Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Tuesday, August 28th, 2012 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Theresa Lou (Skelton) Stack, who died at her Revere home on Friday, August 24th following a brief illness, at 66 years.  The funeral will be directed from the funeral home on Wednesday, August 29th, at 9:30 a.m., followed by the funeral mass in Immaculate Conception Church, (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere at 10:30 a.m.  Mrs. Stack was born in Boston, lived until 4 years of age in Boston’s North End, & moved to Jamaica Plain in 1949, where she remained until 1972 when the family moved to Revere.  For over 18 years, she worked as a Home Health Aide with Malden Home Services.  She is the beloved wife of 47 years to: John F. Stack.  She is the cherished daughter of: Olga M. (Turino) Skelton of Revere & the late Edwin M. Skelton.  She is the devoted Mother of, Bryan E. Stack of  Birmingham, Alabama, & Kimberly Beaupre & her husband, Bryan of Derry, NH.  She is the Dear Twin Sister to: Malesa Lou Fagone & her husband, Richard of Revere.  She is also lovingly survived by her grandchildren, Sarah E. & Victoria G. Stack of Birmingham, AL, & Brennah, Kyle & Brayden Beaupre all of Derry, NH.  Entombment will be in Holy Cross Community Mausoleum of Malden.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-9376.

Alexander F. Capossela, Sr.

Alexander F. Capossela, Sr.

Visiting hours are scheduled for Alexander F. Capossela, Sr. a.k.a. “Bobby Santo”, for Wednesday, August 22nd from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere.  Mr. Capossela died unexpectedly on Saturday evening, August 18th, after being stricken at his Revere Home.  A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, August 23rd at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere at 10 a.m.  Born and raised in Boston’s North End, he attended schools in the Boston area.  For over 55 years, he was associated with Suffolk Downs Racing Track & Wonderland Dog Track, in their Mutuel’s Department, serving as a Mutuel’s Clerk.  In the 1960’s and 1970’s he had relocated to Florida & worked several of the Florida tracks.  Early in his career, he & two other friends formed a Dance Trio, the Trio was professionally known as the “Mambo Dueces” performing on the Boston pop scene, supper clubs, nite clubs, and privately for social clubs and events.  The Trio specialized & featured Ballroom dancing & Latin American dancing.  The trio won many awards in competitions & demonstrations throughout the state. They danced from the 1940’s through the 1960’s. Perhaps, he would appreciate being remembered as a life-long New York Yankees Officianado and Supporter.  He is the devoted husband of 32 years to Patricia A. (Ross) Capossela.  He is the cherished father of,  Alexander F. “Alex” Capossela, Jr., Lauren M. Capossela & Robert E. Capossela all of Revere.  He is the dear brother of, Marie Capossela & Eleana Sutera both of Boston’s North End and the late, Louise DiCenso, who died July 7th, 2012, Margaret Lanni,  Lena Perroso & Carmine Capossela.  He is the beloved brother-in-law to, Robert W. Ross of St. Petersburg, FL, Mary Lou Ross & her companion Thomas Prizio and Cynthia M. Ross all of Revere and the late Edward J. Ross, Jr. Also lovingly survived by many caring nieces and nephews & grand nieces and grand nephews.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  In Lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 60 Walnut St., Wellesley, MA 02481

(Wilson) Kearns, who died on Monday, August 13th at the Shaughnessy Rehab. of Cambridge, following a long illness, at 79 years.  Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, August 18th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere at 10 a.m.  Mrs. Kearns was born in Boston, lived her early life in Lowell & came to Revere 50 years ago.  She was a “stay at home Mom,” raising her 3 children.  She is the Cherished mother of: James E. “Eddie” Kearns & his fiance Barbara Mahoney of Stoneham, MA & Salem, NH, Catherine E. Fiore & her husband Alessio of Wilmington, & Frederick W. Kearns, Jr. & his wife Annette of Portsmouth, RI.  She is the beloved partner of the late, Richard Avellino & the dear mother-in-law of the late, Stella Kearns.  She is also the devoted Grandmother of Kellyann Fiore & her husband Eddie Thomas of Stoneham, Kristina A. McLaughlin & husband Ryan of Hudson, NH, Christopher M. & Matthew Kearns, both of Portsmouth, RI.  She is also lovingly survived by her 2 great-granddaughters, Kallie Kearns & Gracie McLaughlin.  Interment will be held privately at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.  Carol was a member of the Revere Seniors at the Rossetti-Cowan Senior Center.  Her family is most grateful for the extraordinary attention, the members & administrators, have shown Carol over the years.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Rossetti-Cowan Senior Center, 25 Winthrop Ave., Revere, MA 02151.

