Ann (Gymziak) Vozella
Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Tuesday, July 10th for Ann (Gymziak) Vozella, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) REVERE. Mrs. Vozella died on Tuesday, July 3rd in the Salem Woods Nursing Home of Salem, New Hampshire, following a lengthy struggle with Alzheimer’s Disease. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, July 11th at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service in the funeral home at 11:00 a.m., immediately followed by interment at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
Born & raised in Chelsea, Ann was an alumna of Chelsea High School, Class of 1960. Her working career included her bookkeeping position at Vozella Electric of Chelsea for several years. Later, she would hold the position of “Substitute” Teacher in St. Stanislaus School of Chelsea. Ann & Tony lived in Chelsea & Winthrop for many years, until moving to Salem, New Hampshire in 1974. Although, geographically, they were at a distance, they kept a tight & firm grip on their friends & friendships they made in Chelsea & Winthrop. She was a remarkable homemaker and care-giver for her family. She had an avid interest in many topics, which accounted for her avid interest in books. One of the prized & dearest possession of Ann’s was her books (volumes and boxes).
She is the beloved wife of 41 years to Anthony S. Vozella of Salem, NH & formerly of Chelsea. She is the cherished mother to Kelly Anne Dortona & her husband David of Salem, N.H., Christopher J. Manning of Londonderry, NH, Anthony V. Vozella & his wife Nancy of Saugus, Susan M. Goss & her husband Robert “Bobby” of Everett & the late Linda Greene & her late husband Paul. Ann is the dear sister to John Gymziak & his wife Linda of Georgetown & the late Raymond Gymziak. She is the devoted grandmother to Mark R. Wehrer, Annemarie J. Wehrer, Adam & Callie Michalsky, Jason T. Michalsky, Jaime B. Vozella, Anthony Vozella, IV, Stephanie Vozella, Paul Greene, Nicholas “Nick” Greene, Robert “Bobby” Goss, Lance Goss, Donnie, Bobby & Matt Dortona & the late Angelina Goss & Katie Vozella. She is also lovingly survived by seven great-grandchildren; Nathan Goss-Ventullo, C.J. Goss, Matthew & Mia Goss, Paul Greene, Caylee Hickman, Camila Goss & the late Brodie Goss-Feeley. Several aunts, uncles, nieces & nephews also survive her.

James J. “Buddy” Phillips
Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Service to be conducted at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett on Tuesday, July 10th at 1:30 p.m. Please gather inside the front gate at Woodlawn Cemetery & then we will proceed to the gravesite.
Born & raised in Revere, “Buddy” was an alumnus of the Class of 1942, Revere High School. He joined the U.S. Navy & served as a Seaman 1st Class from January 30th, 1943 thru January 31, 1946. Among his commendations from the U.S. Navy, he was awarded one Silver Star, a most prestigious accomplishment. For most of his working career, he worked with the Department of Public Works in Revere as a Class A Painter. He took a fairly early retirement and enjoyed many years with his wife & family. He was most proud of his memberships in Fraternal Organizations, especially his affiliation & his active support to the Beachmont V.F.W. Post 6712. He was also a member of the Beachmont Yacht Club. “Buddy ” lived almost all his life in Beachmont Revere and Revere, i.e., off Broadway.
He was the beloved husband of the late, Anna May (Anderson) Phillips, who passed May 15, 2008. He is the devoted father to Terese Phillips of Bedford & the late Karen Phillips & the late Eric J. Phillips. He is the cherished grandfather to Candice J. Yontz of Colorado, Brianna J. & Kayla A. Phillips, both of Wilton, N.H. He is the dear brother of Robert Phillips & his wife, Barbara of Warwick, R.I. & the late, Lorraine Wheelock & her late husband Paul of Orient Heights, East Boston.

Salvatore J. “Sammy” Capizzi, Jr.
Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, July 12th from 9:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), REVERE for Salvatore J. “Sammy” Capizzi, Jr., who passed unexpectedly on Monday, July 2nd at his residence in Boston’s North End. The Funeral Service will be conducted following the visitation at 11:15 a.m., and immediately followed by interment in Lakeside Cemetery, Wakefield.
Born & raised in Boston’s North End, he attended schools there. “Sammy”, as he was affectionately known, was a care-giver to all, but especially his Mom. His friends & family have regaled with stories and events that “Sammy” was the main character in coming to the aid of his friends and acquaintances. However, it is agreed that he would want to be remembered for the special and extraordinary care he was able to give his Mom. His sisters are both proud and comforted that “Sammy” took on the role of senior care-giver and has brought his Mom to the most notable age of 94 years (ninety-four).
“Sammy” is the beloved & devoted son to Gladys (Boardman) Capizzi & the late Salvatore J. Capizzi, Sr., of Boston’s North End. He is the cherished brother to Gladys “Joan” Green & her companion, Arthur Kyriakidis & Louise Morani, all of Quincy, Shirley R. Capizzi-Anderson & her companion, Alan B. Segal of Revere, Gale Deuterio & her companion, Paul Deuterio of No. Reading, Sonja Harrison & her companion, James Coakley of Malden & the late Michael Capizzi. “Sammy” is also lovingly survived by several aunts, uncles & many nieces, nephews, cousins & a large extended family.

