Dana M. Poindexter

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, June 20th, 2012 from 4 – 8 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Dana M. Poindexter, who died unexpectedly following a long illness on Sunday, June 17th (Father’s Day) at Leominster Hospital, Leominster, at 63 years.  A funeral will be conducted in the funeral home on Thursday, June 21st at 11 a.m., followed by interment in Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery, West Peabody.  Born & raised in Cambridge, he was an alumnus of Cambridge Rindge Latin High School, Class of 1966, & a 1968 alumnus of St. Petersburg, Florida Junior College.  Upon graduation, he remained in Florida for 4 years, working as a computer technician.  He returned to Massachusetts & worked here in the computer industry before starting his own canteen business within the Boston Theatre District.  Dana worked the business, until a long bout with Crohn’s disease & polycystic kidney disease, rendered him disabled.  His illness has been a long struggle, combating long hospital stays, surgeries, & therapies that have extended for almost 30 years.  Within that span of time, he was able to be most present, for his wife & two children, & his grandchildren.  He was an avid fisherman & gardener.  He is the beloved husband of 34 years to Doris J. (Oldford).  He & his family lived in Saugus, MA for over 15 years, & for the past 8 years have lived in Townsend, MA.  He is the Devoted father of: Renee J. Polonsky & her husband Eric of Burke, Virginia, & Brett N. Poindexter & his wife Bethany M. of Townsend, MA.  He is the Cherished Grandfather of: Alexis R. & Taylor E. Poindexter of Townsend, MA & Rebecca J. & Lillian J. Polonsky of Burke, VA.  He is also survived by his dear Mother, Emma A. (D’Abbraccio) Poindexter of Concord, formerly of Arlington, & his brother, Howard J. Poindexter of South Carolina, 2 nephews, 3 nieces, & many cousins.  He was the Son of the late John H. Poindexter.  Dana was a Past Exalted Ruler (PER) of the Saugus Lodge of Elks #642 & a long-time member, & a member of the William Sutton Masonic Lodge of Saugus.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to: Polycystic Kidney Disease (PKD) Foundation, 8330 Ward Parkway, Kansas City, MO 64114-2027, ATTN: “Team Justin.”

Family & friends are invited to visiting hours on Tuesday, June 19th, 2012 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Antonetta “Netta” (Amoroso) Patti, who died on Friday, June 15th at Sunrise Assisted Living of Lynnfield, following a brief illness, at 86 years.  A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Wednesday, June 20th at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere, at 10 a.m.  Born & raised in East Boston, she lived there until 2003, when she moved to Sunrise of Lynnfield.  Her late husband, Ralph Patti, Sr. died in February of 1997.  She is the Devoted mother of: Ralph Patti, Jr. & his wife Linda of Broken Arrow, Oklahoma, Cheryl A. Soriano & her husband Gerard of Bradford, Massachusetts, Debra A. Patti of East Boston, & Anthony Patti & his wife Kristin of Wakefield.  She is the cherished Grandmother of: Christina M. Vargas of Las Vegas, Nevada, Brianna M. Soriano of Bradford, MA, Kevin A. Patti, Andrew R., Marisa L., & Amanda K. Patti all of Wakefield, MA.  She is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, & grand-nephews.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  “Netta” retired at age 77, after 20 years of service with the Harvard Club of Boston, serving as a Hostess & server.  “Netta” was a dedicated homemaker & enjoyed her entire family, who brought her many joys.  May she find peace & contentment in the next life, & ecstasy in being re-united with all her loved ones.

Family & friends are invited to attend a visitation on Saturday, June 16th, 2012 beginning at 10 a.m., at the Regent Theater, 7 Medford Street, Arlington Center, for Herb (Herbert A.) Reed, international entertainer & founder of Herb Reed’s Platters, who died on Monday, June 4th at Kaplan Family Hospice of Danvers, following a long period of declining health, at 83 years.  The Funeral Service will follow at the Regent Theater at 11 a.m., followed by interment at Puritan Lawn Memorial Cemetery, West Peabody.  He is the beloved father of: Herbert A. Reed, Jr. of Arizona, 2 Grandsons, Amir & Blair Reed also of Arizona.  He was the Brother of the late: Gracie Mamie Reed, Leon, Gene & Julius Reed & Caroline Viola Reed, & Rebecca Smith.  He is the son of the late: Carl & Juanita (Brown) Reed.  He is lovingly survived by his extended musical family: Billie Cox of Lynn, MA, Wayne Miller of Everett, Angela Allen of Randolph, Efrain “Frank” Pizarro of New York City, Frederick J. Balboni, Jr. & family of West Peabody, Michael Larson of Hyde Park, & Dan & Lori Norris of Salem, New Hampshire.  Herb also leaves a large extended biological family of nieces, nephews, grand-nieces, grand-nephews, & cousins in Kansas City, Missouri.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to: Mass Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (MSPCA) at Angell, 350 So. Huntington Ave., Boston, MA 02130-9923.  Reed was a Kansas City, Mo., native who founded the Platters in Los Angeles in 1952.  Reed sang bass on the group’s four No. 1 hits, including “The Great Pretender,” “My Prayer,” “Twilight Time” and “Smoke Gets in Your Eyes.”  Reed was the only member of the group to appear on all of their nearly 400 recordings.  He continued touring, performing up to 200 shows per year, until last year.  The Platters were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 1990.