Mark J. Amsden

Services were held at the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, of Revere, for Mark J. Amsden of Nashua, NH, who died unexpectedly at his New Hampshire home on Sunday, August 12th, 2012, at 43 years.  Mark was born in Chelsea, & raised & educated in Revere, & was a 1987 alumnus of Revere High School.  Mark, as a young boy was an altar server at St. Anthony’s Church, Revere, & also was a member of the former St. Anthony’s Youth Band.  He had lived in New Hampshire for the past three years.  He is the beloved son of Craig D. Amsden of Saugus & Joanne (Crisostano) Amsden of Winthrop.  He is the devoted brother of Stacey A. Amsden of Winthrop & Stephen S. Amsden & his wife, Penny of Revere.  He is also lovingly survived by his step-mother, Joan M. Amsden of Saugus, 3 nephews, Jonathan R., Steven C. & Devin L. & 1 niece, Samantha-Jo Amsden, & several aunts, uncles & cousins.  Interment was in Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery, West Peabody.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to your favorite charity.

Helen M. (Murray) Lundquist

(Murray) Lundquist, who died on Thursday, August 9th at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, following a brief illness, at 74 years..  Born & raised in Revere, she was a 1955 alumna of Revere High School.  For many years, she worked in the production department at Hysil Manufacturing of Revere.  A funeral service will follow the visiting hours in the funeral home at 3:15 p.m.  She is the devoted mother of: Mary M. Cechura of Revere, Regina M. Gonya & her husband Martin of Lynn, Deborah M. Kendall of Batesville, Mississippi, Dale T. Lundquist of Revere, & Tonia M. Young & her husband Randy of Poland, Maine.  She is the cherished grandmother of Jamie, Christina, Katielyn, Dallas, Dakota, Jennifer, Marty, Christopher, Chelsea, Melissa, Zachary, Dale Jr., Elizabeth, & Meaghan.  She is also lovingly survived by her great-grandson, Dante, & many devoted & caring nieces & nephews.  She was the daughter of the late, Mary M. (Gilmore) Murray-Duffy, who died on February 6th, 2012, & the late Charles Murray.  She is also the sister of the late, Thomas H. Duffy, Jr. & Frances Burke.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances would be most appreciated, directed to the family.

Muriel (Ireland) Caputo-McCullough

Family & friends are invited to attend visitng hours on Sunday, August 12th, 2012 from 3 – 6 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Muriel (Ireland) Caputo-McCullough, who died following a brief illness, at North Shore Medical Center-Union Hospital on Wednesday, August 8th, at 85 years.  A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home following the visitation at 6:15 p.m.  Mrs. Caputo-McCullough was born & raised in Trenton, New Jersey & came to live in the Boston area as a young woman.  Her first marriage to Frank P. Caputo ended with his death on December 26, 1976.  In January of 1982, she married James F. McCullough, & moved to Lynn where she remained until her death.  Mr. McCullough died on December 4, 2006.  For over 20 years, she worked with the Salvation Army Store of Boston as store manager & supervisor.  She also traveled to other Salvation Army stores in the area, instituting programs for organization inventory in-take, etc.  Muriel had her own private ministry: packing, & delivering food “Meals on wheels” to the elderly & disenfranchised.  She continued being active until two years ago.  She is the cherished mother of Deborah A. Caputo & Michael W. Caputo, both of Norwich, Connecticut, Peter A. Caputo & his wife Jill of Saugus, John L. Caputo of Lynnfield, & the late: Daniel DeFelice & Frank L. Caputo.  She is the beloved grandmother of Danielle Bradley of Dartmouth, MA, Raya Sunshine DeSimone-Caputo of Winthrop, John R. Surette of Charlestown, & Michael C. Surette of Saugus.  She is the dear sister of Helen Fuller of New Jersey.  She is also lovingly survived by her great-granddaughter, Tiara Pina, & her devoted caregiver, Joseph A. Rotunno of Lynn.  Many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews also survive her.  Interment will be held privately at Swampscott Cemetery, Swampscott.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108.

Albert L. Gillespie

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, August 5th, from 4 to 8 p.m in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere, MA 02151 for Albert L. Gillespie, who died unexpectedly after a long illness on Wednesday August 1st at Melrose – Wakefield Hospital.  A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, August6th at 9:30 a.m, followed by a funeral mass in St. Margaret’s Church, Lincoln Ave. Saugus  at 10:30 a.m. A native of East Boston, he attended East Boston Schools.  Albert worked for New England Casket Company of East Boston, early in his working career.  Later, he was the caretaker of the Temple Ohabei Shalom Cemetery of East Boston.  He was forced to stop working, when his childhood cardiac illness  returned and did not allow him to return to the workforce.  However, he developed several hobbies, including assembling automobile models & puzzles.  A quiet and kind man, he was very comforted by his brothers and their families.  Albert left East Boston in 1988, 24 years when he and his brothers moved to Saugus.  He is the beloved son of the late: John J. ,Sr. & Mary (Frazier) Gillespie.  He is the devoted brother of : Leo F. Gillespie & his wife Kathleen, Robert J. Gillespie all of Saugus,  Francis X. Gillespie & his wife Ann of Stoneham and the late: William J., Arthur S.  & John J. Gillespie, Jr.  He is also lovingly survived by many nieces & nephews, grand nieces & grand nephews.  Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden, MA.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Hallmark Health VNA & Hospice, INC. 178 Savin Street, Malden, MA 02148.

