Robert A. McCarrick

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Monday, October 1st, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE, for Robert A. McCarrick, who died on Friday, September 28th, 2018 at St. Patrick’s Manor, Framingham, following a lengthy battle with Lewey Body Dementia. His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Tuesday, October 2nd at 9:30 a.m., followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.) REVERE at 10:30 a.m., and immediately followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

“Bob” lived in Revere most of his life, until moving to Stoneham 12 years ago. For the last year the family had moved to Wayland. Bob was an alumnus of both Immaculate Conception Grammar & High School, Class of 1955. He served as both Basketball coach & referee at Immaculate Conception School of Revere, Pope John High School of Everett & for Domenic Savio High School of East Boston. He was Manager & Assistant Director for the Dept. of Parks & Recreation (Youth Programs) for almost 30 years, retiring after 30 years of service. His position with the Dept. of Parks & Recreation, encompassed a rapport with the youth he served, not only as their coach but as their mentor as well. He was an exemplary “Family Man”, thoroughly enjoying time spent with his devoted family.

He is the beloved husband of 59 years to Eleanor F. (Gaffny) McCarrick. He is the cherished father of Andrew R. McCarrick of Scottsdale, Arizona, Nancy A. Hurley & her husband, Brian of Wayland, John F. McCarrick & his wife, Nancy of Boston & Susan D. Sansone of Belmont. He is the proud & devoted grandfather of Meghan A. & Katherine R. McCarrick, both of Boston, Ellen M., Lt. Daniel C. Hurley, USN, Caroline E. & Kathleen M. Hurley, all of Wayland & Rachel M. & Hannah E. Sansone, both of Belmont. He was the dear brother to the late Denise J. Robitel. He is the special uncle to Roy J. Robitel & his wife, Merri A. of Sandwich, New Hampshire, Michael D. Gaffny & his wife, Lucy Gaffny of Andover, Cheryl B. Gaffny-Floyd & her husband, John M. “Mark” Floyd of Georgetown, Kevin Gaffny & his wife, Rosa G. of Danvers & Jill J. Sewell & her late husband, Robert of Saugus. He was also the faithful son to the late Dennis J. McCarrick & Sylvia B. “Tib” (McDonough) McCarrick.

Frederick J. “Keith” Brunelle

Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Saturday, October 6th from 9:00 a.m. to 10:30 a.m., in the Vertuccio and Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere for Frederick J. “Keith” Brunelle, who died on Thursday, September 27th at his home in Amesbury, surrounded by his loving family. He was 85 years old. A Memorial Funeral Mass will follow the visitation at 11:00 a.m., in Immaculate Conception Church (Corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere. Interment will be Private.

Keith was born raised in Revere. He grew up at the family home on Garfield Avenue. He was educated in Revere public schools and,  like many of Keith’s generation, he had to leave school to help support his family. The selflessness of people like Keith, had a much more profound education & appreciation than many others. Keith enlisted in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. He served his country with great honor & dignity. He was honorably discharged from the Marines in 1955 as Corporal. He and his wife Jane (Sartori) Brunelle were married and remained in Revere, where they raised their family. Keith worked for over 25 years at Sears & Roebuck as a Maintenance Supervisor. He also for years worked as a “Handyman” for many of the area parishes, especially those that his late wife worked for as well. His heart was always for his family, they were paramount above anything else in life. He was a dedicated father and provider. He was a coach for his children in Revere Little league for several years during their youth. He also was a part of the Northshoremen Barbershop Chorus for about 5 years. His other passion was being with his family and watching Boston Sports. He will always be remembered as a dedicated, loving & supportive father.

He is the devoted husband for 59 years to Jane M. (Sartori) Brunelle, who passed away on December 23, 2016. Loving father of Stephen K. Brunelle & wife Ellen of Kingston, NH, Brian K. Brunelle & wife Patricia L. of Peabody, Kathleen M. Brunelle & wife Kathy DiFraia of Amesbury and Jacqueline M. DeSpirito & husband Michael of Winthrop. Cherished grandfather of 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren. Dear brother of Donald Brunelle of Tequesta, FL and the late William, Eugene, Roger, Laurence, Richard Brunelle & Yvonne Flannigan. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews. Past member of the V.F.W. – Joseph L. Mottolo Post #4524.

Peter A. Palladino

In fulfillment of his pre-arranged funeral instructions and protocol, Peter A. Palladino received an absolutely private funeral & interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Peter passed on Wednesday, September 19th, following a lengthy illness at Boston’s Massachusetts General Hospital at 72 years of age. He was the last of his siblings.

