Marilyn B. “Marney” (Clarke) Leyden

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Monday, June 12th from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE, for Marilyn B. “Marney” (Clarke) Leyden, who passed on Friday, June 9th at her Revere residence, following a lengthy period of failing health. Her funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Tuesday, June 13th at 10:30 a.m. followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), REVERE at 11:30 a.m.

A lifelong Revere resident, she was an alumna of Immaculate Conception High School, Revere, Class of 1948. In 1950, she married her childhood sweetheart, Frederick V. Leyden, he died in March of 2001. Marilyn & Frederick would raise seven (7) children. The family were always involved with the Immaculate Conception School & Parish Community. Marilyn was Past President of the Immaculata Guild, an organization that oversaw many fund-raising projects over the years. They were very active in the completion of the building fund for the new convent in 1959 & the new church in 1990. Fred & Marilyn were both involved as founding members of the Revere Society for Cultural & Historic Preservation in the early 1990s, securing the historic edifice that housed the Immaculate Conception Rectory. However, before all else, Marilyn & Fred were “family first” as loving & strong Parents, and Grandparents.

Marilyn “Marney” was the cherished mother to Mary Ellen Dakin & her husband, Retired Superintendent of Schools, Paul S. Dakin of Revere, Peter C. Leyden & his wife, Holly of Wakefield, Nancy M. Porter of Revere, Robert M. Leyden & his wife, Rhonda of Plymouth & the late Joan E. Reardon, John M. & William C. Leyden. She is the dear sister of Dorothy “Dorsey” Benoit & her late husband, John of Peabody, Robert Clarke of Revere & the late Gladys Maguire, Eileen Clarke & Thomas Clarke. She is the adored grandmother to Jennifer L. Leyden of Salem, Michael P. Dakin of Revere, Dr. Christina M. Porter & her husband, Andrew Turchon of Salem, Brian T. Dakin & his wife, Amber of Revere, Jacqueline L. Leyden of Wakefield, Thomas Leyden & his wife, Summer of Weymouth, Maura Cugini of Georgetown, Ma., Beth M. Dakin & her husband, Geoffrey Garen of San Jose, Cailf., Daniel Leyden of Sacramento, Cailf, Lauren Porter of Chelsea, Peter Leyden of Plymouth & Ellen Reardon & her fiancee, Nick Botto of Everett. She is also lovingly survived by her former son-in-law, Atty. Stephen F. Reardon of Revere, her five (5) great-grandchildren, Olivia, Norah, Evelyn, Melody & Lily and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Mary G. (Cataldo) Moughan

(Cataldo) Moughan, who passed on Monday, June 5th at the Winthrop Pace Center of Winthrop, following a lengthy illness. Her funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Friday, June 9th at 9:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., REVERE at 10:00 a.m.

Mrs. Moughan was born & raised in East Boston & lived there until moving to Revere, thirty years ago. She attended schools in East Boston & was a 1941 alumna of East Boston High School. Mrs. Moughan had a 12-year career with John Hancock Life Ins. Co. of Boston, within their Food Service Division(Cafeteria), retiring at age 65 yrs.

She was the beloved wife of the late Daniel C. Moughan, who died August 8, 2003. She is the cherished Mother of Deborah A. Moughan & Mary Jean Moughan, both of Marblehead & Carl D. Moughan of Fort Lauderdale, Florida. She is the dear sister of Victoria DiBlasi & her husband Ret. Revere Firefighter Maurice “Moe” DiBlasi, Sr. of Saugus & Anthony Cataldo & his wife Nina of Revere. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. Mary was also a proud client of the Commission for the Blind. Interment will be in St. Michael Cemetery, Jamaica Plain.

Antonio Albanese

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, June 7th from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107),REVERE, for Antonio Albanese, who died on Sunday, June 4th at his Revere residence, following a three (3) year courageous battle with metastatic cancer. His funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Thursday, June 8th at 9:00 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., REVERE at 10:00 a.m.

