Isabelle C. (LaRaia) Gardiner
Family & friends are respectfully invited to attend a Funeral Mass on Monday, November 21st at 11:30 am in St. John the Evangelist Church, 320 Winthrop St. Winthrop, for Isabelle C. (LaRaia) Gardiner who died peacefully on Tuesday, November 15th, at Presentation Rehabilitation in Newton, following a long illness, she was 96 years old. Interment will immediately follow in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
Isabelle was born on July 10, 1926 in East Boston on to her late parents, Paul & Frances (Costa) LaRaia. She & her sister, Rose “Babe” were raised & educated in East Boston. She was an alumna of Girls’ High, Class of 1944. Isabelle was a proud & loving mother to her only child, Leslie Isabelle was absolutely devoted to her daughter and taught her good morals, faith, & love for family. She raised her daughter with her mother, Frances while she worked full time along the way. She began her working career as a buyer at Conrads in Boston. For a period of time, she later took an administrative position at Emery Air Freight International, where she worked for over 35 years. After working & retiring from Emery, Isabelle secured a part time position with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, where she would spend 17 years, then she retired. Isabelle loved her grandchildren and especially adored her great grandchildren. Family was most important to her, she had an extremely close relationship with her sister Rose, and her sons, Alan & Laurence, as well. She leaves behind nothing but beautiful memories & stories for them all to share.
She is the beloved wife of 37 years to the late William F. Gardiner, Jr. Loving & devoted mother of Leslie A. Ciampi & her husband Peter L. of Lexington. The cherished grandmother of Courtney M. Ciampi of Lake Bluff, IL., Holly C. Reil & husband Jon of Brookline, & Gretchen Ciampi – Conti & husband Richard of Arlington. The adored great grandmother of Cole, Saige, Chase, Logan, Vienna, Simone, Leonardo, & Vincent. The treasured sister of the late Rose M. “Babe” Giangregorio. The wonderful aunt of Alan L. Giangregorio & wife Denise of Winthrop & Lawrence P. Giangregorio & wife Irene of Wellfleet & their families.