Doris E. (Weeks) Boyington

(Weeks) Boyington, who passed peacefully at her Moultonborough, N.H. residence on Monday, July 2nd. Born & raised in Revere, she was an alumna of Revere High School, Class of 1936. Doris began her working career with the former Forbes Lithograph of Revere until securing a position with the American Fore Royalty Group Ins. of Boston. She then sought a position with Hood Milk Co. of Charlestown, MA, for about ten years. She married Lincoln E. Boyington of Revere in June of 1941 & the couple remained in Revere until June of 1981, when they bought their home in Moultonborough, New Hampshire. Lincoln died rather unexpectedly in August of 1982.
Doris was the cherished mother to Roger F. Boyington & his wife, Ruth of North Conway, N.H., Brian E. Boyington & his wife, Melody of Oviedo, Florida, Donald E. Boyington & his wife, Patricia of Freedom, N.H. & Donna M. Snow of Moultonborough, N.H. She is the dear sister to Reverend Frank H. Weeks & his wife, Madelyn of Cranston, Rhode Island & the late Warren M. Weeks & Elmer E. Weeks. She is also lovingly survived by ten 10 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren & 5 great-great grandchildren. Many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews survive her as well.

Paul C. Zellen
Funeral services & interment were held privately for Paul C. Zellen, who died on Monday July 2nd at the West Newton Health Care Center in Newton, following a long illness. He was 71 years old.
Paul was born & raised in East Boston. He attended Boston Public Schools. Paul enlisted in the United States Navy in 1964 during the Viet Nam War. He served his country proudly until he was honorably discharge in 1966, earning the National Defense Service Medal. Paul returned home to East Boston and worked for himself. He was known as a “Jack of all Trades”. His skill set was mainly carpentry, but he was proficient in all other trade areas.
He is the beloved father of Stacey A. Zellen of East Boston. The devoted son of the late Robert L. Zellen & Helen (Corey) Zellen. Dear brother of Patricia Kelly, Robert “Mickey” Zellen, Barbara Zellen all of California & the late Dorothy Stevens. He is also lovingly survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.

Steven A. Pires

Pires, who passed unexpectedly on Saturday, June 16th at his Revere residence. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted and interment will be held privately.
Born, raised & educated in Revere, Steven was a life-long resident. He was an alumnus of Revere High School, Class of 1974. Most of his working career was as a construction worker specializing in tile setting and design. He was a member of the Carpenters’ Union, Local #67. A quiet man by nature, he enjoyed the company of his immediate close family as well as the company of his several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews & many cousins.
He was the beloved son of the late Joseph C. Pires, Jr. & the late Dolores S. (DeSouza) Pires, who passed on December 29th, 2017. He is the devoted & adored brother to Debra A. Pires & Joseph C. Pires, III, both of Revere. He is also lovingly survived by several faithful nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles & many faithful cousins.

John F. Marino

Marino, who passed at his Wakefield residence on Wednesday, June 27th, following a lengthy illness. His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, July 2nd at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) REVERE at 10:30 a.m., and immediately followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
Born & raised in East Boston, he was an alumnus of East Boston High School, Class of 1950. He lived in East Boston until he married in 1954, settling in Chelsea until moving to Wakefield in 2002. He would enter the U.S. Navy in July of 1952 & served until July of 1956 as a Seaman. He was most proud of his service to his country & as a young man was unable to serve during World War II and those post years. For over fifty years, he worked for the former Hy-Sil Manufacturing Co. of Revere, ending his career as their supervisor of printing. Dedicated and trustworthy, he, like so many local residents, enjoyed the family-like atmosphere that Hy-Sil provided. Both he and his wife Alida G. (Campatelli) Marino of 64 years, gave of themselves entirely for the life, education and care of their only son, John Augustus Marino, who came to them as a not-well child, afflicted with Cystic Fibrosis. The couple continued, until the passing of their son in December of 2005, to the commitment they had made for John’s safety and care.
Mr. Marino is the grandfather to Nicholas John Marino & his companion, Esther Cho of Wakefield & Julia Feeney of Sudbury. He is also lovingly survived by his daughter in-law, Regina M. (Mazzetti) Marino of Sudbury and several nieces & nephews. He was also the beloved brother of the late Mary V. Marino & James Marino.

