George R. Kingston
Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, March 27th, 2014 from 3 – 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, for George R. Kingston, who passed following a long illness on Sunday, March 23rd at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, Boston, at 80 years. His funeral will be conducted on Friday, March 28th at 9:30 a.m. from the funeral home, followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere, at 10:30 a.m. Born & raised in Revere, he was a 1951 alumnus of Immaculate Conception High School. He entered the United States Army in May of 1953 during the Korean Conflict, & served until April of 1955, with the rank of Sergeant. He then returned to school at Suffolk University, graduated & continued at Salem State College to earn his Master’s in Education. Mr. Kingston spent over 30 years within the Revere School System. He spent much of his career at the Barrows School, serving as a teacher & principal, & then onto McKinley & Lincoln, where he retired in 1994. He was a “Life-Member” of the Revere Knights of Columbus, past President & member of the Revere Municipal Credit Union, member of the Retired Revere Teachers’ Association, & longtime member of the American Legion Post #61 of Revere. George began & ended his life within the confines of the “Immaculate Conception Neighborhood.” That fact, & the comfort & dedication of his extraordinary family, brought him peace & joy in the last 10 years. His dear wife, Ann M. (LaSalle) Kingston, died in February of 2003. He is the devoted father of: George W. “Rusty” Kingston & his fiancee Doreen Perry of Cheshire, Connecticut, John F. Kingston of Revere, the Director of the Revere Municipal Credit Union, & Christopher G. Kingston & his wife Melissa of Tewksbury. He is the cherished grandfather of: Jennifer A. & Jeffrey C. Kingston of Revere, Garrett R. & Cameron G. Kingston, both of Tewksbury, Olivia Rose, Ryan P. & Sean F. Kingston all of Cheshire, CT. He is also lovingly survived by his daughter-in-law, Maria K. Kingston of Revere, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews, & his brother-in-law Attorney Ronald P. Corbett, Retired Revere City Assessor. George was the last of his siblings, the brother of the late: Virginia T. Corbett, Dorothy F. Stuart, Eleanor Reardon, & Margaret Miller. He is the son of the late, George & Margaret (O’Leary) Kingston. Entombment will be in Holy Cross Community Mausoleum, Malden. Donald L. Marks

Born in Chelsea, he attended Chelsea schools & was a 1953 alumnus of Chelsea High School. Most of his working career was as a truck driver for local companies, retiring at age 65 from W.A. Wood Company. Mr. Marks was a longstanding member of the Mt. Vernon-Gaillean Ledge AF&AM of Malden for over 37 years. He carried the title of “Master Mason.” He is the beloved husband of 53 years to Lorraine A. (Aideuis). He is the devoted father of Brenda J. Kelly & her husband John T. “Jake” Kelly, Donald L. Marks, Jr. & his wife Maria, all of Lynnfield, & the late William C. Marks. He is the cherished grandfather of Matthew R. & Lauren E. Kelly, & Austin H. & Olivia M. Marks, all of Lynnfield, & the late Hunter J. Marks. He is the brother of Dorothy L. Waters & her husband John of Ipswich. He is also lovingly survived by several nieces & nephews. Joseph W. Hoy, Jr.
Family & friends are invited to attend a Funeral Mass for Joseph W. Hoy, Jr. on Friday, March 21st, 2014 at 11 a.m. in the Church of St. Joseph, 173 Albion St., Wakefield, followed by interment in the Wood End Cemetery, Reading. Mr. Hoy passed on Tuesday, March 18th at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Medford, at 75 years. He was born & raised in Brighton, & lived many years in the area before coming to Reading in 1987. For over 22 years, he worked for the United States Postal Service, retiring from the South Postal Annex as a supervisor. A daily communicant of St. Joseph’s Church, he would often take his “daily constitutional” (walk) on the Lake at Wakefield. There he formed many new friendships & earned him the title, “Mayor of Wakefield.” He is the beloved & devoted husband, best friend, & soul mate for almost 40 years to Janet M. (Clauss) Hoy. He was the dear son of the late: Joseph W. Hoy, Sr. & Mary A. (Thaxter) Hoy. He is the cherished uncle of Philip & Nancy LaTorre of New Hampshire, David & Marcia LaTorre of North Andover, Paul & Kim Clauss of New Jersey, Diane Kresslein of Virginia, & Kevin Clauss of Winthrop. (Barry) Murphy, who died unexpectedly on Thursday, March 13th at Cape Cod Hospital, Hyannis, at 94 years. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, March 18th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere, at 10:30 a.m. Mrs. Murphy was born & raised in Revere, & lived here all of her life before moving to Yarmouth Port with her daughter 5 years ago. She was an alumna of Immaculate Conception High School, Class of 1937. She worked for over 40 years within the City of Revere as an accountant, first with the Auditor’s Department & finally within the School Department. She worked until 1994. She was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Parish Community all of her life. She was the beloved wife of the late John Patrick Murphy, who passed in September of 1963. She is the devoted mother of Judith A. Murphy of Yarmouth Port, MA. She was the dear sister to the late: Josephine M. Dunlea, Agnes J. Lucey, Helen, Alice, Ruth, & Rita M. Barry, & the late William, Robert, Francis & James Barry. She is also lovingly survived by Mary F. Singleton of Yarmouth Port & many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. James J. “Jesse” Yantosca