Edith L. (Kingsbury) Iovine
Family & friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, from 3 to 7 pm in the Vertuccio & Smith home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt. 107) Revere for Edith L. (Kingsbury) Iovine who died on Saturday, November 12th at her home in Limerick, Maine following a brief illness, she was 94 years old. A Funeral will be conducted from the funeral home beginning at 10 am followed by a Funeral Service in the Funeral Home at 11 am. Interment immediately followed in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
Edith was a native of Maine. She was born in Farmington, ME on April 12, 1928 to her late parents, Joseph & Flora (Young) Kingsbury. She was one of six children and was raised & educated in Wilton, ME. She was an alumna of Wilton High School Class of 1946. She later traveled to Massachusetts to pursue her education in Nursing. After she completed her certification in Nursing, she took a position at Cheslea Memorial Hospital, where she worked as a Floor Nurse. It was here in Massachusetts that she met her husband, Louis R. Iovine. They were later married and remained in revere where together they began their family. She was the proud mother of her three children and continued to work as a nurse. She later transferred to the Winthrop Hospital, where she retired in 1991. Edith enjoyed spending her winters in Hallandale, FL, which she did for over 40 years. She & her husband traveled extensively, she especially enjoyed going on cruises. Above all else, Edith was all about family. She treasured spending time with them and making memories.
She is the beloved wife of the late Ret. Revere Fire Fighter Louis R. Iovine of 36 years. The loving mother of Karen A. Iovine – Oakes of Limerick, ME & her late husband Gerald Oakes, Debra J. Hanscom & her husband Roger D. of Saugus, & Revere Firefighter Louis J. Iovine & his companion Nancy Morigerato of Revere. She is the cherished grandmother of 7 grandchildren, 17 great grandchildren & 6 great-great grandchildren. She is the dear sister of 5 deceased brothers & sisters. Also lovingly survived by many many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, & grandnephews. In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to a very special charity to Edith. Joseph J. Bukowski
Joseph J. Bukowski, passed away unexpectedly at the age of 74 of natural causes. Joseph was born in the Philippines on September 4, 1948, while his father was serving in the U.S military overseas. He is the son of the late Joseph and Stella Bukowski.
Joseph graduated from St. Mary’s Boys High in 1966 and enlisted in the U.S. Air Force where he repaired radios for U.S. Air Force F-4 Phantom jets. Following his honorable discharge, he acquired an Associate Degree Science and Repair of Electronics at North Shore Community College.
As documented in a Salem News article, Joseph dabbled in other pursuits, such as stage and film acting – which included stints as a bad guy in Hollywood where he also wrote screenplays. He appeared in many local theatre productions. Joseph was a life-long member of the Screen Actors Guild (SAG).
Eventually he returned to old-fashioned electronics, opening his latest business, Salem HiFi located on Bridge Street in Salem. He boasted on his website, “I’ve been lucky to have the best customers around.” Customers found his business and Joe serviced many people from around New England. Most recently, a customer from western Massachusetts (3 hours from Salem) shared her last conversation with Joe, she asked when she could pick up her console. His answer was: “You’re the customer. You tell me when.” His business ethic was straightforward and honest.
Joseph lived an independent lifestyle, but always enjoyed time with family. He appreciated the simple things in life and lived on his own terms. He was a “free spirit”!
He was the devoted brother of Ann Kelleher and her husband Michael of Charlestown, cherished uncle of Christa Kelleher and her husband Anthony Fernandez of Arlington and Michael Kelleher and his wife Christine Kang of Plymouth. He is the treasured granduncle to Michael William and Aubrey Joseph Kelleher, and Lucas David and Toby Louis Fernandez. He is also lovingly survived by many cousins.
To honor Joseph, please reach out to those you encounter with kindness and respect. As his website states, “the purpose of life…to be happy, and make others happy…Dalai Lama.”
We will miss Joseph or “Joe” but remember many treasured moments or conversations as he always had an inspirational quote, story or thought to share.
And, at this time of great need, please consider donating or volunteering at your local food pantry.

Virginia A. “Dudie” (Barberi) Thompson
Family & friends are respectfully invited to attend visiting hours on Wednesday, November 16th from 11 – 1 pm in the Vertuccio & Smith home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt. 107) Revere for Virginia A. “Dudie” (Barberi) Thompson who died at the Massachusetts General hospital in Boston, on Wednesday, November 9th following a brief illness, she was 90 years old. A funeral service will immediately follow the visitation in the funeral home. Entombment will be in Holy cross Community Mausoleum, Malden.
Dudie was born in Oakland, California. She was the daughter of the late Angelo & Teresa (Garisto) Barberi. She was raised & educated in East Boston. She was married and raised her only child, her daughter Patricia by herself. She was a strong and vivacious woman who was very much in charge and led the way. She raised her daughter with good values & morals. Dudie worked while she raised her daughter for Mille’s Candy & Schraffts Candy for over 15 years as a “packer”. She later worked at Jordan marsh in Boston in the Toy department as well as other various jobs. Where some may remember her most, was as a bartender & waitress at the Victory Pub in Orient heights in East Boston. She worked there for many years while her son in law, William Motherway had owned & operated the bar. Anyone who knew Dudie, knew of her quick wit, her funny sense of humor & shoot from the hip personality. She told it like it was and wasn’t shy about it. She was also very loving & caring in many ways. She was blessed when she had her grandson, P.J. born. Her grandson was one of her biggest joys, in life.
She is the mother of Patricia A. Motherway of East Boston, & her late husband William “Billy” Motherway who died on May 9th, 2022. She is the cherished grandmother of Patrick “P.J.” Mazac & his companion Dena M. DiMarzo and their daughter, Deanna M. DiMarzo of Peabody. She is the dear sister of the late James Barberi & Lorraine Barberi.

