John J. Giuffre

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, September 24th, 2013 in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, from 4 – 8 p.m., for John J. Giuffre, who died on Saturday, September 21st at the Lighthouse Nursing Care Center of Revere, at 94 years.  His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, September 25th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere, at 10:30 a.m.  Born in Boston’s North End, he moved to Revere (Beachmont) over 60 years ago.  For over 50 years, he owned & operated the Do-Drop-In Restaurant of Boston.  John was also a truck driver & member of Local #25.  He is the husband of the late Helen (Cullen), & the devoted & cherished father of John N. Giuffre, Peter Giuffre & his wife Jeanne, & Cynthia LaBointe, all of Revere.  He is the dear brother of Raymond Giuffre of Revere, & the late Leah Clifford.  He is also the loving grandfather of Nicholas R. & Peter J. Giuffre, Renee & Juliette LaBointe, all of Revere.  Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.

Hanscom, who died on Wednesday, September 18th at the Whidden Memorial Hospital, at 35 years.  A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday, September 26th at 10 a.m., followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Born & raised in Revere, he attended Revere schools & the Vocational High School.  Joseph had been in the construction field as a welder for most of his working career.  He is the beloved son of: Roger D. Hanscom & Debra J. (Iovine) of Revere.  He is the devoted brother of Jennifer A. Duggan & her husband Patrick, & Roger D. Hanscom & his wife Kristen, all of Revere.  He is the loving grandson to: Edith L. (Kingsbury) Iovine & her late husband Louis R. Iovine, of Revere & Hollywood, FL.  He is the dear uncle of Tyler J. & Jaxson P. Duggan, Ryan J., Khloe K., & Kasey K. Family & friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, September 21st, beginning at 11 a.m., in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere for Deborah J. (Callis) Davis, who died unexpectedly on Sunday, September 15th, after being rushed to the Whidden Memorial Hospital.  Her funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home , following the visitation at 1:15 p.m.  Born and raised in Boston’s South End, she came to live in Revere over 28 years ago.  Deborah worked as a salesperson most of her working career in retail trade.  She was a most devoted mother, grandmother & niece.  Deborah suffered the tragic loss of her dear son, Jerome D. “Pooch” Davis on September 15, 2009.  Since his untimely death, Deborah has been in failing health.  Although, uncanny, this coincidence will serve as a consolation & blessing to he remaining beloved family.  She is the devoted mother of, Taheen R. Davis & Lakeisha S. Davis both of Revere.  She is the cherished grandmother of, Krisean McCann of Indiana,  Tahliyah Davis & Malaysia both of Boston & Ja’Shayla Davis of Revere.  She is the loving niece of Evella “Eve” Lopes of Boston & the beloved sister of Michael K. Callis of Revere.  She was the daughter of the late, Cleveland & Ella (Bogan) Callis.  Interment will be Private.  In lieu of flowers, Rememberances may be made directly to the Family.

Theodore “Teddy” Parker

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, September 17th, 2013 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Theodore “Teddy” Parker, who died on Saturday, September 14th at Beverly Hospital, Beverly, following a long illness, at 88 years.  His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, September 18th at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 660 Washington Ave., Revere at 11 a.m.  Born & raised in East Boston, he lived on the South Shore for several years before moving to Somerville.  When he returned home from the service,he moved & married to Revere.  He entered the United States Air Force in June of 1943 & served until September of 1945.  Teddy served with 8th Army Air Corps in Europe.  He is the recipient of the Purple Heart Air Medal, Good Conduct Medal, & the European-African Middle Eastern Theater Medal with 3 Bronze Stars.  His civilian working career was with the City of Revere, as a Deputy Sealer of Weights & Measures.  He spent over 35 years of service with the City of Revere.  He was also the Past President & member of the Revere Loyal Order of the Moose, #1272.  Teddy was the husband of the late Phyllis “Fanny” (Pesce) Parker, who passed in May of 2006.  He is the Fond father of Cheryll A. Cutroneo & her husband Frank of Peabody, Patricia A. DeMaino of Danvers, Jean A. DeSisto & her husband James of Revere.  He is the Cherished grandfather of Erika Dowling & her husband Mark of Groveland, Amy Cunningham & her husband Paul of Wakefield, Nicolas DeMaino & wife Kristine of Foxboro, L J DeMaino & his wife Michele of Danvers, Jenna, Jessica, & Joclyn DiSisto all of Revere.  Also lovingly survived by 10 great-grandchildren & several nieces & nephews.  He was the dear brother of the late: Dorothy, Ruth, Virginia, William, Walter, & Robert Parker Hubschwerlin.  (Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the: Fund for Autistic Children, 22 Meeting House Hill Rd., West Newbury, MA 01985).