The funeral will follow the visitation at 11 a.m. in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St., Revere, where a funeral mass will be celebrated. Interment is private. Born & raised in Revere, he lived his entire life here & was a 1957 graduate of Revere High School. He also attended Suffolk University. For many years, he worked for the Bureau of Building Construction in Boston. He retired from the Revere Parks & Recreation Department as a foreman in 1986. His retirement was early due to declining health. He was a long-time member of the Revere Orioles, Nest #123. He leaves his beloved wife of 52 years, Judith G. (Bazer) Yantosca. He is the devoted father of Retired Master Sergeant Joseph M. Yantosca, USMC & his wife Cynthia of Seabrook, Texas, & Michael J. Yantosca of Revere. He is the cherished grandfather of Crisana L. & Paul Michael Yantosca, both of Seabrook, TX. David A. “Tony” Fleming
Fifteen year Revere resident, David A. “Tony” Fleming, formerly of Jamaica Plain, died on Sunday, March 2nd, 2014 at Boston Medical Center, unexpectedly following a brief illness, at 65 years. Born & raised in Jamaica Plain, he was an alumnus of St. Thomas Aquinas Grammar School in Jamaica Plain, Boston English High School, & Boston Business School. He entered the United States Air Force in January of 1968, rising to the rank of Sergeant, & served until January of 1972. Serving in Thailand, he supplied troops in Vietnam & for the remainder of his four year tour, was stationed at numerous Air Force bases, including Andrews AFB, Washington D.C., & Kinchelo AFB, Michigan. He began his civilian working career at Century Industries, a supplier to U.S. military facilities based in Wisconsin & Texas. He returned to Boston & began working for the Veterans’ Administration. For the past 15 years, he was an administrative specialist for the U.S. Health & Human Services Department – Centers for Medicare & Medicaid. “Tony” will be fondly remembered for his ability “to get things done” & for his generous nature, & outgoing personality. He leaves a legacy in the love of his family, friends, & co-workers. “Tony” had planned to retire to Delray Beach, Florida in May, upon retirement. Because of his caring & dedication to Veterans, the family asks in lieu of flowers, remembrances be made to the New England Shelter for Homeless Veterans, 17 Court St., Boston, MA 02108. “Tony” was the beloved son of the late, Henry J. & Helen M. (Kelly) Fleming. He is the cherished brother to: John S. John N. Matook