Edward M. Spears
Funeral Services & Interment will be held privately for Edward M. Spears, who died on Tuesday, November 8th at the McCarthy Care Center in East Sandwich on Cape Cod, following a long battle with liver cancer, he was 47 years.
Eddie was born in Boston to Muriel D. Spears & Edward Manfra. He was raised & educated in Provincetown. He attended Provincetown High School. During his youth he played soccer & hockey for Provincetown High School, he was very good at both sports and was an excellent teammate. Eddie knew his calling was to work in the food industry and he followed his passion. He worked in various restaurants in Provincetown & around Cape Cod. He enjoyed cooking and watching people enjoy his food. He also enjoyed gardening where he would grow fruits, vegetables & herbs. His biggest blessing was his son, Justin, he loved him unconditionally & strived to be the best father he could. Unfortunately, due his declining heath and prognosis, he was forced to stop working. We are all saddened by the loss of this wonderful young man who had so much potential & love to give.
He is the loving father of Justin Spears. Cherished son of Muriel D. Spears of Provincetown & the late Edward Manfra. Treasured brother of Richard Days of Cambridge. Beloved grandson of Ralph McAllister & his late wife Ellen McAllister & the late Denise McAllister. Special cousin of Samantha Jo, Meghan, Olivia, Brittany & Jeffrey. He also lovingly survived by many aunts & uncles.

Gary G. Peluso, Sr.

Gary was born in Revere and was the son of Guy & Caroline (Naroksi) Peluso. He attended local schools and was a graduate of Revere High School. Following high school, he joined his father working in the family business, Guy G. Peluso Advertising. He married Rose Marie (MacDougall) and the couple raised their only son, Gary Jr., in Revere. Gary was a hard worker and always worked to support his family. He eventually took over the family business and continued to operate it for over 10 years before retiring. He also held a second job with the Boston Globe. Gary enjoyed his family, especially his grandchildren. He was also interested in local politics and serving his community. A lifelong resident of Revere, he was a former candidate for Ward 6 City Councilor and also the Revere seat on the Northeast Regional Vocational High School’s School Committee.
He is the beloved husband of the late Rose Marie (MacDougall) Peluso, who passed away in October of 2017, after sharing 26 years of marriage together. He is the devoted father of Gary G. Peluso, Jr. & his wife Miah Joseph of Revere and he was also the father of three children from his first marriage, Brian Peluso, Michelle Peluso-Biarrio and Mark Peluso, all formerly of Revere. Cherished grandfather to Skylar R. & Grayson G. Dear brother of Dolores Ferragamo, Richard Peluso & the late Theodore Peluso & the late Guy Peluso. He is also lovingly survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews.

