Francis W. “Franny” Hyland, Jr.
Family & friends are invited to attend visiting hours on Friday, November 25th from 4:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. in the Vertuccio & Smith, Home for Funerals, 773 Broadway (Rte. 107) REVERE, for Francis W. Hyland, Jr., who passed unexpectedly on Monday evening, November 21st at the Tufts’ Medical Center of Boston. His funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Saturday, November 26th at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Anthony of Padua Church, 250 Revere St. , REVERE at 10:00 a.m.
Raised in Winthrop, he attended school there & was a 1963 alumnus of Winthrop High School. He continued his education at Newbury College & was awarded an Associate’s degree in Business Management. “Franny” as he was affectionately known, enlisted with the U.S. Navy in September of 1965 & served until August of 1971 as an Electrician’s Mate 1st Class. For over 20 years, he had a working career as a Master Electrician with the former “General Ship” in East Boston. He later became involved with Revere City Government & served for over 15 years as a Health Inspector for the City of Revere. After retiring from Revere City Hall, he worked as a dispatcher for Complete Cleaning of Lynn, for about five years. He lived in Revere for about 42 years, before moving to Lynn 3 years ago. He was a long-time member of St. Anthony of Padua Parish of Revere & a member of their Holy Name Society.
He is the beloved husband of 44 years to Diane G. (Ysusi) Hyland. He is the cherished father of Kimberly L. Perry & her husband, Vance Perry of Marblehead & Miss Kelli A. Hyland & her companion, Bill Adams of Lynn. He was the dear brother of the late, Suzanne McCarthy. He is also lovingly survived by his brother-in-law, Ed McCarthy & his family of Billerica. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Arthur E. Weaver, Sr.

Weaver, Sr., who died following a long illness on Sunday, November 20th at the Continuing Care Unit at Brooksby Village, Peabody. Mr. Weaver’s funeral service will follow the visitation at 11:15 a.m., in the funeral home with the Rev. Nicholas G. Granitsas, Pastor of the First Congregational Church of Revere officiating.
Mr. Weaver was born & raised in Revere, attending Revere schools & was a 1947 alumnus of Revere High School. He entered the U.S. Army in March of 1951 during the Korean Conflict & served until December 1952 as a Sergeant. His working career was with the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, as a Master Mechanic. He traveled throughout the state as a Lead Mechanic & Shop Supervisor repairing the “big” trucks used in special construction projects. He retired with more than 30 years of service. He was also a long-time member & officer of the “Cy Tenney” Club of Peabody, for many years. He spent most of his life in Revere (Point of Pines Section) before moving to Brooksby Village with his wife Alice E. (Twomey) Weaver in 2005. Mrs. Weaver passed on March 19, 2014.
He is the devoted father of Arthur E. Weaver Jr.& his wife, Donna of Oviedo, Florida & David M. Weaver of Tewksbury. He is the cherished grandfather of Andrew E. Weaver of Oveido, FL., David M.”D.J.” Weaver Jr. of Tewksbury & Jessica N. Weaver of Wilmington. He was the brother of the late, Claire A. “Sis” Smith, Mildred Covitz & Ernest M. Weaver, Jr. He is also lovingly survived by many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews, who were most faithful to “Uncle Arthur”. Interment will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery ,Everett.

Born in Fall River, Mrs. Carino came to live in East Boston as a little girl & would remain there, until moving to Everett in 1987. She was an honor-roll student for all of her elementary & high school education. She was a 1937 alumna of East Boston High School. After the untimely & traumatic death of her beloved husband, Walter L.Carino on April 9, 1957, Helen was faced with the sole responsibility of raising her two very young children. A strong-willed and courageous woman, she was stately attractive & fiercly intelligent. She entered the workfoce in 1959 and began the climb in the total male populated U.S. Postal Service at the South Postal Annex, Boston. Helen persevered among many obstacles studying, taking exams, and always maintaining a positive demeanor. Her pioneering stance took hold and she rose in position, until the pinnacle was hers. She was the only female supervisor in Area Logisitics until that time. She retired in 1986 after almost 30 (thirty) years of service. Helen was a member of the Everett Garden Club & Everett Senior Arts & Crafts Association.
She is the cherished mother of Walter L. Carino, Jr. & his wife Dr. Dorothy A. Carino, PhD., LCMHC,PLLC of Brookline, N.H. & Debra A. Walker & her husband, George F. Walker of Everett. She is the adored grandmother to Tara E. DiFelice & her husband, Steven of West Peabody. Also lovingly survived by her great-grandaughter Lauren M.DiFelice and many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. She is the last of her family & the endeared sister to the late John & Frank Faldetta, Mary DiMaio & Emily Sullivan. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett.