Born & raised in Revere, he attended Immaculate Conception Grammar School & High School & was a graduating member of Revere High School, Class of 1964. In December of 1965, he joined the U.S. Army & giving 2 years of service with discharge on December 7th, 1967. He returned to school in September of 1968 at Massachusetts College of Pharmacy in Boston & was a member of the Class of 1973. Following the death of Peter’s Dad, George V. Palladino, in January of 1973, Peter & his brother, Albert, continued to operate the Pharmacy until December of 1993. In the spring of 1995, Peter opened the “City Hall Coffee Shop” & maintained the business until poor health forced him to retire in September of 2012. He was a long-time member of the Revere Knights of Columbus, Council #179, the Revere Lodge of Elks #1171 & the Revere Loyal Order of the Moose. Throughout the years, the Palladino family, were generous benefactors of the Immaculate Conception Parish Community, the Building Fund for the new church in 1990-1993 and many youth sports team & programs city-wide.

Peter is survived by his beloved wife & best-friend, Judith L. (Rudolph) Palladino. He is the devoted son of the late George V. & Albertina A. (Lanthier) Palladino. He is the dear brother to the late, Albert O., George V. Palladino, Jr., Charles A. & Marilyn A. Palladino. He is also lovingly survived by many faithful cousins, nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews.

Martin J. “Marty” Millerick

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, September 14th, from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home For Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) REVERE for Martin J. ”Marty” Millerick, who passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, September 11th at his residence in Winthrop. He was 65 years old. A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home following the visitation at 7:15 p.m. Interment will be held privately.

Martin was born & raised in East Boston’s Jeffries Point section. The well-known family resided on Webster Street for decades and was well associated with the Jeffries Yacht Club. Marty is an alumnus of St. Dominic Savio Boys Preparatory High School in East Boston. Later, he furthered his education at Northeastern University where he earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Management. Marty married Judy R. (Malcolm) Millerick & together they shared 42 years of marriage. The couple resided in Revere and later settled in Winthrop, together, where they raised their family. Marty worked at Bethlehem Steel Shipyard in East Boston for almost 20 years as a Logistics Supervisor. Due to his nature & love for his family, he worked a second job to further provide for them at Federal Express at Logan International Airport in the Heavy Weight Division for well over 10 years. He later took a position at M.I.T. Lincoln Laboratory. Marty rose to the ranks of General Supervisor of the Facilities Department, where he was currently still actively working. Marty was dealing with some health issues, but was always courageous and optimistic. Some of Marty’s favorite past times were being with his children and his brothers. In his younger years, he would often be bouncing on the waters of Boston Harbor and the Islands. He had fascination for history and enjoyed learning new things. He was known best of his intellect and humorous personality. He will be missed by many and always be remembered as a man always willing to help out a friend. His very wise and dear mother would often be heard using a quote, “pray for a peaceful death”. Marty’s prayers were answered. He is now in heaven with his parents, brothers and sister.

He is the devoted son of the late Edward C. Millerick & Imelda (Almond) Millerick. Dear husband of Judith R. “Judy” (Malcolm) Millerick. Loving father of Robert K. Millerick, Ryan C. Millerick, all of Peabody, Jennifer L. Millerick – Smith & husband Frank and Nicole D. Doyle & husband Patrick, all of Danvers. Cherished brother of Gerard E. Millerick & wife Deborah and Peter D. Millerick, all of East Boston and the late Lorraine T. Nazzaro, Edward A. Millerick & Richard J. Millerick. Adored grandfather of Lexi N. Millerick, Griffin Doyle, Chase Doyle & an expecting Wesley J. Smith. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, loving cousins and many extended family & friends.

Michael Dellorfano

Family & friends are invited to attend Visiting Hours on Friday, September 14th beginning at 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. (Noon), in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere, for Michael Dellofarno, who died on Monday, September 10th at the Chestnut Woods Rehabilitation and Healthcare Center in Saugus, after a brief illness. He was 97 years old. A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home at 12:15 p.m., followed by interment in Pine Grove Cemetery, Lynn.

