Mildred G. “Millie” (Voss) McCormack
Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Sunday, January 26th, 2014 in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, from 2 to 4 p.m. only, for Mildred G. “Millie” (Voss) McCormack, who died on Wednesday, January 22nd at the Whidden Memorial Hospital after a long illness, at 93 years. Millie was born, raised & educated in Revere; she was a 1938 Revere High School alumna. After graduating, Millie worked various jobs. In 1946, she married her love, William J. McCormack. They remained in Revere where they began their family. Millie took great pride in being a mother and wife. She enjoyed caring for her family, cooking and maintaining her home. She raised her daughters with tremendous love and values. In 1973, she lost her husband William. Millie continued diligently to be the devoted mother she always was known for, to her children and grandchildren. She is the wife of the late William F. McCormack, the loving mother of Marie E. Fletcher of Revere and Deborah J. Nickerson of Bradford. She is the cherished grandmother of: Lauren M. Diaz & her husband Ricardo of Andover, Kristen E. Fletcher & her spouse Coleen of Dracut, and Michael P. Nickerson & his wife Sarah of Londonderry, NH. She is the adored great grandmother of Alex, Lola & Ava Diaz. She is the sister of the late: Dorothy M. Menier, Catherine L. Pike, Flora Boyle, Marie Voss, Ret. RPD Julius Voss, Ret. RFD Arthur Voss, William Voss, Allan Voss & George Voss. Also lovingly survived by her brother-in-law Ralph Menier of Atkinson, NH, and many nieces & nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Monday, January 27th at 9:30 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere at 10:30 a.m. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Samuel R. Moschella
A visitation with the family will be held from 12 p.m. to 2 p.m. on Saturday, February 1st, 2014 at the Vertuccio & Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107), Revere, to be followed by a Memorial Service at 2:15 p.m. in the funeral home. Major Samuel R. Moschella, U.S.A.F., retired, of Palm Bay, Florida (formerly of Revere, Massachusetts), died peacefully on January 19th, 2014. “Sam” was born on December 10th, 1930 and raised in Revere, Massachusetts. He enlisted in the Air Force at a young age and served in the Korean War and two tours in Vietnam as a specialist in EOD. While serving at Westover Air Force Base in Chicopee, MA, he met the love of his life, Gale Tutty. Major Samuel was the recipient of the Bronze Star Medal and he was a decorated Officer. Sam’s service and travels brought him all over the world from Europe to Guam before retiring while living in Maryland in 1970. After retiring, Sam returned back to his roots in Revere, Massachusetts. Sam founded the Chelsea/Revere Home Care Center and became the City Auditor before moving to Florida in 1979. Sam was appointed the City Finance Director and later the City Manager in Margate, Florida. He enjoyed playing as much golf as possible. Sam and Gale moved to Palm Bay, Florida where he was a member at Patrick Air Force base and enjoyed golf at Manatee Cove Country Club. Sam was also an accomplished writer and wrote and published “Pass In Review,” a realistic fiction novel. He will always be remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather. His passion for his family, his dedication to his country and his never ending desire for the perfect golf game will forever be in our hearts and memories. Sam was survived by his wife, Gale Tutty Moschella. He was the loving father to Moira Gianelli and her husband, Stephen, of South Hamilton, MA and Kristine Murray and her husband, Tim, of Beverly, MA. He is the grandfather to Michael, Nicolas and Alexander Gianelli and Griffin and Colin Murray. He was the youngest child of six to Carmine Moschella and Josephine Sorrentino. Sam is survived by one sister, Louise DiBlasi, and one brother, Carmine Moschella, and many nephews and nieces. A military memorial service and burial will be held at Arlington National Cemetery in Virginia at a date to be determined. A Celebration of Sam’s life was held at the home of dear friends, Brent & Joe Libasci, on Thursday, January 23rd Palm Bay, Florida. Mary J. (O’Hara) Racca