Mrs. Barker was born & raised in Lawrence, Mass & spent most of her life there, before moving to her daughter’s Revere home, eight years ago. A seamstress by profession, she worked for over forty years with the Greico Brothers Garment Inc. of Lawrence. A true member of the “greatest generation”, she maintained a superb work ethic.
She is the wife of the late Samuel Barker. Devoted mother of Kathleen Tridenti & her late husband Frank of Revere, formerly of Lawrence. Cherished Grandmother of Eric L. Tridenti of Revere & Danielle M. Tridenti of St. Louis, Missouri. Dear sister of the late Phyllis Marino. Also lovingly survived by her niece, Marion Rivers & her husband William of Reston, VA. Interment will follow the funeral mass at St. Anthony’s Maronite Cemetery of Lawrence.

Moschella, a retired Chelsea Firefighter. Mr. Moschella died on Thursday, November 10th, following a long illness at the Kaplan Family Hospice House of Danvers. Born in Everett, he was raised in the Revere St. section of Revere. Mr. Moschella remained in Revere until moving to Everett in 1984. He entered the U.S. Army, during the Korean Conflict, serving from January of 1953 – 0ctober of 1954 as Private First Class. He joined the Chelsea Fire Department after his service time & remained with the Department for over 20 years.
He is the beloved husband of 40 years to Theresa M.(Doherty) Moschella & the devoted father to Anthony C. Moschella Jr. & his wife Suzanne of Estero, Florida, Susan O’Neil & her husband, John of Stoneham & Michael Moschella & his wife Cheryl of Burlington. He is the dear brother of Ret. Revere Firefighter, Peter Salvetti & his wife, Louise of Revere, Americo “Rico” Moschella & his wife Susan of Naples, Florida & the late Susan Franzosa. He is also lovingly survived by six grandchildren, his brother-in-law, Domenic Franzosa of Everett, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. “Tony” was a life-member of the Leon Mottollo V.F.W. Post Of Revere, for many years, as well as a long-time devotee of St. Anthony of Padua Parish of Revere. Interment will be in Woodlawn Cemetery.

Eric B. Martiniello
Eric B. Martiniello, of Lynn, passed away on November 9th at the age of 45 at South Shore Hospital following cardiac arrest while at work. He was the beloved son of Orazio “Roy” and Cynthia (Baker) Martiniello. Born and raised in Lynn, Eric was a graduate of Bishop Fenwick High School, University of Massachusetts- Amherst and University of Maryland University College, graduating with a Master’s Degree in software engineering. He worked as a business systems analyst/engineer at Cotiviti in Braintree. Eric was a sports enthusiast, especially devoted to the Boston Red Sox, Patriots, Bruins and Pro Soccer. He thoroughly enjoyed diverse types of music. In addition to his parents, Eric is survived with many loving uncles, aunts and cousins.

Lucy M. (Reppucci) Salemme
A well-attended funeral mass was celebrated on Saturday, Nov.12th in the Immaculate Conception Church, Revere for Lucy M.(Reppucci) Salemme, who passed rather unexpectedly on Tuesday Nov.8th in the Massachusetts General Hospital, Boston. Her time of death, was just 5 minutes shy of her 94th birthday observance.
Born & raised in East Boston, she was a 1940 alumna of East Boston High School. As a young woman, she entered the work force at the FEDERAL RESERVE BANK OF BOSTON, for nearly ten (10) years as office manager. Later, after her children, were settled and married, she went to work, along with three of her sisters, at the former LIBERTY MARKET CORP. OF EAST BOSTON. Lucy was the supervisor of the “Food Court” at Liberty for over twenty (20) years. Always known to be “busy”, Lucy joined hands with her only daughter, Evelyn, when she opened her business, “RECEIVABLES MANAGEMENT ASSOCIATES” & took the role as Personal Secretary & Office Manager. She remained most active, till very recently at 93 years, young. A bit of a “fashionista”, she retained her interest in her appearance and style. Her family will certainly, experience the loss, however, the memories and “excitement” of her life will do much to ease their pain.
Lucy was widowed in May of 1988, when her beloved husband, Ralph A. Salemme, passed. She is the cherished Mother to: Evelyn A. Lumino & her late husband, Joseph R. of West Peabody & Genard “Jerry” Salemme, Senior Aid to Senator Edward Markey, and Jerry’s wife, Rachel Welch of Arlington, Virginia. She is the adoring Grandmother to Christopher G. Salemme, Nicole M. Kahle & her husband, J. Ryan “Michael A. & Matthew A. Salemme, all of Arlington, VA. She is also lovingly survived by her great-grand-daughter, Samantha Grace, many nieces, nephews, grand-nieces & grand-nephews. She is the dear sister to the late, Ann Giglio, Eleanor Santoro, Carmella M. Elliott, Anthony A.”Tom” Repucci, John Repucci, Joseph & Evelvn “Reppucci. Interment was in Woodlawn Cemetery, Everett. Lucy was a

