Although Joseph was born in Delaware, he came to live in Revere as a young boy & was a 1977 alumnus of Revere High School. He had a fourteen-year career with Federal Express as a truck driver. He continued on with his career until health issues took hold & he was forced into early disability.
He is the son of the late Joseph Green, Sr. & Gladys T. (Vetree) Green. Adored & beloved husband to Lynda A. (McKinnon) Green. He is the cherished father of Joseph Green & his wife, Amanda of Revere, John R. McKinnon, Lynda L. McKinnon, all of Revere, John J. McKinnon & his wife, Amanda of Menifee, CA., & Jacqueline Cavallo & her husband, David of Londonderry, N.H. He is the dear brother of Dorothy I. Allen & her husband, Edward of Lawrence, John J. Green & his wife, Lizbeth of Revere & David B. Green & his wife, Kristin of Somerset, New Jersey. Joe is also lovingly survived by his eight grandchildren; Emily, Bianca, Arianna, Travis, Vincent, Angelo, Abigail & the late, Agostino. Interment is private.

Family & friends are invited to attend a Graveside Service on Thursday, April 13th at 1:00 p.m. at Woodlawn Cemetery, 302 Elm St. Everett, for Carol E. Brothers, who died on Sunday, March 12th at the Delaware Hospice Center in Milford, Delaware. She was 80 years old.
Carol was born, raised & educated in Revere and is an alumna of Revere High School, Class of 1954. After graduation, Carol worked for a short period at New England Tel & Tel, in Revere & later at Boston’s famous Jordan Marsh Company. Eventually, Carol found her calling and became a Home Health Aide with the Nursing Association of Greater Lynn, in Lynn. She helped many ailing and elderly people in need. She found her calling to be both rewarding and fulfilling. Carol was a Home Health Aide for many years. After retiring, she found a new calling. She owned and operated “Bark & Purr” Pet Grooming located in Revere. Her love for animals gave her such joy working with pets. She sold her business before retiring to Delaware in 2000. Carol moved to be closer with her sister and other family members. As she made her new home, she made new acquaintances & found new hobbies. Carol loved playing Bingo and playing the slots at area casinos, she loved crocheting and was an avid reader.
She was the devoted daughter of the late Ralph V. & Josephine (Urbanilk) Brothers. The loving sister of the late Earl Brothers, Dorothy A. Spence & Viola Johnson. She is the cherished aunt of Dennis R. Spence & his wife Mary, David Brothers, Virginia McNally, Michelle Austin, Deidre Brothers & Diane Duchland. She is also the dear grand aunt of Debra Collins. Also lovingly survived by her sister in law Elva Brothers.

Born and raised in East Boston, he was a mechanic/auto body technician and retired from Rick’s Auto Collision of Revere. Richie appeared early on in his career as a very successful guitarist and vocalist. His venues were lounges, supper clubs & private events. He used the professional name of “Richie Vance”. Charles J. “Chuck” Scalata
Family and Friends are invited to attend a memorial visitation on Saturday, April 8th beginning at 10:00 a.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), REVERE, for Charles “Chuck” J. Scalata, of Chelsea, formerly of Quincy, who passed away peacefully in his sleep on February 8th, 2017 at the age of 87. A Funeral Mass will follow in Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) at 11:30 a.m. Interment will be private.
Charles worked for over 40 years as a Lithographer at Court Square Press in Boston. After his retirement, Charles also worked for the school department in Lynn driving disabled children. Charles lived in Quincy for most of his life where he raised his large family. While in Quincy, he was very active in organizations and activities his children were involved in. The Boy Scouts, The Renegade Drum and Bugle Corp as well as St. John the Baptist Church. Later in his life, Charles moved back to the North Shore living in Revere before happily settling into the Leonard Cohen Florence Estates on Admirals Hill in Chelsea. Charles was a member of The Loyal Order of Moose in Revere and spent many fond hours at the Rossetti-Cowan Senior Center. Chuck enjoyed boating, traveling and playing his guitar. He often traveled to listen to his favorite bands.
Charles is proceeded in death by his former wife Ruth (Nickerson) Scalata. He was the loving father of and survived by Joseph Scalata and wife Claudia of Whitman, Christine Jenkins Devine and husband Michael of Quincy, Mark Scalata and Nancy Annecchiarico of East Bridgewater, Paul Scalata of Fairhaven, Peter Scalata and William Achorn of Forestdale, Brian Scalata and wife Tracey of Carver and Sandy Scalata Jett and Mark Rodighiero of Lakewood, Colorado. Grandchildren Adam, Nathan, Andrea, Shannon, Joel, Charles, David, Danielle, Connor, Kinley, Ryan, Jamie and several great-grandchildren. Charles is also survived by his loving sister Irma (Scalata) Accettullo of Revere and her two children Rob Accettullo of Canton and Lisa Accettullo of East Boston.

