Private Funeral Services will be held for longtime Revere resident, Elizabeth A. “Lee” (Scarpetti) Jalbert, who passed at her Revere residence, following a lengthy illness on March 21st, 2020.
She was an alumna of Revere High School, Class of 1943 & immediately went to work for the former Forbes Lithograph of Revere & Chelsea. “Lee” was placed in the currency unit- creating money for the war effort. As she told her family, many, many times, her job was exciting & never boring.
She was the wife of the late Hector H.” Jalbert, who passed on April 25, 2013, after 68 years of marriage. She is the cherished mother to Leslie A. Parechanian & & her husband, Dale F. of Revere & the late Sharon E. DeRenne. Devoted grandmother to Kristen A. DeRenne-Travelo & her husband, George M. of Merrimac, Janelle M. & Justin M. Parechanian, both of Revere & the adoring great-grandmother of Madison R. & Autumn L. Travelo, Cali B. Ryker L., Gabrielle, & Nate Travelo. Dear sister of the late, Mary Santsuosso & Anne M. Hurley. She is also lovingly survived by her son-in-law, Lawrence L. DeRenne of Merrimac, many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews & cousins. Admired daughter to the late Domizio Scarpetti & Bessie (Sherman) Scarpetti.

She was an alumna of Everett High School, Salem State Teachers’ College & Lesley College. Long-time member of the Salem State Alumni Board of Directors & the Bellevue Golf Club of Melrose.

At 75 years, of Nashua, NH, formerly of East Boston, MA on March 11th. Devoted son of the late Lt. Col. Dante M. Memmolo, & Mary R. (Laurano) Memmolo. Cherished brother of Mary Jane Marcucci of Newburyport, MA and Margaret A. Shand (Michael) of Barrington, RI. Dante was predeceased by his brother Michael and his twin, Anthony. The beloved nephew of Stanley Buonagurio & Gloria Laurano, both of East Boston. Dear brother-in-law of Patricia Memmolo of Bradenton, FL. Adored uncle of Michael Memmolo (Tricia) of Tigard, OR, Andrea Currier (Michael) of Bradenton, FL, David Memmolo (Jessica) of Oceanside, CA, Mary Canelas (Paul) of Hudson, NH, Annemarie Butler (Bret) of Newburyport, MA, Jayne Millerick of Bow, NH, Elizabeth Marcucci of Epping, NH, Benjamin Shand of NYC & Grace Shand of Providence, RI. Dante had a lifelong career in the dental industry as a sales representative and covered territory in New England, upstate New York and the South. His companies included SS White, Rower (Healthco) Dental, Henry J. Bosworth and Dux Dental. In his retirement, Dante enjoyed a part-time job as a sales associate for Brooks Brothers at the Premium Outlets in Merrimack, New Hampshire, while continuing as an independent representative of dental products.
Dante loved meeting people. His sense of humor and ability to engage others allowed him to easily turn strangers into friends. Photography became his passion upon retirement. He sought opportunities to learn and practice new skills, excelling in night photography and cityscapes. Dante was a daily walker, enjoyed folk music, travel, and spending time with family and friends.
Dante was proud to serve his country in the Massachusetts Air National Guard with his father and brothers. He was keenly interested in aviation history, and served as Vice President of the Massachusetts Air National Guard Historical Association.
Family & friends are invited to attend the funeral on Monday, March 16th at 10:00 a.m., from the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE, followed by a Funeral Mass in the Sacred Heart Church, 45 Brooks St., EAST BOSTON at 11:00 a.m. Interment will be private. Marion Y. Zolla
A Funeral Mass was celebrated on Saturday, March 14th, 2020 in Immaculate Conception Church for Marion Y. Zolla, who passed after a brief illness on Tuesday, March 10th. Interment followed in the Zolla Estate Lot at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.
Born & raised in the former “Mr. Jack Gardner Summer Residence” on Prospect Ave., REVERE, Marion resided there until moving to the Cohen-Florence-Levine Estates, Chelsea over 16 years ago in 2004. There she received extraordinary care & attention, physically & emotionally. The care at Chelsea extended to all her attending family, relatives & friends who visited. Marion’s family is deeply grateful to the administration & entire staff at Chelsea & especially to her PC—Roger C. Pasinski, M.D. for his long-time care of Marion. She was a 1931 alumna of Revere High School. When her Mother passed, Marion became, her seven (7) siblings, surrogate Morn, and maintained the family home at 33 Prospect Ave., she cooked mentored & was their go-to person for almost all else. As she became older, she had a fun interest in bingo & the game of Polka. The Good Lord, rewarded her with a “technicolor day” for her interment, so deserving for a Special Angel of God.
