John T. Hegarty

Family & friends are invited to visit with family on Sunday, January 13th beginning at 12 noon in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere for John T. Hegarty, who died unexpectedly at his Randolph residence on January 3rd.  His funeral service will be conducted in the funeral at 1:00 p.m.. Mr. Hegarty suffered an Acute Myocardial Infarction, upon returning from working the niteshift at Stop & Shop (Thursday January 3rd),  He had worked for  Stop & Shop as a foreman for the past four years.  Prior to that time, he worked in the roofing industry and for many years, worked with “Angelo’s Roofing” of Revere.  john was an avid boater and enjoyed his time on the ocean, sailing the harbor.  He is the beloved and faithful husband for 29 years to Lee M. (Frieder) of Randolph, He is the devoted brother to: Kathleen M. Walsh and Maureen A. Alinkonis both of Winthrop and the late Michael J. Hegarty.  He is the dear uncle of: Stefani Kosinski of Chelsea, Dianna (Walsh) of San Dieago, CA, Daniel & Andrew Walsh both of St. Petersburg, FL and Christopher, Nicholas & Ryan Alikonis all of Tewksbury.  He is the brother – In law of: Maryann Hegart of Revere , Ellen Spicuzza of Canton,  Laurance Walsh of Winthrop and Stephen Alikonis of Tewksbury.  He is the caring nephew of Robert o. Hegarty  & his wife Patricia of Tewksbury, Maryanne Giglio and her husband Roger of Revere,  Eileen M. Hegarty of New Bedford and the late Kevin M. Hegarty.  He was the beloved son of the late: John T. Hagerty, Sr. & Ruth (Liston) & the grandson of the late: Timothy & Anne T. Phyllis M. (Frederico) Erickson

A funeral mass was celebrated on Christmas Eve morning, December 24th, for Phyllis M. (Frederico) Erickson died on Friday, Dec. 21st, following a long illness battling ovarian cancer, at Kaplan Family Hospice of Danvers.  Born & raised in East Boston, Phyllis was a 1953 alumna of East Boston High School.  She is the daughter of the late: Joseph S. Frederico & Esther (Schiavo) Frederico.  She is the wife of the late: William F. Erickson who died October 2004, She is the devoted mother of: Esta A. Panora of East Boston and Steven E, Panora & his wife Carol of Malden and dear sister of Connie Surrette of Beverly.  She is the cherished grandmother  of Stepahnie Panora & Jaimie Goad.  She is also lovingly survived by Jennifer Hovey and her husband Phillip of Andover, CT.  Her great grandson Vincent and her long time devoted friend Albano Tassinari of East Boston & several nieces and nephews and caring friends.  Interment will be held privately in the spring.  Remembrances may be made to the: Hospice of the North Shore & Greater Boston, 75  Sylvan St., Danvers, MA 01923.

Lillian M. (Terrio) Prisco

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Thursday, October 18th, 2012 from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere for Lillian M. (Terrio) Prisco, who died on Tuesday, October 16th at the Pleasant Bay Nursing Facility in Brewster, MA, unexpectedly following a brief illness, at 93 years.  The funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, October 19th, at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) Revere at 10:30.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  Born and raised in Revere she was a lifelong resident of Revere and often spent summer vacations at Chatham.  Mrs. Prisco had a large extended family in Nova Scotia, Canada.  Until the age of 89, she would drive alone to visit her family at least once a year & sometimes twice a year.  For over 50 years, she owned and operated “Lillian’s Beauty Salon” on Broadway, Chelsea.  She held her beautician’s license until age ninety.  She is the wife of the late: Edward J. Prisco, who died in December of 1989.  She is the devoted mother of: William R. Prisco & his wife Joan C. of Revere & Chatham.  She is the cherished grandmother to: Rachael A. Evans & her husband, Richard A. “J.R.” of Revere.  She is the dear sister to the late: Lorraine Mahan, Rita M. Pfiel, Walter A. Terrio, Jr. & Doris E. Terrio.  She is lovingly survived by her sister-in-law, Rita Terrio of Chatham and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.  She is a long-time member of the Merritt Club of Chelsea.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the: St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Leanora (D’Ambrosio) Kretas