Ralph J. Ferragamo

Ferragamo, who passed away, surrounded by his family, on Sunday, June 24th at the Massachusetts General Hospital, following a long illness. He was 82 years old. A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, June 29th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) Revere at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
Ralph was born & raised in Revere and he was educated in Revere Public Schools. He was drafted in the United States Army during the Viet Nam Era. Ralph returned back to Revere after his honorable service to his country. He married Judith A. (Ricupero) and the couple settled in the Beachmont section of Revere, where they raised their family. Ralph worked early on as an Oil Burner Technician and later took a position at the M.B.T.A., as an Electrician. He had a career that spanned over 25 years. Ralph was known as a dedicated family man and loved to spend time with them. He was an avid Boston sports fan of all of the major teams. One of Ralph’s passions was cooking. His family would talk about his legendary meals. He also enjoyed spending time in the garden. He had a “Green Thumb” & he loved growing and pruning his rose bushes and caring for his vegetable gardens. He was a past member of the Beachmont V.F.W. Post #6712.
He is the beloved husband of 47 years to the late Judith A. (Ricupero) Ferragamo, who passed on June 11, 2006. Loving father of Jill M. Furlong & Revere Firefighter Michael J. Ferragamo. Cherished grandfather of James P. Furlong & Zachary M. Furlong, all of Revere. He is the dear brother of Lillian Gonzalez of North Reading, Joanne Ferragamo of Peabody & the late Anthony J. Ferragamo, Phyllis Dent, Joseph A. Ferragamo, Sr. & Christopher J. Ferragamo. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. Late U.S. Army Veteran of the Viet Nam Conflict.

Julie N. (Butler) Marshall

(Butler) Marshall, who passed after a short illness on Saturday, June 23rd at Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital. The visitation will continue until 11 :30 a.m. and then followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) Revere at 12:00 p.m. (Noon). Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Park, Peabody.
Born & raised in Chelsea, she attended Chelsea schools & was a 1950 alumna of Chelsea High School. Her working career was with Monarch Life Insurance Co. as Office Manager for fifteen years. Julie moved from Chelsea in 1965 to Malden until moving to Revere in 1972. Both Julie & her late husband, Revere Detective, Joseph R. Marshall, became members of the Revere Loyal Order of the Moose, Chapter #1272 over 35 years ago. They joined this service organization exactly for what it was founded, i.e. for service to the needy and unfortunate. Their commitment was marked with integrity and devotion. After Joe passed in May of 1994, Julie continued her work with the Moose organization not only on a local level but on a national level as well. She held the following titles & positions with grace and dignity. She was the Past Dean of the International Academy of Friendship Board, Past Deputy Grand Regent for Massachusetts & Rhode Island and Co-Chairperson of the Massachusetts & Rhode Island Youth Awareness Program which was closest to her heart. Julie held-dear, volumes of wonderfully devoted friends. Until her untimely passing, Julie maintained a position as captain on the Senior Ladies Bowling Team and on the Revere Senior Center Bocce League. She loved dancing and laughing with her friends. It is ironic that such a petite lady could be responsible for carrying out so many good works for her charitable passions and endeavors.
Julie cherished family most of all in life. She is the treasured mother of Patricia A. “Patti” Profenna & her husband, William V. of Everett, Christine Hilton of Yarmouth, Maine, Michael A. Ruggelo & his wife, Tami of Amesbury & Judy L. Hommel & her husband, William of Revere. She is the devoted grandmother of Christopher M. Profenna of Saugus, Alyssa A. Smith & her husband, Andreas of Tewksbury, Colleen L. Ruggelo of Brunswick, Maine, Steven M. Ruggelo of Plaistow, New Hampshire, Craig Hilton of Brunswick, Maine, Bradford Hilton & his wife, Valerie of San Diego, California, Powers J. Hommel & Spencer W. Hommel, both of Revere & Kelsey Seward of Amesbury. Also lovingly survived by 5 great grandchildren, Nolan, Rayna, Aiden, Grayson & Avery and one great great granddaughter, Willow. She was also the dear companion of the late William DeMartino. Born & raised in Revere, Viola attended Revere Schools. For over 25 years, she had a working career with Filene’s Basement Store of Saugus. She enjoyed her job & over the years made many friends and associates. Above all Viola was a devoted Wife, Mom, Grandmother & Daughter. Her life was centered around her family.
She is the wife of the late Michael F. Viviano, who passed on December 19, 1997. She is the cherished mother to Stephen D. Viviano & his long-time companion, Kathleen Campbell of Revere, Revere Deputy Fire Chief, Michael G. Viviano & his wife, Carla J. Viviano of Middleton & the late Frank D. Viviano. She is also the devoted grandmother of Maureen R. Viviano & her long-time companion, Murray Constant of Everett, Revere Firefighter Stephen D. Viviano Jr. & Michael J. O’Brien, both of Nahant, Michael P. Viviano of Arlington, V.A. and David A. Viviano of Boston. She is also lovingly survived by her great-granddaughter, Jordyn. She is the dear sister of Matilda Casella of Waltham & the late Assunta “Sue” Penachio & Sylvia Vanetzian. Mrs. Viviano was a long-time member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the Revere V.F.W. Post (Mottollo #4512) & St. Anthony’s Anthonian Club.