Foley, who died unexpectedly on Friday, June 8th at his Revere home, at 52 years.  Born in Winthrop, he was raised in Everett & Revere.  A funeral service will be held in the Funeral Home on Monday, June 18th at 11 a.m., followed by interment in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  A painter by trade, he worked for Local #35 & was a member of the International Union of Paint & Allied Trades. He also worked as a Driver for “The Ride” & as a custodian for Suffolk Downs.  He is the beloved husband of Elizabeth M. (Kozlowski) of Everett & the devoted son of Avery F. Foley of Coconut Creek, Florida & the late Helen L. (Laurenson) Foley.  He is the Dear brother of Patricia A. Lauren-Magrath of Revere, Kathleen Mack of Naples, FL, John Foley & his wife Eloise of Chelsea, & the late: Joyce A. Collins & Anne M. (Reardon) Collins.  She is the beloved sister of: John F. “Jack” Collins & his wife, Beverly, Barbara M. Orsini all of Revere, & Charles J. (Hartigan) Motherwell.  He is the Devoted father of: Thomas M. Motherwell III & his companion, Tracy Kwiatek of Quincy.  He is the cherished Grandfather of: Thomas A. Motherwell & Shaelyn T. Motherwell.  He is the Dear Nephew of: Richard D. Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Funeral Mass on Monday, June 11th, 2012 at 10 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere, for Domenic P. Frammartino, who died on June 4th, 2012 at Emeritus House at Cherry Hill, Danvers, following a long illness, at 83 years.  Mr. Frammartino was born & raised in Revere, and is a 1947 alumnus of Revere High School, an alumnus of Boston University, Class of 1952, & he received his Master’s degree in Guidance from Boston College, Class of 1959.  He worked on his Doctorate at Boston State Teachers College.  From 1952 – 1992, he served within the Revere School System, as Guidance Counselor, History, Science, & Italian Teacher.  He is a member of the Massachusetts Teachers’ Association, the Retired Revere Teachers’ Association, & the Lynn Camera Club.  His beloved wife, Joan M. (Morelli), died on May 18, 2011.  He is the Devoted father of: Mark A. Frammartino & his wife Barbara of Wanaque, New Jersey, Michele A. Lea & her husband Louis of Danvers, Michael A. Frammartino of Peabody, & Maria A. Blaikie & her husband Robert of Danvers.  He is the cherished Grandfather of: Robert D. Blaikie, Anna R. Blaikie, Alexandra J., Christopher L. & Nicholas E. Lea all of Danvers, & Nikki E. (Ferullo) Tunstall-Dupont, who died after a long & arduous struggle with Metastatic carcinoma at Winthrop Place on Sunday evening, June 3, 2012 at 76 years.  Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, June 9th at 9 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere, at 10 a.m.  Born & raised in Revere, she was an alumna of Revere High School, Class of 1953.  For many years, she worked in the Boston-Filene’s Basement as a clerk & salesperson.  She was a member of the Revere Women of the Moose.  She is the Cherished mother of: Dale R. Tunstall of Sandown, New Hampshire, Kerry S. Tunstall & Sherri A. Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, June 6th, 2012 from 4 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for Sandra Jean “Sandy” (Copeland) Gisetto-Santangelo, who passed on Sunday, June 3, 2012 following a long & difficult struggle with lung cancer at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, at 58 years.  The funeral service will follow the visitation in the funeral home at 8:15 p.m.  Born in Everett, she was a life-long Revere resident & alumna of Revere High School, Class of 1972.  For over 39 years, she was a member of the wait staff at “International House of Pancakes”, Squire Rd., Revere.  “Sandy” was a fixture at “IHOP,” surviving several ownerships.  Over the years, “Sandy” became not only “your personal waitress,” but your confidant, mentor, & listener.  “Sandy” was a member of the Revere Lodge of Elks #1171.  She is the Cherished mother of: Luigi A. Gisetto, Jr. & his wife Sheila E. of Everett, & Jaime L. Santangelo of Merrimack, NH & her companion, Rose Ruisi of Malden.  She is the devoted companion & best friend to: Anthony M. Ford of Farmington, NH.  She is the beloved daughter of Ruth B. (Kautz) Copeland of Revere & the late, Thomas N. Copeland.  She is the adoring grandmother of Jacob T. Gisetto, & the dear sister to: Joanne Tornquist of Everett, & Thomas N. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