September 21st, 2013 in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere at 11:30 a.m.  Mrs. Forgeron died on Tuesday, September 10th at her Chelsea residence following a brief illness, at 85 years.  Born & raised in Revere, she was a 1945 alumna of Revere High School.  Jeanne lived all her life in Revere before moving to Chelsea in 2002.  She was a devout parishoner at Immaculate Conception Parish for all of her life.  In 1958, she began a career with the Boston Registry of Motor Vehicles, as a secretary & social liaison.  She retired from the Registry in 2000 after over 42 years of service.  Jeanne forged many political & social relationships during her time at the Registry & maintained those friendships until her death.  She is the Devoted Mother of, Joan Forgeron, with whom she made her home in Chelsea, & the late, William J. Forgeron & Jeanne M. Meade.  She was the dear sister of Edith Rowland of San Francisco, California, & the late, Catherine Nagle, Bernice O’Hanley, Irene Cowhig, Dorothea Scanlon, John & Leo MacDonald.  She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, & grand-nephews.  She was the daughter of the late, M. Angus MacDonald & Irene (McPike) MacDonald.  Private interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery Columbarium, Everett, at a later time.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the: Hospice of the North Shore & Greater Boston, 75 Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.

Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Martin J. Grasso, Sr., who passed on Tuesday, September 10th at the Continuing Care Facility at Brooksby Village, following a long illness, at 86 years.  His funeral mass will be celebrated on Friday, September 13th at 10:30 a.m. in the Chapel at Brooksby Village, Peabody, followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Mourners are asked to proceed directly to the Chapel at Brooksby at 10:30 a.m.  Born and raised in East Boston, he attended East Boston schools.  He entered the United States Army in January of 1945 and served until December of 1946.  He served within the 44th Government as a Staff Sergeant.  In 1956, he began his career with the United States Postal Service as a mail handler at South Postal Annex in Boston, serving there all his career until retiring in 1986.  In 2004, he moved to the Brooksby Village Community.  “Marty” became a vital and energetic member at Brooksby.  He was responsible for the implementation of year-round Bocce courts for the residents, which he and Mr. Tony Grande, another resident, worked so tirelessly to create.  Marty was also a member of the Brooksby Chapel Choir, and sung weekly with the group at Sunday masses.  Marty was always known for his warmth, whether it be family, friends, or work colleagues.  He will long be remembered and missed, especially by his dear family and his extended family at Brooksby and South Postal Annex.  His late wife, Mary A. (Mascia), passed on April 25th, 2004.  He is the cherished father of Maria P. Grasso of Marblehead, Martin J. Grasso, Jr. and his wife Lucy of Swampscott, and Marcia G. Greeley and her husband Thomas of Burlington.  He is also the devoted grandfather of Cassie Grasso Ryan and her husband Kieran of Toronto, Canada, Julia E. Grasso of Boston, and Joseph T. Greeley of Burlington.  He was the brother of the late: Mary Cianciulli, Millie Blase, Barbara Panzini, John, Frank, and Joseph Grasso.  He is also lovingly survived by many nieces & nephews.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, Division of Development and The Jimmy Fund, P.O. (Palladino) Dudley, who died on Monday, September 9th at Boston Medical Center, Boston after a brief illness.  Her funeral service will follow the visiting hours at 7:15 p.m. in the Funeral Home.  Born & raised in Revere, Mrs. Dudley was a life long Revere resident & a 1943 alumna of Revere High School.  She was a homemaker all her life.  She was a member of the East Boston Pace Health Program.  She was the wife of the late, Arthur D. Dudley who died November of 1985.  She is the devoted mother of Paul Dudley & his wife Deborah of Seabrook, NH, Robin A. Sullivan & her husband Joseph of New Ipswich, NH & the late Diane M. Scott.  She is the dear sister of Arthur Palladino of Arlington, Marie DiGiacomo of Wakefield & Nella Serino of Salem, MA.  She is also lovingly  survived by five grandchildren &  11 great grand children & several nieces & nephews.  Interment will be held privately at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden at a later time.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Boston Medical Center, 850 Harrison Ave., Boston, MA 02118, ATTN: Development Office.

