High School. He was also a 1950 alumnus of the Immaculate Conception Grammar School. He soon entered the United States Army, during the Korean Conflict & served for over 4 years. Walter spent many years driving special needs children in the early busing days. He is most remembered for his many years on the Beach (Revere Beach), working many of the local cafes & lounges as a Bartender, especially at Buddy’s Cafe & Bill Ash’s Pizza. He was a member of the Revere Lodge of Elks #1171. He was the beloved son of the late, M. Walter Bruce & Eleanor (Morgan) Bruce. He is the dear father of Steven Ryan of Raymond, NH & Kimberly Richard & her husband, Mark of Hanover, NH. He is the Devoted Brother to Retired State Police Sergeant James R. Bruce of Winthrop & his late wife, Carole P. Bruce, Eleanor “Sissy” Bruce-Kelley & her husband Robert N. Kelley of Fort Lauderdale, FL & New Hampshire, Barbara Bruce-Meade & her husband, Franklin “Frank” Meade of Revere & Marilyn A. Symmes of Winthrop. He is also lovingly survived by three Grandchildren, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews, & the large extended Morgan family on his Mom’s side here in Revere & throughout the North Shore. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108. Interment will be held privately.