Rose G. (Dutra) MacDonald

Born & raised in East Boston, she was educated at East Boston Schools and was a 1946 alumna of East Boston High School. The couple (she and her husband) moved to Revere over 60 years ago. From early on in her working career, she worked in Boston’s Bookbinding district, close to South Boston. She would maintain her position in that industry until the late seventies. And along with maintaining a full-time job, a family of four children, a husband and extended family, she was a Cub-Scout Mother in Revere, for over 20 years. She was one of the most popular Den Mothers, because of her dedication to her troop and the constant, varied activities she would provide for them. Mrs. MacDonald was a master at crafts, developing exciting new methods of activity for her troop. And if that was not enough for a “full schedule”, she was a devotee of the Immaculate Conception Parish Community. As a member of the Boston Den Mother’s Association, she was set to train other women to become a spectacular Den-Mother as she.
She was the wife of the late Jerome A. MacDonald, who died on February 5, 2010. She is the cherished mother of Daniel J. MacDonald & his wife, Marjorie of Malden, James E. MacDonald & his wife, Stacey of Saugus, Retired Chief Petty Officer, U.S.N. Kenneth P. MacDonald and his wife Lori of Oxnad, Cailf. & Geri-Lynne Bechat & her husband, Hanson of Tewksbury. She is the devoted grandmother to Samantha, Aaron, Jonathan, Joseph, Tori, Allyson & Sydney. She is the dear sister of Dennis Dutra & his wife, Sandra of Revere, Robert Dutra & his wife, Johanna of Medford & the late, Dorothy Pope, William Dutra, Eleanor Russo, John Dutra and Adelaide Boyle. Edward J. Haas
Family & friends are invited to a visitation on Saturday, April 1st, in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107), REVERE beginning at 9:00 a.m., for Edward J. Haas, who died on Monday, March 13th, at his Revere residence, unexpectedly. A funeral mass will follow at 11:00 a.m. in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), REVERE followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Although Ed has been fighting cancer & chronic obstructive pulmonary disease, his death was indeed, sudden.
He spent most of his life in Revere and was a 1965 alumnus of Revere High School. He mastered 2 tours of duty with the U.S. Army during the Viet-Nam Era from April 11, 1966 through May 2, 1970. He returned to school at Northeastern University & secured a career as a computer engineer. For a brief time, he lived in New Orleans & secured a position as an oil Rigger in the Gulf of Mexico. He also spent time as a property manager in New Orleans. While working in the sales end of the computer industry, he was most proud of his association with Bill Gates and Steve Jobs.
He was the beloved son of the late Robert J. Haas, Sr.and Regina E. (Lewey) Haas. He is the devoted brother to Former Revere Mayor, Robert J. Haas Jr. & his wife, Juanita of Revere, Sheila A. Arsenault & her husband, Arthur T. of Chelsea & Judy A. Cotter & her husband, William of Gilford, N.H. He is the proud uncle of Jennifer Haas & her fiancee John Coyne of Revere, Rachel Shanley of Revere, Robert J. Haas, III & his wife, Jennifer of Winthrop, Christopher R. Forestra & his wife, Gina of Ft. Worth, Texas, Robyn Forestra & her husband, Matthew Pollock of Brooklyn, NY, Joshua Cotter & his wife, Katelyn of Swampscott, Meghan Mazzolla & her husband Tory of Exeter, N.H. Attorney Charles R. Balliro
Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Friday, March 31st from 4 to 7 p.m. in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere for Attorney Charles R. Balliro, who died tragically in his Winthrop home on Saturday March 18th. He was 68 years old. A funeral service will begin at 7 p.m. in the Funeral Home following the visitation.
Born in Boston, Charlie was raised in the North End before the family settled in Revere. Charlie was educated in Revere and is an alumnus of Revere High School Class of 1966. Charlie went on to earn his undergraduate degree at Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, Louisiana. During his time there, Charlie was most active, taking advantage of all that the school offered to him. He played Football for the NSU Demons, he was in Student Government, he was a member of Tau Kappa Epsilon fraternity, and he thrived in the School Drama Club. In his junior year, he earned the lead role in a Woody Allen production of “Don’t Drink the Water.” He also was the lead as King Lear in “The Lion in Winter” and he received Best Actor Award for his performance. He also won awards for Southwest Conference Poetry Competition, earning first place. Charlie excelled at NSU, and his achievements validate his active leadership. In his senior year, he was elected President of the Student Body, and he was sworn into the Chief Justice office by the Dean of NSU – Fulton. He graduated from NSU in 1971. Charlie’s true calling may have been “Acting.” He loved the theatre and the audience loved him. He had a natural talent for the stage. Charlie returned back to Boston to further his education to pursue a Law Degree. He earned his J.D. of Law from Suffolk University Law School in 1976. He later moved to Winthrop and opened his own law firm, Offices of Charles R. Balliro. Charlie practiced law and loved what he did, but his true passion was theatre. He continued to act in Dinner Shows, Summer Stalk on Cape Cod and returned to Louisiana at the Abbey Players. He wrote a poem titled “To My Brother Paul.” He wrote several plays, “He’s not heavy, he’s my brother.” Charlie had a real zest for life, intellect, talent, and an aura that made people want to be around him. With all his accomplishments and leading roles, his most favorite role was “Dad.” He loved his family and made them proud of all his achievements.
He is the beloved son of Antonetta (Agresti) Balliro of Revere, and the late Joseph P. Balliro. The Loving father of Joseph P. Balliro of Winthrop. Cherished brother of Lucille DiChiara of Revere, Fawn Andersen & her husband Bjorn of Charlestown, Deveen Balliro – Arrigo & his Honor Revere Mayor Brian M. Arrigo of Revere and the late Paul “Paulie Boy” Balliro. He is the dear friend of Linda M. “Shana” Plakias of Revere, the former husband of Peggy Balliro – Bayard of New Iberia, LA. Also lovingly survived by many nieces and nephews, and many, many friends and extended family. Interment will be private.