She is the cherished Sister to William R. Zolla of Danvers & the late, Estelle A. Abbene & her late husband, William, Louise DeStefano & her late husband, Joseph, Evelyn Corea & her late husband Frank, James A. Zolla, Jr. & the late Frank E. Zolla, the Reverend Brother Richard P. Zolla. She is the adored Aunt to Leslie Zolla of Stoneham, Maris L. Abbene of Medfield, Ronald W. Zolla & his wife, Kathleen “Lee” of Portsmouth, N.H., & Toni Sicari & her husband, Sebastian of Ponte Verde, Fla. Richard L. “Richie” Santiano
A Funeral Service was held on Friday, March 13th at the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals of Revere, for Richard L. “Richie” Santiano, who died most unexpectedly on Sunday, March 8th at his Boxford residence. “Richie” spent his early years in Saugus & was an alumnus of Saugus High School, Class of 1974. He continued to live in Saugus until moving to Boxford, MA in 1990. He loved his home & maintaining it himself, impeccably. A tall 6′ foot ruggedly handsome young man, he had a personality to match. History says that a party never got going until “Richie” was there.” He had an all-embracing personality and above all, placed his Mom, siblings, nephews & nieces & his longtime companion, first & fore- most in his life. For over 15 years and until his untimely passing, he was the “Wholesale Parts Manager for Herb Chambers Chevrolet Dealership of Danvers. There he enjoyed many fiercely strong & faithful friendships.
He leaves his cherished Mom, Phyllis (Eramo) Santiano of Saugus & the late, Michael J. Santiano, Jr. He is the devoted brother to Maureen D. Santiano, Rose Sarro, Robert J. Santiano & his wife, Ann of Saugus & the late Michael J. Santiano, III. He is the dear uncle to Montana S. Santiano of Saugus & her partner, William Jackson of Salem, Ma, Michael A. Santiano & his partner, Ashley Wright of Haverhill, MA, Maryanne Santiano & her fiancé, Matthew Williams of East Boston & Julie partner, Stephen Pizzi of Revere. Anna was a very proud lifelong East Boston resident. She was an outstanding athlete during her years at East Boston High School. She excelled in track, basketball, volleyball, gymnastics and cheerleading. Anna was either “Captain” or Co-Captain” for whatever sport she was involved in. She is an alumna of East Boston High School, Class of 1948. After high school, she worked at John Hancock Life Insurance Company for several years before she became married to her husband, Leonard DeModena. The couple remained in East Boston, where they raised their 4 children. Anna was a woman of great determination, highly organized & extremely detail oriented at every task. Her home was filled with love, happiness & joy. She was her family’s biggest fan & cheerleader; always encouraging & motivating her children in whatever they were doing. She nurtured her children with her wisdom & love and the importance of taking the time to acknowledge any achievement her children or grandchildren attained. Anna tirelessly kept herself busy with knitting, crocheting & sewing. She made clothing, afghans and many other creations through her many talents. She also was a phenomenal cook & baker. She made many birthday cakes and even some wedding cakes, just to name a few. She had boundless amounts of energy and never restricted herself by saying she couldn’t do something. Her children exemplify that she is the epitome of the word Mother. She was a woman of grace who demonstrated her faith through her respect, honesty, kindness, love & dignity every day of her life.
She is the beloved wife of the late Leonard O. DeModena with whom she shared 56 years of marriage. Proud & loving mother of Leonard V. DeModena & late wife Delia “Dee” DeModena of Revere, Kenneth V. DeModena & wife Cheryl of Saugus, Gerard L. DeModena & wife Dawn E. of East Boston & Maria DeModena & husband Scott Melanson of Saugus. Adored grandmother of 11 grandchildren & 13 great grandchildren. Dear sister of the late Laura DeBenedictus, Edward Souza, Dorothy Joyce & Mary Leone. Madeline was born in Revere but was raised & educated in East Boston and Boston Public Schools. She was an alumna of East Boston High School. After graduation, Madeline worked for several businesses in an administrative role. She later took a position for the Sylvania Co. & became familiar & knowledgeable about electronic assembly. She then went to work for the Gillette Corp. in the same area, a position she held for over 9 years. As she worked her way up the ladder, she landed a better job at Raytheon in Andover, as a Micro Electronic Assembler. She worked there for 20 years, retiring in 2002. Most of her working career, she worked side by side with her best friend & soul mate, Bea. When Madeline retired, it wasn’t to take long & exotic vacations, it was to care for her ailing dear mother. Madeline did everything for her mom and felt blessed that she was able to have the time to dedicate to her. Madeline had lived in many different cities & towns due to her jobs, but Revere was her home for over 14 years, until moving to Methuen 9 years ago. Madeline was known for her legendary cooking and she did it with love. She enjoyed preparing many meals for family & friends or just for her and Bea to enjoy. It gave her a great deal of pleasure; people loved her food. Later on, she would like to take trips to the Cape and always loved being at the beach. She enjoyed other vacations to Florida, South Carolina & the Bahamas. But of all places, home is where she was most content. She was known for her witty sense of humor and to share a joke, but her kind and wonderful heart is how she will be remembered.