Stanchi, Jr. , who died on Friday, September 6th at the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home Chelsea, following a long illness.  Born & raised in Boston’s North End, he attended Boston Schools & lived with his family in Boston’s North End, until moving to Revere in 1955.  He served with the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict for about 4 years.  He was a machine operator & fence installer for several area construction companies.  He was a long time member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish & also was a long time member of the Joseph Mottollo Post #4524 of Revere.  He was the beloved son of the late, Robert R. , Sr. & Mary (Sicurello) Stanchi.  He is the dear brother of the late Richard R. & Carmen A. Stanchi.  He is the loving brother-in-law of Rachel E. Stanchi of Wilmington & the late Erna M. Stanchi.  He is the cherished uncle to Michelle M. Stanchi of Wilmington, Michael R. (Hewitt) Duval who died on Thursday, September 5th at Massachusetts General Hospital, following a long illness.  Born & raised in Cambridge, Mrs. Duval came to live in Revere over 60 years ago.  For over 20 years, she worked as a salesperson for the former Jordan Marsh Co. of Boston (Macy’s) , retiring in 1985.  She is the mother of her devoted daughter, Donna D. Messenger of Revere.  She was the sister of the late, Eileen Stone & Harvey Hewitt & the companion of the late Richard Burgess.  She was also the widow of the late Raymond F. Duval, Jr.  She was also the daughter of the late, Robert & Maryanne (Bailey) Hewitt.  The Reverend Edgar A. Gutierrez-Durate, Pastor of St. Luke’s Episcopal Church, Chelsea will be the celebrant of the Graveside Service on Friday , September 13th at 1p.m., where Mrs. Duval had been a long time parishioner.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Alzheimer’s Assoc.,  480 Pleasant St., Watertown, MA 02472.

Angelo A. “Sonny” Todisco

"Sonny" Todsico Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere from 4 to 8 p.m., for Angelo A. “Sonny” Todisco, who died following a lengthy illness at Beth Israel – Deaconess Hospital , Boston on Wednesday, September 4th.  A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, September 9th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) , Revere at 10:30 a.m.. “Sonny” was born in Boston’s North End & came to live in Revere at the age of One year old.  He attended Revere schools & was a 1948 alumnus of Revere High School.  He entered the Military in 1951 & completing his term with the Army Reserve in January of 1957.  He returned to school & secured his Insurance Adjusters License .  For many years he worked at Wonderland Dog Track & also in the construction field.  In 1978, he joined forces with Mr. William J. DePiano, Jr. & formed DePiano & Todisco Adjusters, INC.  and was the Principal of the corporation,  specializing in all types of insurance claims and losses.  Theirs’ was a thirty plus year partnership & unique friendship.  Their friendship has brought not only themselves but their families into an extended family scenerio.  “Sonny” did maintain an energetic & interesting schedule, with the many political, fraternal & community organizations, he supported.  He was a member of the American Legion Post #61, the Revere Soccorso Club, the Revere Loyal Order of the Moose, the Revere Knights of Columbus-Council #179,  & Local #2168 of the Carpenters Union.  He was also past President & Member of the Revere Kiwanis Club & Revere Chamber of Commerce.  Two of his fondest associations, was with the Revere Planning Board & his seat with the Board of Directors at the Revere federal Savings & Loan association.  His participation was always consistent, humble & industrious.  He loved to be busy & useful and in spite of his long battle with failing health he maintained that enthusiasm to the end.  For the past eight years, since declining health, his beloved & faithful wife of 62 years, June J. (Catalucci) Todisco, has been his constant companion.  Their 62nd wedding anniversary is the day of his funeral (September 9th).  However you deem to acknowledge this wonderful coincidence or gentle phenomena, it brings comfort.  Sonny is the proud & devoted father to, Donna M. DiGiovanni & her husband  Anthony of Peabody and Revere Fire Captain Thomas S. Todisco & his wife Joanne E. of Revere.  He is also the cherished grandfather of Steven M. Todisco & His wife Sarah of Georgetown,  Bryan T, Todisco of Revere,  Danielle J. Kempe and her husband David of Quincy and David A, DiGiovanni of Peabody & Lowell.  He is also the very dear brother to Phyllis M. Todisco & her partner, John F. Murphy of Revere.  Sonny was also the brother in law of the late Roberta L. “Bobbie” Catalucci.  Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.  In Lieu of flowers rememberances may be made to: The American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-9367

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