(O’Hara) Racca, who passed away on Saturday, January 18th, at 75 years, in her home surrounded by her loving family, after a hard fought battle with Lung Cancer since November 2011. A funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, January 25th at 9 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in Blessed Sacrament Church, 14 Summer St., Saugus, at 10 a.m. Mary was born and raised in Revere, & she attended Revere schools. Mary remained in Revere for 63 years until moving to Saugus in 2001. Mary became an active and proud parishioner of Blessed Sacrament Parish, where she attended mass regularly. She is a former employee of Wonderland Race Track. Mary’s favorite joy in her life was her enormous family that included her children, grandchildren, great grandson, nieces and nephews and her sisters and extended family. Mary enjoyed traveling with a very special “select group” of friends and family, traveling to destinations around the country and the world. She was the devoted wife of the Late James S. “Brother” Racca. She is the loving mother of James F. Racca, Douglas Racca & his wife Deborah A., all of Londonderry, NH and Daniel A. Racca of Manchester, NH. She is the cherished grandmother of Daniel Racca of Derry, NH , Nicole Lacharite & her husband William of Weare, NH , Joseph Racca of Londonderry, NH , Michael Racca & his wife Alyson of Ayer, MA , Alexandra Racca of Billerica, MA and Stephen Racca of Londonderry, NH. Stacy L. Walsh
Services were held privately at the family’s request, on Tuesday, January 21st, 2014 in the Vertuccio and Smith Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Route 107) in Revere, for Stacy L.Walsh, who died in a tragic automobile accident on Saturday, January 18th in Seabrook, NH at 22 years. Stacy was born & raised in West Newbury. She was educated in the West Newbury School system. She attended the Pentucket Region High School. While growing up, Stacy had many interests and was active in many extracurricular activities and sports. She enjoyed playing soccer, gymnastics, horseback riding and cheerleading. Her passions did not stop with organized sports; she also loved photography, country music, and would frequently enjoy “Line Dancing.” She was also a well known “Boston Bruins” Fan. Stacy was a former employee at The Atria Assisted Living Complex in Newburyport, where she worked in the kitchen and as a server. She made many of the residents smile with her warm face and beautiful smile. While she was working, she was also studying to complete her Certification to become an EMT. She is the most beloved daughter of Richard M. Walsh & Lorna M (D’Apolito) of West Newbury. She is the cherished sister to Matthew R. Walsh of West Newbury. The loving granddaughter to Phyllis M. Walsh of Revere & the late Laurence E. Walsh and the late Raymond & Lorraine R. (Babine) D’Apolito. She is also lovingly survived by many aunts, uncles & cousins. A funeral mass will follow in St. Anthony of Padua Church, Revere, at 11 a.m. Pat was born and raised in Portland, Maine. She attended schools in the Portland area. Pat furthered her education by attending Business School and Secretarial School. In 1955, Pat and her husband, Michael Nazzaro, were married and settled in Revere, where she remained. In 1972 she had lost her husband and had her young family to raise alone. The dedicated mother she was, she went to work full time at Stone & Webster Engineering Corp. as a secretary. Later in life, Pat donated her time and talents of knitting and crocheting “Prayer Blankets” for Massachusetts General Hospital and Boston’s Children’s Hospital. She is the wife of the late Michael Nazzaro, the loving mother of Debra A. D’Ambrosio & her husband Lorenzo of East Boston and Cynthia J. Nazzaro of Winthrop. She is the cherished grandmother of Paul L. D’Ambrosio & his wife Alexandra P. of East Boston and Lauren A. D’Ambrosio of East Boston & Baltimore, MD. Gary M. Cioffi, Sr.