George W. Canvin, Jr.
Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Funeral Mass for George W. Canvin, Jr. at the Immaculate Conception Church, (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) REVERE on Thursday, March 30th at 11:00 a.m. Family & friends are asked to report directly to the Church. His funeral mass will be followed with interment of both his cremains and those of his wife, Janice in the Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne, Ma. Mr. Canvin died on Tuesday, March 21st at the Merrimack Valley Hospice House of Haverhill following a brief illness. Visiting hours are respectfully omitted.
Born in Boston, he was the son of the late George W. Canvin, Sr. & Dorothea (Fisher) Canvin-O’Callaghan. He was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1951 & entered the U.S. Navy, during the Korean Conflict on August 1, 1951 & served as a Seaman until May 12,1955. He had a long career with Great Northern Manufacturing Co. of Revere & Chelsea for over forty years before retiring in 1993. He served the company as Plant Manager, a position he earned by his unusual and often talked about work ethic. There was no other employee, more honest or dedicated, as was George; glowing remarks often heard from the entire Gesamondo family, who owned & founded the company. In 1995, he would move to Haverhill, with his wife, Janice & their children. Janice C. (Belliveau) Canvin died on February 27, 2001. She & George courted from their early teen years and would spend over 40 years together until her death.
He is the cherished father of Cheryl P. Cormier of Peabody & Robert G. Canvin of Haverhill & his wife, Elissa Turner of Manchester, NH. He is the devoted Grandfather of Kevin B. & Elizabeth A. Canvin, both of Haverhill & Kenneth E. Cormier of Peabody. Also lovingly survived by several cousins in the Revere area.

Geraldine or “Mama Gerry” as most knew her worked for many years as a nursing assistant, retiring at age 85, and in later years as an activities assistant at The Lighthouse Nursing Center. She was the life of the party and very loved by all who knew her. She was an amazing cook and shared wonderful Italian recipes with everyone. Her sense of humor was contagious and everyone knew who ruled the roost. This past year was a difficult time with many health issues. She could no longer travel to the casino or play Bingo with friends but she kept busy making puzzles and doing crosswords. She was able to live at home these past months with much help from the Chelsea Jewish Hospice Team. A special thank-you to Judy Duncan her favorite nurse who she enjoyed having coffee with in the morning. To Joyce, Kelly, Barbara and all the caretakers who visited daily. we thank you from the bottom of our hearts. You all helped make these last months comfortable and happy for her.
She is the wife of the late Cosmo Fantasia who died April 9th 2016, with whom she shared 67 years of marriage. Devoted mother of Anthony F. and his wife Ann of Tampa Florida, Geri R. McDaniel of Sacramento, CA. Loving Sister to Daniel Tempesta of Stoneham and the late Ann Pasquale, Antonio Tempesta, Marilyn Ordway, and Lawrence Tempesta. She was the sister-in-law and best friend of Mary Ficaro of Revere, Salvatore Fantasia of Falmouth and the Late Augustine Fantasia. Rudolph T. “Rudy” Drinkwater

Born in Chelsea, he was a 1940 alumnus of Revere High School at age 16. He began college at Tufts University, and then in June of 1943, joined the U.S. Navy, during WWII serving until February of 1946 as a Signalman 2nd Class. He returned to Tufts & was awarded a B.S. in Electrical Engineering. He worked for G.E. of Lynn for over ten (10) years. Later he continued his education at Northeastern University, received his MBA and began a 20 year plus association with the Boston Naval Shipyard. During the Cuban Missile Crisis, he was appointed “Combat missile supervisor”. This position was probably the highlight of his working career. He worked until the early 1970s and then retired, allowing him to reclaim his passion and joy–“Play Golf”. Rudy played all over New England, but frequented & thoroughly enjoyed his time with the Ponkapoag Golf Club of Canton. A deeply private man, he was a sincerely religious man, often resulting in quiet giving & generosity to many charities and organizations.
He was the beloved son to the late Atty. Alexander Drinkwater & Mary (DiVenuti) Drinkwater. He was the most cherished brother to the late Evelyn G. Prizio, Gloria Goglia, Marion Burns, Mildred Thompson and Arthur Drinkwater. He is lovingly survived by many dedicated & faithful nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews & a team of devoted and dear caregivers, without whom, it would have been impossible to fulfill his last & dying wish, to die in his own home, sheltered in his own bed. The wish was fulfilled and for that, God Love & Bless each and everyone of you for your professionalism, friendship and extraordinary care. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