Born & raised in Revere, he was an alumnus of Revere High School. He entered the U.S. Navy in January of 1944 & served until November of 1947, commissioned as a Motor Machinist’s Mate, Third Class. He would work as a production worker for Schrafft’s Candy Co. of Charlestown or about 8 years, before applying for work with the U.S. Postal Postal Service. Tony worked for 40 years plus as a mailhandler at the Airport Facility with the Postal Service until he retired in 1992. “Tony” had a welcoming large personality and a work ethic not to be surpassed! He was a long standing member of the V.F.W. Mottolo Post # 4524 and the National Organization of Disabled American Veterans (National Chapter). He was most proud of his associate’s degree from the Coyne Electrical Junior College of Boston.

He leaves his beloved & devoted wife of 66 years Grace L. “Lucy” (Desposito) Albanese & his adoring son Anthony P. Albanese & his wife Elizabeth J. “Liz” of Peabody. He is the cherished grandfather of Mary G. Albanese & her husband David J. Hodge of Danvers, James M. Albanese & his wife Cecilia of Revere & Bonnie-Jean O’Keefe & her husband Jason of Peabody. He is the dear brother of Vincenza “Vinnie” Joy of Revere & the late Raymond Albanese. He is also lovingly survived by his great-grandson Gavin A. Hodge of Revere & his two faithful nieces, Sandra Joy of Maine & Karen Joy of Revere & many other nieces & nephews. Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Ann B. (Connery) Belmonte

(Connery) Belmonte, who died following a lengthy & tedious illness on Wednesday, May 31, 2017. Born & raised in Revere, she was a 1952 alumna of Immaculate Conception High School in Revere and continued onto Hickox Secretarial College in Boston, where she graduated in 1954. She would have 10 year plus career with the Federal Reserve Bank as a Senior Bookkeeper. She left the bank in 1967 & then became a stay-at-home mom & later returned to the work-force in October of 1985. At that time, she began working with the Broadway National Bank an account executive, until October of 1997. She enjoyed her retirement for the sake of her family and her extended family. She was most especially fond of her time with her two grandsons, Andrew & Matthew. Although her illness took her on a very long but not so much happy journey, Ann met the “ups and downs” with determination, courage & tons of fortitude.

She is the beloved wife of the late Anthony Belmonte, who passed in January of 1985. She is the cherished mother of Judith A. Jaroncyk and her husband Christopher of North Reading & Tamara M. Belmonte of Wellesley Hills. She is the adored grandmother to Andrew C. & Matthew R. Jaroncyk, both of North Reading. She is the dear sister to the late Ret. Revere Fire Chief James F. Connery, Marie LaPointe, Jeannette DiPietro, Daniel W., Francis E. “Frank” & William P. Connery. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.

Henry L. Perry, Sr.

Perry, Sr., who died on Saturday, May 27, after a lengthy illness at the Kaplan Family Hospice House of Danvers. His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, June 2nd at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Joseph’s Church, 770 Salem St., MALDEN at 10:00 a.m.

Born & raised in Everett, he lived there until moving to Melrose in 2005. He attended Everett schools & was a 1956 alumnus of Everett Vocational High School. After graduation, he joined the U.S. Army in Oct. of 1956 & served until Oct. 31, of 1963. All of his working career was with the General Electric Corp., services as a master welder. Henry worked in all three plants of G.E. i.e. in Lynn, Medford & Everett. He retired in 2003 at age 65 years. Aside from his loving family of six children & 11 grandchildren & his only brother & many nieces & nephews, his passion for the past 30 years was the Beverly Northshoreman Barbershop Quartet”. He was their baritone & enjoyed the friendships & comradery that the group offered. He also performed with the “Granite State Chorous” of Manchester, N.H.