Matook, who died unexpectedly at his South Hamilton home on Wednesday, February 26th, at 59 years. His funeral service will be held on Tuesday, March 4th at 11 a.m. in the Christ Episcopal Church, 149 Asbury St., South Hamilton. Interment will be private. Born & raised in Pawtucket, Rhode Island, he was a 1972 graduate of Tolman High School in Pawtucket, RI. He received a Bachelor’s in Philosophy in 1976 from Gordon College of Wenham, MA. Since that time, John has always been a student, especially of Middle Eastern Studies at Harvard Extension School. John holds a Master’s degree in Arabic & at the time of his death, was still pursuing his studies in Middle Eastern Languages, particularly in, almost extinct dialects, of Aramaic & other mid-eastern cultures. John was indeed a “Family Man,” & especially fond of caring for his grandchildren, not only as a grandfather, but as a teacher & mentor. John was a participant in four Iron Man Triathlons (Crossfit). At this time, he was in accelerated training & looking forward to the event. He had a passion for gardening & became an expert in horticulture, educating himself. He was most proud of his gardens in South Hamilton & in Revere. He & his family lived in Revere for several years before moving to South Hamilton in 1999. John was the founder & president of DIA-SALES, a company he founded in 1990. He was a member of the First Congregational Church of Revere. He is the beloved husband of 36 years to Linda M. (Granitsas) Matook. He is the devoted father of: Jamie L. Panagopolos & her husband Christopher of Essex, MA, Nicholas J. & John D. Matook both of South Hamilton, Timothy J. Matook & his wife Catherine of Beverly, & Sopeet Bou of Revere. John & his dear wife also fostered many children, including the Tran family & Danny Khiev. He also leaves two cherished grandchildren, Mark O. & Brooke J. Matook. Frank Colantuoni

Following the visitation, there will be a funeral mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Washington Ave., Revere, at 11 a.m. Born & raised in East Boston, he attended Boston schools & entered the United States Army in October of 1942, & served until January of 1946. He is a World War II Veteran. “Butch” was a graduate of the former Cooks & Bakers School of Monmouth, New Jersey. Most of his working career was spent as a meat cutter for several markets & chain grocery stores. However, he retired in 1987 after 25 years of service with Stop & Shop, Inc. in their Meats Department. His memberships included: the Meat Cutters Union, American Legion Post #61 of Revere, & the Revere Loyal Order of the Moose. His beloved wife, Elizabeth G. “Betty” (Rose) Colantuoni, died in April of 1986. He was the brother of the late Pasquale Colantuoni. He is the devoted uncle of: William J. Colantuoni & his wife Janice of Lawrence, Christine Colantuoni of South Hamilton, & the late John P. Colantuoni. He is the cherished grand-uncle to: Amy Tsai & her husband Dr. David Tsai, M.D. of Andover, Lawrence Police Detective William P. Colantuoni & his wife Sandria, Lawrence Police Patrolman Michael J. Josephine A. (Ragusa) Dionisi

(Ragusa) Dionisi, of Revere, who passed away on Wednesday, January 22nd at the Whidden Memorial Hospital following a brief illness, at 95 years. A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, January 28th at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, in Revere, at 11 a.m. Born and raised in East Boston, Josephine was educated in the Boston Public Schools system. In 1940, she married Philip Dionisi, with whom she began her life and family, including a son & a daughter. They remained in East Boston until moving to Revere in 1966, where she remained. Josephine is a retiree of State Street Bank, where she had 20 years of employment as a Clerical Secretary. Shortly after retiring from State Street Bank, Josephine then went to work at Baybank, in the same field for 17 years, retiring at 76 years of age. For several years, Josephine dedicated her time as a volunteer at the Whidden Memorial Hospital, and also would spend time at the Rossetti Senior Center. In 2001, she lost her husband of 61 years of marriage, Phillip Dionisi. She is the devoted mother of: Philip R. Dionisi & his wife Anne of Salem, and Diane M. Iacuzio & her husband Gennaro “Jerry” of Revere. She is the cherished grandmother of: Maria Dahlgren & her husband Rodney, Theresa Dionisi, and Christopher Dionisi all of Salem, Deanne L. Pedersen & her husband Thomas of North Andover, and Gerald Iacuzio & his wife Michiko of Wellesley. She is the adored great-grandmother of: Kanata, Yuna, Koga & Adrianna. She is the loving sister of Robert Ragusa of Peabody and the late Phyllis Salini, Margaret Spolsino & Elsie DeDonato. Also lovingly survived by many nieces & nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.