Michael was born & raised East Boston. He was an alumnus of East Boston High School Class of 1939. Michael began a long career that spanned over 50 years in Chelsea’s “Rag Shop” district. Michael was fiercely independent and lived on his own. He had a very active lifestyle, enjoyed current events and would often inform his nieces of what was going on in the world. He was an avid sports fan, especially all of our local sports teams. He got great pleasure in his younger years, frequenting the Wonderland Dog Track & Suffolk Downs. His family loved him for his humble nature and easy going ways. He loved being with his family for gatherings and they loved him, especially watching him indulge in his “sweets”.

He is the devoted & faithful husband of the late Olga (Lena) Dellorfano. He is the dear brother of the late Catherine McPhee, Josephine DiStefano & Carmine Dellorfano. He is the cherished uncle of Mary Hart of East Greenwich, RI, Joann DiStefano of Saugus, Valarie A. Stevens of Lynn, Dolores DiStefano of Revere, Gail Sullivan of Middletown, RI & Victoria Stevens of Lynn. He is also lovingly survived by many grandnieces, grandnephews, great nieces & great nephews.

Born & raised in Revere, he was a graduate of Revere High School, Class of 1978. Craig lived in the city for over 25 years, spending about seven years in Houston, Texas while attending the Texas-MacAllister Institute of Texas, in Funeral Directing & Embalming. After receiving his registration, he worked for firms in and around Houston, Texas. Craig lived in Lynn for the past three years.

He is the beloved son of John C. Mantia Jr. “Jack” of Revere & the late Angela M. (Troila) Mantia. He is the cherished brother of Lisa Richards of Braintree, Scott Enman of Wisconsin, Nicole M. Enman of Weymouth, Diane M. Shedd of Revere & Dina G. Mantia of Amesbury. He is also lovingly survived by his devoted companion, Stephanie Gilbert of Concord & many nieces & nephews.

Born & raised in Chelsea, she attended Chelsea Schools & also attended Chelsea High School. She spent several years in Everett, before moving to Revere 11 years ago. Most of her career was as a clerical worker and & waitress in several local restaurants. Towards the end of her working career, she spent some 7 years as a clerk for the former Watson Mailing Co. of Everett.

She is the cherished mother to Scott R. Bergeron & his companion, Luke Yin of McKinney, Texas. She is the beloved daughter of the late Josephine M. (Ponce-Pansewicz) Davis & her late husband Richard Davis. She is the devoted sister of Bernadette M. Bishop & her husband, Peter of Lynn, Jean-Marie DeIeso of E. Boston, Leonard A. Chamberland, Jr.& his wife, Aldene of Cheshire, Connecticut, Debra Chamberland of Saugus, Catherine L. Joseph E. “Joey” Driscoll

Family & friends are invited to attend a Memorial Visitation on Saturday, September 8th from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m., in the Vertuccio and Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) Revere, for Joseph E. “Joey” Driscoll, who died unexpectedly at his home in Lynn, after a lengthy illness. He was 63 years old. A funeral service will be conducted in the funeral home following the visitation at 3:15 p.m. Interment will be private.

Joey was born in Dorchester, where the family resided until moving to Revere in 1965. Joey attended Revere Public Schools and is an alumnus of Revere High School Class of 1973. Joey earned varsity letters in track & basketball. He excelled in basketball, where he earned several awards for his talents on the court. He was the League MVP, The Boston Globe All Star & Revere Journal Athlete of the year. Joey began a career in the restaurant business as a waiter, later becoming a bar tender. He worked in various restaurants and bars but is best remembered at Bill Ash’s on Revere Beach for many years. He later left bartending and got involved in the construction business where he focused on painting. His last job was at Alpha Waterproofing where he worked for 10 years before he was forced to retire due to his failing health. Joey got great pleasure working in his garden, growing vegetables and various plants. He also played darts and backgammon when he was with his many friends. Above all he was a “Die Hard” Boston Sports Fan, where he lived and died with every win or loss.

He is the beloved son of the late John H. Driscoll, Jr. and the late Jennie F. (Puglisi) Hamilton & her late Husband Charles “Lindy” Hamilton. Dear brother of John H. “Jack” Driscoll & wife Ann of Revere, Jeanne M. MacDonald & husband Donald of Sutton & James F. Driscoll of Revere. Loving companion of Diane E. Leary of Lynn. He is the cherished uncle of Brian J. MacDonald & wife Jennifer, Melissa A. Boratyn & husband Christopher and Eric F. MacDonald & wife Nicole all of Sutton, John L. Driscoll of Salem, Cassidy P. Driscoll of Saugus, and Robert J. Driscoll of Lynnfield. Joey is also lovingly survived by 7 grandnieces and grandnephews, many cousins and many friends.