He is the husband of 57 years to Marie E.(Ragucci) Perry. He is the cherished father of, Rosemarie Romboli & her husband Edward of Malden, Susan M. Connors & her husband Peter of Wilmington, Henry S. Perry & his wife Eileen T. of Wakefield, Anthony S. Perry & his husband Eric Adelman of Stoneham, George W. Perry & his wife Brenda of Saugus & James W. Perry & wife Marion of Melrose. He is the proud grandfather of Dana L. Romboli & his fiancée Samantha of Melrose, Kathleen M. Perry & Colleen M. Perry, both of Wakefield, Sarah N. Perry & Nicholas J. Perry both of Stoneham, Ryan T. & Jillian M. Perry, both of Saugus, Nathan P. & Kristen M. Connors, both of Wilmington, Alex J. & Dianne M. Perry both of Melrose. Marilyn T. (DeLuca) Prizio

Born & raised in Newton, she attended Newton schools and was a 1956 alumna of Newton High School. She resided in Newton, until moving to Revere in 1987. For over 20 years, she worked with the Revere Police as a Meter Maid, retiring in 2003. A devoted & beloved wife, mother, sister & grandmother & aunt, she earned the title “favorite” by all her family, especially her children, grandchildren, nieces & nephews.

She is the adored wife of 30 years, to Retired Revere Patrolman, Angelo A. Prizio. She is the cherished mother of John F. Daley of Newton, James M. Daley of Chelmsford, Lynn T. Benson & her husband Anthony of Winthrop & Denise T. Morelli & her husband Toby of Danvers. She is the proud grandmother to Shannon M. Daley of Chelmsford, Cailyn R. Benson & Michael N. Julia J. DaSilva

DaSilva, who passed following a lengthy battle with Metastatic Breast Cancer, on Thursday, May 25th at Boston’s Brigham & Women’s Hospital. Her Funeral Service will follow the visitation in the Funeral Home on Wednesday at 7:15 p.m.

Born & raised in the Azores of Portugal, she & her family came to this country in 1978, settling in Everett & then in Revere. She was a 1984 graduate of Everett High School. She also lived for a brief time in Somerville. All of her working career was spent in retail merchandising. For 15 (fifteen) years, she was an assistant buyer for Marshall’s Corp., serving in various stores throughout the area. Julia was most proud of her Portuguese heritage & was an advocate for the promotion & maintenance of old world customs, family closeness & a fine work ethic. She was never late, whether work or play, and she drilled into her beloved three children, the gifts of family & extended family. She had a passion for shopping, especially for her children & most especially for the light of her life, her grandson, Luiz. For almost 20 years, Julia was blessed to have finally met her soul mate, her fiancée, John P. Buccelli. They had a unique relationship, inasmuch as they thoroughly enjoyed each other’s presence in all situations. John & Julia thoroughly enjoyed the “high-end” aspect of life. Whether it be choice of restaurants, gourmet food shops, or shopping centers and plazas- they were drawn to the best adventures.

Besides her fiancée and soul mate, John P. Buccelli of Somerville, she leaves her large family. She is the adoring Mother to Osmar Aguiar of Everett, Kasandra Aguiar of Revere & Benjamin David Michael of Nashville, TN. She is the cherished daughter to Maria Valentina DaSilva of Somerville & the late Manuel DaSilva. She is the dear sister of Natalino L. DaSilva of Cailfornia, Valdemar DaSilva of Woburn, Jose M. & Fatima M. DaSilva, both of Somerville, Victor T. & Rosa DaSilva both of Everett, Paula Bienvenu of Pelham, New Hampshire & the late Victor M. & Manuel A. DaSilva. She is also survived by her Grandson Luiz Aguiar of Revere & many other relatives in Portugal. Kehoe, who passed unexpectedly on Tuesday, May 23rd at Everett’s Whidden Memorial Hospital. Her Funeral Service will be conducted following the visitation in the Funeral Home at 4:15 p.m.

Born in Boston, Robin lived in East Boston, Amesbury & Revere, spending a majority of her time in Amesbury. She was a 1985 alumna of Saint Pope John XXIII’s High School. Most of her working career, was spent as a waitress in several local restaurants. She spent about 10 years at the “Hard Rock Cafe”. She also served as a cocktail waitress in several area Lounges and Cafes.

