Winifred A. Gard – Perkins

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Saturday, June 30th, 2012 from 11 a.m. – 1 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Winifred A. “Winnie” Gard-Perkins, who died on Wednesday, June 27th at the Academy Manor Nursing Home of Andover, following a long illness, at 82 years.  The funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home at 1:15 p.m.  Born in Winthrop, she was raised & spent over 45 years in East Boston, graduating from East Boston High School, Class of 1947.  Most of her working career was spent as a bookkeeper for the former Carmel Credit Union of Chelsea, a position she retired from after 25 years of service.  Leaving East Boston, she moved to Saugus, Wilmington, & Limerick, Maine, before moving to Tewksbury in 2008, when she & her husband moved to her daughter’s home.  She is the beloved wife of 30 years to Richard L. Perkins & the wife of the late, Joseph M. Gard.  She is the Cherished mother of Susan J. Nota & her husband Thomas of Tewksbury, & JoAnn Gard & her partner Harry R. Dunham of Assonet, MA.  Devoted grandmother of: Gregory T. Nota & his wife Dyanne of Dracut, MA, Christopher R. Nota & his wife Kerry of North Andover, Thomas C. Nota & his wife Sarah of Stoughton, & Harry E. Dunham of Assonet, MA.  She is the Dear sister of Joseph J. Infantino & his wife Dottie of Spring Hill, Florida, & the late: May F. McDaniel & Ann R. Davis.  She is also lovingly survived by her Great-Grandson, Ryan G. Nota, & many nieces & nephews.  Interment is private.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Residents’ Council Fund, Academy Manor Nursing Home, 89 Morton St., Andover, MA 01810-2036.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