Charles P. Zucco

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, August 1st, 2012 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Charles P. Zucco, “Charlie the Barber,” who died on Sunday, July 29th at Epoch of Melrose, following a long illness, at 74 years.  His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, August 2nd at 11 a.m., followed by the funeral service in the funeral home at 12 Noon.  Charlie was born & raised in East Boston, attended East Boston schools & was a 1958 alumnus of East Boston High School.  He went on to graduate from New England School of Barbering in June of 1961.  From October of 1961 through August of 1962, he served with the United States Air Force, during the Viet-Nam era.  He continued his Air National Guard Service through 1968.  Early in his career, he was head barber & stylist for the former City-Mart Department Store in Downtown Boston.  In 1964, he opened his Barber Shop at the Orient Heights Square location on Bennington St., where he remained for 48 years, until retiring in May of 2011 due to failing health.  Charlie’s parents, the late Peter & Grace (Crisafulli) Zucco, were the founders & proprietors of “Gracie’s Bakery,” on the Orient Heights-Winthrop Bridge, only yards away from where would one day be home to their son’s barber shop, “Charlie’s Barber Shop,” for over 48 years.  As a young boy and all through high school, Charlie & his siblings worked in the “Bakery” after school, on weekends, during school vacations, etc.  Over the years, his parents & siblings, & particularly Charlie, developed “Bakers’ Lung Disease” from the flour dust & coal dust which fueled the ovens.  Little did any of the medical community, at that time, put much credence in the long-standing effects of working within those conditions.  Charlie’s shop was the hub of all things, newsy & social.  Charlie became a mentor to many, certainly a friend to many of the elderly clients he served, often serving them at their homes or in nursing facilities, refusing any monetary renumeration.  Charlie leaves his beloved wife of 45 years, Margaret “Peggy” (Pedersen).  After living in Orient Heights, East Boston, they moved to Melrose in 1975, where they remained.  He is the devoted Father of Lisa M. Pirelli & her husband Edward J., Jr. of Melrose, & Peter L. Zucco & his partner Paul J. Reardon of South Boston.  He is the Dear brother to: Julia “Sis” Bidmead & her husband Warren T. of San Ramon, California, & the late Dr. Angelo J. “Sonny” Zucco.  He is also survived by his many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, & cousins.  He is especially survived by his two canine “Grandsons,” Max & Tucker, who brought him much joy & comfort over the past 8 years.  Interment will be private.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Hallmark Health Hospice & VNA Inc., 178 Savin St., Malden, MA 02148.

Portalla, Jr. who died on Saturday, July 28th at the Whidden Memorial Hospital, after being stricken at his Revere home, unexpectedly, following a long illness, at 81 years.  A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, August 3rd at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere at 10 a.m.  Born in East Boston, he moved to Revere with his family over 75 years ago.  All of his working career was as a longshoreman for the International Association of Longshoremen, Local #805, where he was  member & past treasurer for over 25 years.  Louis was a member of the 1st Revere Chapter of the Ancient & Honorable Order of Hibernians, & a 30 year member & Fleet Captain of the Pleasant Park Yacht Club of Winthrop.  He was a 1948 alumnus of Revere High School & soon after joined the United States Air Force (SAC) serving during the Korean Conflict for over 6 years.  He leaves his beloved wife of 60  years, Lorraine J. (Vaillant).  He is the Devoted Father of: Doranne J. Mattoon & her husband Robert of Greensboro, North Carolina, Mark F. Portalla of Revere, & Craig C. Portalla & his wife Elizabeth of Newburyport.  He is the cherished grandfather of: Lauren E., Ryan L., & William D. Portalla, all of Newburyport, Brendan R. & Patrick N. Mattoon both of Greensboro, NC.  He is the dear brother to: Mary Alongi of Kernersville, NC, Donald Portalla & wife Corrine of Saugus, William Portalla & wife Dorothy of Epping, NH, Charlotte Curley & her husband Austin of Revere, & Edward Portalla of Boston, & the late, Joseph Portalla & Louise Potenza.  He is also survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, & grand-nephews.  Interment will be in Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery, West Peabody.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Restoration Fund at St. Anthony’s Parish, 250 Revere St., Revere, MA 02151.

Dotolo, who died following a brief illness on Friday, July 27th, at Prospect House, Revere, at 92 years.  A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on: Tuesday, July 31st at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere at 11 a.m.  Born & raised in Revere, she attended Revere schools.  Most of her working career was spent working in Boston’s Garment district as a stitcher.  She worked for several of the women’s apparel manufacturers in the Boston area.  She was a member of the International Ladies’ Garment Workers’ Union, Finished Garment Industry Local #26.  She was the beloved daughter of the late, Joseph & Mary “Mamie” (Coppola) Dotolo.  She is the devoted Sister of Nellie Grasso & Lorraine C. Holoway, both of Revere, & the late: Vincent, Lawrence J., Carmine, & Anthony Dotolo.  She is also lovingly survived by many caring nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, & grand-nephews.  Interment will be in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O.