She is the cherished mother of Seana K. Kehoe of Amesbury & the adored daughter to Judith A. (Zagarella) & Vincent H. “Sonny” Thomas of Amesbury. She is also the dear niece to Ralph Zagarella & Richard Saunders, both of Manchester, New Hampshire & the late Vincent Zagarella. Many cousins also survive her. She is lovingly survived by her companion Albert Squillante of Revere & his family, who Robin regarded & respected as her extended family, Anthony J. Squillante of Boston’s North End & his late wife Antoinette (Martorano) “Netta” Squillante-Chiampa & her late husband Roger R. Chiampa, Anthony J. Squillante Jr. & his wife Jodi and Flora Squillante, both of Moore, South Carolina. Interment will be private.

Daniel J. Doherty

Doherty, who passed unexpectedly on Saturday, May 20th at the Lahey Clinic of Burlington. His funeral will be held on Friday May 26th from the funeral home at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Richard of Chichester Church, 90 Forest St., DANVERS at 11:00 a.m.

An alumnus of Revere High School, Class of 1964, he lived in Revere before moving to Danvers several years ago. He entered the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam Era on March 24, 1966 & served until March 23, 1972. Dan joined the ranks of Revere’s finest (the Revere Fire Department) & served for over 35 years. His tenure as Fire Chief from 1995-2001, ended with retirement. He was a member of the Retired Revere Fire Chiefs, the International Association of Fire Chiefs, the Metro Fire Chiefs “Embers” & the Revere Firefighters Local 926. A recent conversation with Dan, revealed how very much pleased he was for his service to his country during Vietnam but also for the 35 years plus, with the Revere Fire Department. He was the recipient of an Associates Degree in Fire Science & an Associates Degree in Electrical Engineering from North Shore Community College. On off-time, he was an avid golfer, strictly enforcing the rules & regulations of the game.

He is the beloved husband of 50 years to Marjorie A. “Marge” (Rollins) Doherty & the cherished father of Cheryl A. Lenkauskas & her husband Michael of Danvers & the late Jason D. Doherty. He is the devoted son to Marie B. (Oliver) Doherty of Saugus & the late Ret. Revere Firefighter John J. “Chickie” Doherty. He is the adoring grandfather to Daniel J. Arnold of New Haven, CT & Sarah E. Arnold of Danvers. He is also the dear brother of John J. “Jackie” Doherty, Jr. & his wife Diane of Tarpan, FL, Donna M. Marrotta & her husband Alfred of Saugus & Doreen P. Carolan of Revere. He is also lovingly survived by his cousin Ret. Revere Fire Chief Eugene W. “Gene” Doherty & his wife Michelle M. of Point of Pines, Revere and many other cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews and his extended family of Revere firefighters.

June M. (McLeod) Kinnally

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, May 22nd in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), REVERE, beginning at 10:00 a.m., for June M. (McLeod) Kinnally, who died on Wednesday, May 17th, unexpectedly, following a brief illness at Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital. Her funeral service will follow the visitation at 12:00 p.m. in the funeral home followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. June died days shy of her 70th birthday.

Born in Chelsea, she lived in Revere her entire life & was a 1965 alumna of Revere High School. She worked for Raytheon Corp. as an assembly manager for over 15 years. She was the wife of the late,  John W. Kinnally, former Exalted Ruler of the Revere Lodge of Elks, #1171, who died on Thanksgiving Day, November 25, 2004. Through his influence, June became most active in the Revere Lodge & made friends & extended family by the hundreds. June was gifted with a welcoming personality & ability to allow all who came in contact with her, “feel special”. Her loss will be felt most sincerely and honestly for a very long time.

She is the cherished mother of William G. McLeod of Revere. She is the devoted sister to George S. McLeod & his wife Kathleen & Inez Ralphs, all of Revere, Lillian Markuson & her husband, William of Gloucester & the late William G. McLeod & Albert G. McLeod, Jr. She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews & her extended family at the Revere Lodge of Elks.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.

Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.

Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.
