William F. “Billy” McCarthy

William F. “Billy” McCarthy died most unexpectedly on Tuesday, January 7th, 2014 after being stricken at work, in the kitchen at New Bridge Cafe, Chelsea, at 53 years.  He was pronounced dead at the Whidden Memorial Hospital, Everett, where he had been rushed.  Born in Revere, he was raised & educated in Everett, & was a 1978 alumnus of Everett High School.  ”Billy” spent most of his life in the Chelsea-Everett area.  He was a member of the 5-2 Club of Chelsea.  Never having married, he had a particular devotion to his parents, brothers, sister, their spouses, & their children.  His loss will be intensely served, not only with his cherished family, but with the many, many friends & colleagues he has enjoyed over the years.Beloved son of the late Francis J. McCarthy and Dorothy A. (Sabbagh) McCarthy-DeLuca and the late Steven P. DeLuca. Devoted brother of Francis J. McCarthy, Jr. and his wife Joanne of Everett, Patricia A. Muollo and her husband Christopher C. of Groveland, Kevin A. McCarthy and his wife Rhonda F. of Salisbury. Cherished uncle of Aeriell, Eric, Maegan, Rachel, Christopher, Stan, Chris, Joe and Alyssa. Also lovingly survived by two aunts and two uncles, Harriet J. Hamhoomis of Melrose, Claire McCarthy of Charlestown, Edward McCarthy of Lynnfield and Gerard Alterio of Wakefield and a grand nephew, Christopher Choquette. Family and friends are invited to attend the Funeral from the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt. 107), REVERE on Saturday January 11 at 9:30 A.M., followed by a Funeral Mass in Our Lady of Grace Church, Nichols Street, on the Chelsea-Everett line at 10:30 A.M. Visiting hours are Friday only 4:00 P.M.-8:00 P.M. Parking available left of the Funeral Home, Interment in Woodlawn Cemetery. Member of the 5-2 Club of Chelsea. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