Family and friends are invited to visit with the family on Wednesday, October 17th in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere beginning at 10 a.m., followed by a funeral service in the funeral home at 12 noon, for Leanora (D’Ambrosio) Kretas, who died in her Lebanon, Maine residence following a brief illness.  Born in East Boston, August 18, 1924, she resided there until moving to Revere in 1963.  She was a 1942 Alumna of East Boston High School.  For many years she worked at Mass Eye and Ear infirmary of Boston as  a clerk, retiring from there in September of 1991.  Prior positions she held were at, Hart Caterers & The Electric Boat Co., of Groton CT.  She was along time member of the Revere Women of the Moose, Lodge # 1272 and The AFLCIO (Caterers Union) Local for Food & Beverages.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, MA.  She was the widow of the late John M. Kretas.  She is the devoted mother of, George A. Kretas & his wife Maria of Wakefield, MA , Paul R. Kretas & his wife Elaine of North Berwick, Maine and the Late Major John M. Kretas, US Army Special Forces.  She is the dear sister of Phyllis Restiano & her husband Donald “Rusty” of South Berwick, Maine and the late John, Gaetano “Guy” and Ralph D’Ambrosio, Mary Grasso and Philomena D’Ambrosio.  She is the cherished grandmother of George Kretas of Malden, MA, Stephanie Strongosky & her husband Jamie of Stoneham, MA., John M. Kretas of Florida, Laurie Kretas of Chandler Arizona, Amy Kretas & her husband Richard Higgins of Huntington Beach, CA., Matthew Kretas & his wife Melanie of Groton, MA., Tara Ragucci & her husband Louis of Wilmington, MA and Christopher T. Alexander F. Capossela, Sr.

Alexander F. Capossela, Sr.

Visiting hours are scheduled for Alexander F. Capossela, Sr. a.k.a. “Bobby Santo”, for Wednesday, August 22nd from 4 to 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere.  Mr. Capossela died unexpectedly on Saturday evening, August 18th, after being stricken at his Revere Home.  A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, August 23rd at 9 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere at 10 a.m.  Born and raised in Boston’s North End, he attended schools in the Boston area.  For over 55 years, he was associated with Suffolk Downs Racing Track & Wonderland Dog Track, in their Mutuel’s Department, serving as a Mutuel’s Clerk.  In the 1960’s and 1970’s he had relocated to Florida & worked several of the Florida tracks.  Early in his career, he & two other friends formed a Dance Trio, the Trio was professionally known as the “Mambo Dueces” performing on the Boston pop scene, supper clubs, nite clubs, and privately for social clubs and events.  The Trio specialized & featured Ballroom dancing & Latin American dancing.  The trio won many awards in competitions & demonstrations throughout the state. They danced from the 1940’s through the 1960’s. Perhaps, he would appreciate being remembered as a life-long New York Yankees Officianado and Supporter.  He is the devoted husband of 32 years to Patricia A. (Ross) Capossela.  He is the cherished father of,  Alexander F. “Alex” Capossela, Jr., Lauren M. Capossela & Robert E. Capossela all of Revere.  He is the dear brother of, Marie Capossela & Eleana Sutera both of Boston’s North End and the late, Louise DiCenso, who died July 7th, 2012, Margaret Lanni,  Lena Perroso & Carmine Capossela.  He is the beloved brother-in-law to, Robert W. Ross of St. Petersburg, FL, Mary Lou Ross & her companion Thomas Prizio and Cynthia M. Ross all of Revere and the late Edward J. Ross, Jr. Also lovingly survived by many caring nieces and nephews & grand nieces and grand nephews.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.  In Lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 60 Walnut St., Wellesley, MA 02481

Albert L. Gillespie

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, August 5th, from 4 to 8 p.m in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere, MA 02151 for Albert L. Gillespie, who died unexpectedly after a long illness on Wednesday August 1st at Melrose – Wakefield Hospital.  A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, August6th at 9:30 a.m, followed by a funeral mass in St. Margaret’s Church, Lincoln Ave. Saugus  at 10:30 a.m. A native of East Boston, he attended East Boston Schools.  Albert worked for New England Casket Company of East Boston, early in his working career.  Later, he was the caretaker of the Temple Ohabei Shalom Cemetery of East Boston.  He was forced to stop working, when his childhood cardiac illness  returned and did not allow him to return to the workforce.  However, he developed several hobbies, including assembling automobile models & puzzles.  A quiet and kind man, he was very comforted by his brothers and their families.  Albert left East Boston in 1988, 24 years when he and his brothers moved to Saugus.  He is the beloved son of the late: John J. ,Sr. & Mary (Frazier) Gillespie.  He is the devoted brother of : Leo F. Gillespie & his wife Kathleen, Robert J. Gillespie all of Saugus,  Francis X. Gillespie & his wife Ann of Stoneham and the late: William J., Arthur S.  & John J. Gillespie, Jr.  He is also lovingly survived by many nieces & nephews, grand nieces & grand nephews.  Interment will follow in Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden, MA.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to the Hallmark Health VNA & Hospice, INC. 178 Savin Street, Malden, MA 02148.