Ralph D. Zammit

Born in Malta, Ralph was the son of Sebastian & Mary Zammit. As a young child, at the age of 2, the family immigrated to the United States and settled in the Boston area, he remained in the Boston and South Shore area. Ralph attended local schools and would eventually become a Master Plumber and he established “Plumber Time”, a company he owned and operated for over 40 years. He retired only a few years ago. Ralph was devoted to his family and enjoyed spending time with family. He also enjoyed fishing and visiting casinos.
He is the former husband of Alice L. Zammit-Baldassari & Margaret Zammit-Donahue. Loving father of Ralph Zammit, Jr. & his late wife Kelly Astrofsky of Dorchester, Rachelle Zammit of Dorchester, Domonic J. Zammit & his wife Michelle Nadeau of Ft. Michael was born in Winthrop, to his late parents Thomas J. & Louise (Santarpio) Riordan. He was raised in Winthrop and educated at the Higgins Classical Institute in Charleston, ME. Michael, married his sweetheart, Assunta “Susan” (Donisi) in 1969. The couple moved to Revere where they remained, to begin their life and family together. He was a very proud father of his four sons. He was ever present as they were growing up and participated in all their extracurricular activities. In 1986, Michael began Delta Management Associates, a collection agency that he started from a home office and grew successfully into a national 3rd party debt collection firm. In his spare time, he was an avid coin and stamp collector. He enjoyed the occasional trip to one of the local casinos where he could be found at a black jack table. He was a family man, through & through, and nothing brought him more happiness, pride & joy than his seven beautiful grandchildren.
He is the beloved husband of 53 years to Assunta “Susan” (Donisi) Riordan of Revere. Loving father of Thomas J. Riordan & wife Michelle of Georgetown, Atty. Michael A. Riordan & wife Atty. Kate Riordan of Methuen, Christopher A. Riordan & wife Holly of Georgetown, & Atty. David M. Riordan of Danvers. Linda L. (Napolitano) Barys
Funeral Services were held in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, for Linda L. (Napolitano) Barys who died at her home in Saugus on Friday, October 28th unexpectedly, she was 72 years old. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
Linda was born in Chelsea, on March 6th, 1950 to her late parents Roger & Alice (Neri) Napolitano. She was raised & educated in Revere and was an alumna of Revere high School, Class of 1968. Linda’s working career was spent in retail. She began working at Jordan Marsh Co. in Boston, then later at Assembly Square Mall in Somerville. She left and went to work for Filene’s at the Square One Mall in Saugus until they closed. She retired at 65 years old, while working at Target. Linda’s greatest joy was her son, Rick. She loved him unconditionally. She was blessed with a wonderful daughter-in-law when Rick married his wife, Diane (Crivello). They gave her biggest joy & gift with two grandchildren, Brandon & Dillon. Linda enjoyed her bowling league at the Town Line, as well as playing bingo and watching her beloved Boston Bruins.
She is the beloved wife of the late Joseph J. Barys. Loving mother of Richard A. “Rick” Perry & wife Diane L. of Peabody. Cherished Nana of Brandon M. Perry & Dillon T. Perry both of Peabody. Dear sister of the late Roger A. Napolitano. She is also lovingly survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews & friends.

William E. “Bill” Johns

A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, November 3rd beginning at 10 am, followed by a funeral mass at 11 am in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St. Revere. Interment will be in Massachusetts National Cemetery in Bourne with Military Honors.
Bill was born in Boston to his late parents, Edward & Theresa D. “Eileen” (Morrissey) Johns. Bill was one of 5 children, raised in East Boston’s Jeffries Point. He was educated in Boston Public Schools and his catholic faith was a very important part of his upbringing. He enlisted in the United States Army in 1955 and served until 1957, then transferring into the US Army Reserves, until 1963. He proudly served his country and when he completed his service, he focused on his career & life. He married his wife Margaret E. (Hutchinson) on June 14, 1964. He & his wife would begin their life together residing in East Boston, where they began their family. Bill took a position with the Alleghany Airlines which later became US Air. He worked as an Aircraft Maintenance Cleaner, a career that spanned 34 years of service with the company. Bill & his family later moved to Winthrop for several years before moving back to East Boston. In 2015 they sold their home in East Boston where they shared great memories & moved to Revere. Bill was a devoted loving husband & father. He was also smiling, and usually telling a very comical story. Bill was hardworking, humble & seeking to do good deeds. In his younger days, Bill enjoyed sharing his joy of boating with his family, but especially with his son, Billy. He was a past member of the Jeffries Yacht Club, in East Boston.
He is the beloved husband of 58 years to Margaret E. “Margie” (Hutchinson) Johns of Revere. Loving father of Mary T. Hibbard & husband John of Walpole, Maureen A. Torres of Winthrop, & William M. Johns & wife Julie of Weymouth. Loving papa of William T. Johns & wife Renee, Ryan J. Hibbard, Alisha Torres, Justin P. Hibbard, Andrew E. Johns, Rachel Torres, Megan E. Hibbard, & Danielle Torres. The adored great papa of Aliyah & Nora.