She is the devoted daughter of the late Anthony & Adeline (Santilli) LoPresti. The loving life partner of Beatrice A. “Bea” Malisko of Methuen, formerly of Revere. Dear sister of Frances M. Marckini & her late husband Robert of Billerica, Frank LoPresti of East Boston, Anthony LoPresti & wife Gerrie & Robert LoPresti & his former wife Rose Lopresti, all of Winthrop. Peter was born & raised in East Boston and was an Alumnus of East Boston High, Class of 1957. At the age of 19, Peter married his dear Mary J. “Dolly” (Ferraro). The couple began their life together in Revere, it was there that they raised their family together. Immediately after high school, Peter began a career in the Furniture Upholstery Business. He worked for a company for about 10 years, before he ventured out on his own. He mastered his craft and opened Tapley Custom Furniture, located on Yeamans Street. He owned & operated his business for over 30 years. During that time, his business sustained a fire and from that point forward he operated the business from his home. Peter will always be remembered as a dedicated, hard working family man. He also worked a 2nd job for Baybank, as a courier that spanned over 25 years, until they closed. In his retirement he enjoyed traveling with his wife to Hawaii, Las Vegas, Bermuda, Florida and the many trips to Foxwoods. Although he traveled to many destinations, his favorite place to be was with his family. He enjoyed spending as much time with them as possible.
He is the devoted husband of over 60 years to Mary J. “Dolly” (Ferraro) Martino of Revere. Loving & proud father of Mary Ellen Martino Brown & her husband Jack M. Brown, Sr. of Dracut & Revere Public Schools Truant Officer Peter A. Martino of Revere & Winthrop. Cherished grandfather of Alexandra M. Brown & her companion Samuel Nevin of Park Slope, NY, Jack M. Lauria, Sr., who died on Sunday, February 23rd, at the Katzman Family Center for Living Center in Chelsea, following a long battle with Heart Disease, he was 82 years old. A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Friday, February 28th at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, 670 Washington Ave., REVERE at 12:00 p.m. Interment will follow immediately at Holy Cross Cemetery, Malden.
Vinny was born & raised in East Boston. He was educated in Boston public schools and was an alumnus of East Boston High School, Class of 1955. Vincent was an outstanding athlete and lettered in basketball, football & track. He served his country by enlisting in the U.S Army and was honorably discharged and returned home to East Boston. Vinny worked as a foreman at the Howe & French Chemical Company in the Shipping Department & later AVCO, where he would meet his future wife. On October 4, 1964, he married the love of his life, Mary Lou (Sullivan). The couple later moved to Revere where they began their life and family. Vincent joined the Revere Police Department and proudly had a career with 10 years of service, until he suffered a massive heart attack while on the job. Due to his medical condition, he was forced into an early retirement. He served as the Past Commander at the ITAM Post #17 & was the past President of the Revere High Parents Football Club. Vinny was also known for coaching little league at St. Mary’s in Revere. He was always present for all of son’s games and his grandchildren’s as well. Vincent was a dedicated husband & father, always providing for his family & spending time with them.
He is the devoted husband of 56 years to Mary Lou (Sullivan) Lauria of Revere. Loving father of RPD Patrolman Andrew G. Lauria & Vincent M. Lauria, Jr. & wife Dawn. Cherished grandfather of Vincent M. Lauria, III, Drew H. Lauria, Hailey R. Lauria, Dante G. Lauria &Andrea M. Lauria all of Revere & one great grandson Brayden Oliver. Grace (Messina) Ruggiero

Grace was born & raised in Santa Caterina, Villarmosa, Caltanissetta, Italy. In 1960, Grace was 27 years old when she came to America, settling in East Boston. Grace worked for a brief time as a seamstress in Boston’s Garment District. She was married shortly later, on November 18, 1962 to Mario Ruggiero. The couple remained in East Boston where together they raised their 3 children. In 1986, the family moved to Saugus until her passing. Her family felt overwhelmingly blessed to have had such a devout wife, mother & Nonna. She lived up to the epitome of her name, Grace. She was truly a lady of grace & strength. Caring for her family was always the top priority of her life. Cooking, sewing & caring were not tasks or chores, that is what she did and incredibly so well. There was no place she would want to be than to be around her loving family. She was undoubtedly a Matriarch that demonstrated her love and unwavering selfness for her entire family. Her presence will be greatly missed, her memory & love will continue on within her children.
She is the devoted & beloved wife of 57 years to Mario Ruggiero, Sr. of Saugus.