Anna H. (Smith) Zanstuck

Visiting Hours are on Monday July 16th, beginning at 9 a.m., in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway ( Route 107) Revere, for Anna H. (Smith) Zanstuck, who died unexpectedly on Thursday, July 12th at the Whidden Memorial Hospital, Everett.  Her funeral will follow the visitation at St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere at 11 a.m.,  followed by interment in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Boston.  Mrs. Zanstuck was born in Boston and lived in Charlestown for over 86 years.  In 2004, the family moved to Revere.  Mrs. Zanstuck worked  for over 15 years with the Schrafft’s Candy Company , as a candy inspector & packer.  After Schrafft’s closed its doors, she secured a position with the former Jordan Marsh Co.  of Boston, as a buyer’s assistant, retiring from there, after 10 years of service.  A deeply religious woman, she had been a faithful parishioner of St. Frances De Sales Church in Charlestown and then when she moved to Revere , joined St. Anthony of Padua, in Revere.  She was the widow early in life, when her husband, John J. Zanstuck, Sr. died suddenly on February 22nd, 1965 at 48 years.  She is the devoted mother of: Carol Anne Zanstuck & Marie F. Zanstuck, both of Revere, MA and John J. Zanstuck, III and his wife Deborah of Weymouth, MA.  She is also the cherished  grandmother of Matthew S. & Scott J. Zanstuck both of Pembroke, MA and John J. Zanstuck, IV of Weymouth, MA.  She is the dear sister of : Antoinette Primerano, Jennie Smith,  both of Arlington, MA, Helen Bushee of Middleton, MA & the late Micheal & Frank Smith.  Many loving nieces and nephews and grand nieces and grand nephews also survive her.  In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to: Dana – Farber Cancer Institute, Division of development & The Jimmy Fund, 10 Brookline Place West, Brookline, MA 02445-9924.

John Grainger

A private funeral was held in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, for John Grainger who died unexpectedly following a long illness at his Revere home, on Wednesday July 4th, 2012.  Born in Boston, he was the son of Sydney & Gertrude (Torrance)  Grainger.  The family lived in Charlestown before moving to Beachmont, Revere in 1971.    John worked for Kenney Management Systems as a supervisor of Maintenance for over 20 years, before retiring in 1999.  He is the husband of the late Grace M. (Fortuna) Grainger who passed in June of 1996.  He is the beloved father to: Kathleen M. Briana & Patricia A. Grainger both of Revere.  He is the devoted Grandfather to: Rachel M. , Talya J. Briana & Rickie W. Briana and Edward & Sarah J. Grainger all of Revere.  He is the brother of: Barbara Caridieo of Boston and the late, Donald, Briggie & Isabelle Grainger.  Several nieces & nephews also survive him.  Rememberances may be made to: The American Heart Association, 20 Speen St., Framingham, MA 01701-4688

Joseph S. Fassi

Family and friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Monday, July 9th from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107)  Revere, MA.  For Joseph S. Fassi, who died on Tuesday, June 26th at his Center Ossipee, NH home, unexpectedly.  Mr. Fassi was 51 years old.  His funeral will be on Tuesday, July 10th from the funeral home at 1 0 a.m., followed by a funeral service in the Funeral Home at 11 a.m..  Born in Boston, he was raised & educated in Revere and lived in Revere until moving to Center Ossipee, NH in 2002.  He was a 1978 alumnus of the Northeast Vocational School of Wakefield, with his major in Food Service.  From a youth he showed an avid interest in cooking and food presentation.  He began his career at the former Valle’s Steakhouse of Saugus on route 1, as an apprentice chef and later became Head Chef.  While in the employ of Valle’s, he traveled throughout, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, Maine and Vermont, training other chefs.  He spent over 10 years with Valle’s before moving onto the former Kernwood Restaurant of Lynnfield, where he was Head Chef for over 10 years.  About ten years ago, he became ill with Diabetes which forced him into the ranks of disabled.  Joe had a passion for his profession & had always worked toward returning to his craft.  He was the son of the late: Joseph N Fassi & Anna (Testa) Fassi.  He is the devoted brother to: Eugene S. Fassi & his wife AnnMarie of Orlando, FL,  Judith A. Dennison & her husband Arlen of Bradford, MA , Robert G. Fassi of Ossipee, NH, with whom he made his home, Stephen A. Fassi & his wife Stacey of Londonderry, NH & Charles J. Fassi & his wife Jodi of Goffstown, NH.  He is also lovingly survived by many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.  Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett, MA.  In lieu of flowers remembrances may be made to the: Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation, 60 Walnut St., Wellesley, MA 02481

Adefowope T. “Adie” Fetuga

Family and friends are invited to visit with the family on Tuesday, June 5th, beginning at 4 p.m. thru 6 p.m. in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere, MA 02151, for Adefowope T. Fetuga.  Who died  on Thursday, May 31st following a long and arduous battle with metastatic carcinoma, at the Lighthouse Nursing Facility of Revere.  A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home at 6:15 p.m..  Mr. Fetuga was born and raised in Nigeria, Africa and came to live in the United States six years ago, settling in Revere.  For five years he worked for Allied – Barton Security Company.  “Adie” was highly regarded not only within his own community but also at his place of employment, as a dedicated family man.  As his illness intensified he became more protective for the welfare and care of his devoted wife and three children.  He is the beloved husband of: Francisca U. (Aghedo) Fetuga and the devoted & cherished father to:  Adeola M. , Ademola Adegbui,  and Adekanmi P. Fetuga , all of Revere.  He is also lovingly survived by a large extended family in Nigeria.  Interment will be private.

We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