Cioffi, Sr., who died following a long & arduous battle with melanoma at Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston, on Monday, January 6th, at 51 years. Gary was a lifelong Revere resident, & an alumnus of Revere High School, Class of 1980. He attended the Contemporary School of Music of Boston, & began playing drums at a very early age. Although most of his working career was with Revere’s Department of Public Works at the schools & at City Hall, he thought of himself first & foremost as a musician & drummer. His music career was mostly self-taught & inspired. However, his father’s family were long-time musicians, both locally & in Florida. Gary’s group was known as “That’s That,” who played often for the Beach Scene & along Revere Beach Boulevard, & also at Hampton Beach, New Hampshire. He is the beloved husband of some 34 years to Peggy (Mackin) Cioffi. He is the devoted father of: Gary W. Cioffi, Jr. & his wife Jennifer, Michael J. Cioffi, Derek J. Cioffi & his wife Alexandra “Ali,” & Torre J. Cioffi & his companion Emily Tremonte, all of Revere. He is the adored “Papa G” to Addison Rose & Noah Ross Cioffi. (Garmalinsky) Berry, who died on Sunday, December 22nd at her Everett residence under the loving care of her family following a prolonged illness. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, December 28th at 9:30 a.m. followed by a funeral mass in Our Lady of Grace Church, 194 Nichols St. on the Chelsea-Everett line at 10:30 a.m. Born & raised in Willimantic, Connecticut, the family moved to Chelsea before moving to Everett 37 years ago. “Millie” was an alumna of both the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home, School of Nursing & the Massachusetts Bay College of Nursing. For over 32 years, she nursed at the Chelsea Soldiers’ Home where she earned an outstanding reputation as a most caring & devoted nurse not only to her patients but to their families as well. Often families would request that she be assigned to their loved one’s care. She is the devoted mother to Millie Berry, RN & George R. Berry, Jr. both of Everett, William L. Berry & his late wife Maryalice of Uxbridge, & the late Stephen J. Berry, who died in June of 1974. She also leaves her dear twin sister, Lee Woodworth, of Willimantic, CT. She is also lovingly survived by her grandson, Andrew Forget of Uxbridge, & her faithful friends, Nancy Hocter of Middleton, Lucy Hunter, & Nino Nittolo both of Revere, & many nieces & nephews. Millie enjoyed the role of “mentor” to many nursing students, often resulting in continued life-long relationships. She was also the wife of the late George R. Berry, Sr., who died in December of 2003. Interment will be in the family lot at Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Anthony C. DiGiovanni

DiGiovanni, who died following a brief illness on Friday, December 20th at the Lawrence Memorial Hospital, Medford, at 95 years. His funeral will be conducted on Monday, December 23rd from the funeral home at 11 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in the Immaculate Conception Church (corner of Beach St. & Winthrop Ave.), Revere, at 12 Noon. Born & raised in Revere, he attended Revere schools until the premature death of his young father, Carmine A. DiGiovanni, which demanded he leave school & help his mother to support his four siblings. “Tony” cared for his dear mother Maria A. (Capone) until her death at 97 years. All of his life, he was hardworking & aggressive, entering the United States Army in May of 1939, & serving until July 1, 1945. He is a veteran of World War II. He worked in the early years at the Charlestown Naval Shipyard & later would become a security guard at the former Watertown Arsenal, from where he retired. He was a member of Revere ITAMS. “Uncle Tony” always maintained an affable personality, quick to laugh & eager to be of help to anyone & everyone, especially his family. His photos attest to his gentleness & joviality. His beloved wife, Eleanor I. (Bernardi), died in November of 1988. He is the cherished father of: Anthony DiGiovanni & his wife Donna M. of Peabody, Joseph F. DiGiovanni of Dedham, & Irene M. DiGiovanni-Vardaro & her husband Pat A. of Wilmington. He is the devoted grandfather of: Danielle J. Kempe & her husband David of Quincy, & David A. DiGiovanni of Lowell. He is also lovingly survived by his 5 nieces: Joanne Nardone & Marie Chadwick both of Revere, Marie Atchlas of Billerica, Joan Steeves of Newburyport, & Theresa MacDonald of Lowell.