Howland F. Averill, Jr.
Funeral services were held privately last week for Howland Franklin Averill, Jr., formerly of Revere, who died at the Bedford VA Hospital, Bedford- Edith M. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital on Monday Nov. 7th following a long-illness.
Born & raised in Revere, Mr. Averill, was a 1958 alumnus of Revere High School. In Oct.1958 he entered the US ARMY, serving until
June of 1961, as an Airman-2nd class. His working career includes a five year term at the Watertown Arsenal and later, a ten year service with the U.S. Postal Service at the South Station Annex as a mail-handler. In 2002, “Howie” and his Mother, Rita, moved to Quincy’s Marina Bay. For the past eight & half years, he has been a patient at V.A. Hospital in Bedford, he received the optimum of care & extraordinary attention. For this, the family is most grateful and comforted.
“Howie” was the beloved son of, the late Howland F.Averill Sr. & the late Rita C. (Gover) Averill. He is the cherished brother to Dale S. Averill of Middleton, Diane M. Fisher-Gianatassio & her husband, Matthew Gianatassio of North Quincy, John F. Averill & his

Born & raised in the Abbruzzese Region of Italy, he came to Boston’s North End almost 70 years ago. His origins, gave him benefit to become a successful entrepreneur. In 1960, “Tony” opened “King of Pizza” in the heart of Boston’s Combat Zone, the restaurant was a landmark for Bostonians for over 24 years. With the advent of the Boston Redevelopment Authority, the restaurant was forced to close. In the early 1980s, Tony’s son, Mark, combined his youth and expertise to found the still thriving, “Boston Half Time Pizza” directly across from the, then Boston Garden, now known as “TD Garden”. The Pasquale family’s modus operandi, in the function & operation of business, was the absolute inclusion of family “on-board” at all times. Theirs was an age-old loving, true & tried plan of an exceptional work ethic and finest product to be offered & the motto “the customer is always right”. Tony and his dear wife Dora, instilled to their entire family devotion & respect to family, first & foremost. “Tony” was blessed to have enjoyed unlimited mobility until his 90th year.
He is survived by his devoted wife of 66 years Dora (Pasquale) Pasquale. He is the cherished father to Rita Pasquale, Nancy Sclafani & her husband Frank, Sr. and Mark Pasquale, all of Saugus. He is the adoreded grandfather of Frank Sclafani, Jr., Dianna Sclafani, Natasha Francis & husband Brian, Anthony Pasquale, Alexandra “Alley” Pasquale, Justin & Matthew Pasquale, all of Saugus. He was the brother of the late Quintino Pasquale & brother in law of the late Elio Pasquale. He is also lovingly survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces & grandnephews here and in Italy. Interment will be in St. Michael’s Cemetery, Boston.

Louise M. (Necco) Bernard

(Necco) Bernard, who died following a brief illness at her Saugus residence on Saturday, October 8th. Her funeral will be conducted from the funeral home on Thursday, October 13th at 9:00 a.m., followed by a funeral mass in St. Margaret’s Church, 431 Lincoln Ave. Saugus at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be held privately at Holy Cross Community Mausoleum, Malden at a later time.
Born in East Boston, she attended Revere schools and was a 1962 graduate of Revere High School. A large segment of Louise’s career, was spent as a clerk at Revere City Hall, in the Water Dept., where she was almost a fixture for her many years of service. Lately, for over 10 years, she has worked at the Saugus Senor Center, until her recent & sudden onset with leukemia. Many years ago, while her children were in Revere schools, Louise was active with the Parent-Teacher Association. She was the founder & organizer of the Paraprofessional Union within the Revere Public School System.
She is the devoted wife of 46 years to Joseph M.Bernard and the devoted mother to: Karen L.Bernard & her companion Antonio Altimari of Saugus, Michelle J.”Shelly” Johnson & her husband, Geoffrey M. of Canton, Michigan, & David J. Bernard & his finance, Brandi Ditch of Danvers. She is the cherished Grandmother of: Kyle E. Bernard, Cameron D. Bernard, Sarah M. & Abby L. Johnson & Scott Simmons. Dear sister of Janice B. Necco & Anita D. Quevillon both of Saugus. She is also survived by two nieces, Danielle Holmes & her husband, Robert of Saugus & Amanda Quevillon of Revere, and also by her two “Best Buddies”, Canine “Lucky” & Feline “Bambi”.