Edward A. Holden

Holden, who passed unexpectedly on Thursday August 30th at the Jeffrey and Susan Brudnick Center for Living of Peabody, following a brief illness. His funeral will be conducted from the Funeral Home on Wednesday, September 5th at 10:00 a.m., followed by the Funeral Service in the First Congregational Church, 26 County Rd., Chelsea at 11:00 a.m., and immediately followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Born, raised & schooled in Chelsea, Edward was a magna cum laude alumnus of Chelsea High School, Class of 1949. He is listed in Chelsea’s Hall of Fame with superior & excelled performance in sports, particularly in Football & Track. During his tenure at Chelsea High, he held position of the “Captain” of the Football Team and in the 1930s thru the 1940s, Chelsea High, held an enviable title within the ranks of High School Sports. Most of his working career with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts was as a Stationary Engineer within the Boiler Room Division. Edward has long enjoyed the art of motorcycle riding & racing. His adventures were not just confined to Massachusetts, instead, he thrived on planned and spontaneous excursions throughout the country. He was a long-time member of the Army National Guard of the USA, serving from January 3, 1951 thru June 16, 1956 at the time of the Korean Conflict, as a “Specialist 3rd Class” with Co. K-182nd Infantry. He was most proud of his military service & maintained friendships from that time of his life.

He is the beloved husband of the late Barbara J. (Homer) Holden, who died on October 27, 2011. He is the cherished father to Scott A. Holden & his wife Catherine L. of Peabody & Laura J. Holden of Chelsea. He is the devoted grandfather of Cameron E. Holden & his companion Stacey Murphy of Derry, N.H. & Dylan R. Holden of Salem. He is the dear uncle of Mary Baldwin & Frank Briercheck, both of Melbourne, FL and Charles Baldwin of Mountain View, CA. He was also the proud brother of the late Alexander R. Holden & the late Edna Briercheck.

Virginia M. (Graffeo) Maniscalco

Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, Aug. 31 from 9 a.m. through 11:30 a.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rt. 107), REVERE, followed by a Funeral Mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere, at 12 noon and immediately followed by interment at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Ginny was born in Boston’s West End and she was educated in Boston Public Schools. Later Ginny married Joseph P. Maniscalco and the couple settled in Medford before moving to Revere in 1961. Ginny was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, sister & friend and then great grandmother. Ginny had the unique pleasure of having six daughters. She had an unwavering faith and was an active member of the Immaculate Conception Parish in Revere. She and several of the ladies from Immaculate Parish formed their own little “Coffee Club”, where they would welcome anyone to join them. Her heart was dedicated to her family and it was obvious; she loved gatherings and parties and spending time with them. She moved to Woburn, after losing her husband Joe on December 7, 2000. She still maintained lifelong friendships that she made years ago.

She is the beloved wife of the late Joseph P. Maniscalco. Cherished mother of Diane M. Cottle & husband Frank of Woburn, Ann M. D’Ambrosio & husband Pasquale of Wakefield, Maria E. Ruiz & husband George of Woburn, Virginia M. “Ginny” Cantone & husband Philip of Revere, Carol Cantone & husband David of Rowley & Paula K. Coates of Billerica. She is also lovingly survived by 17 grandchildren & 9 great-grandchildren.

Our reputation has always been our biggest asset. For many years people always wanted us to have a larger facility, now our facility is the largest funeral home in the area. We will be making many beautiful upgrades to allow our families to have the most elegant facility to honor their loved one.
Although this announcement is bittersweet, as we say goodbye to our home, we are forever grateful for all of you for placing your constant faith and trust in us to care for your loved one. We will continue to do what we are best known for.

To all our families, friends, and residents of Revere, East Boston, and surrounding communities of the North Shore,

We would like to announce that after 37 years of caring for thousands of families at our 773 Broadway location, on January 31st, 2023 we will be officially RELOCATING, to our new location at 262 Beach St., Revere.

On September 30th, 2022, we proudly purchased the Vazza “Beechwood” Funeral Home – DiPietro and Vazza, Inc. A name that has served families for 102 years. We feel blessed that with all of the interest, the Vazza Family chose us to carry on their century old business and family name. We will become Vertuccio Smith & Vazza, Beechwood Home for Funerals. We will continue to honor the Vazza name and continue our commitment the same way that we always have. We also look forward to having both Louis Vazza and Jessica Vazza Ferragamo alongside of us, as we come together as one.
